-only first-party gamepad of the past two generations to have not only a good d-pad, but a GREAT one (although to be fair I haven't tried the xbone or xbone elite) -perfectly balanced analog sticks that make aiming easier than I thought it could ever be on a controller -lovely feeling buttons -comfy as hell to hold -80 fucking hours of battery life -the only full gamepad youu should be considering for emulation or platformers, really anything that uses a d-pad
In the name of complete honesty, here are the few flaws I can think of: -no analogue triggers -can be easy to slide thumbs around on analogue sticks, can be fixed with gel coverings -without a $15 dongle, set-up is kind of a bitch on PC -no wired mode
If you can put up with those, which are by no means dealbreakers, this is the best controller ever made
Ethan Barnes
>no triggers
Zachary Reyes
I already said that buddy, buzz off
Aaron Bennett
I do. It's sitting right next to me. I use it on my PC for emulators and whatnot.
Michael Jones
xbone dpad isnt perfect but its 100x better than 360 in thats its actually functional for movement
Ryan Hall
>Why the FUCK don't you own one of these yet? >no analogue triggers That's why.
Cameron Phillips
The xbone D-pad is pretty great. I don't go with other stuff because you have to mess with drivers and whatnot. I do have a wired SNES controller for emulators though
Brandon Cox
That looks like the perfect pad for me, just wish it had proper wired PC compatibility.
I'm using the xbone controller at the moment, which is okay, but d-pad is too clicky for my taste.
Austin Davis
Both DS3 and DS4 are great gamepads, no reason to spend money on another one.
Owen Peterson
Just buy the dongle that converts it to xinput. I was a wired purist before I got it but I've realized wireless isn't bad at all. There's a 50% chance your input will be detected on the same frame your pressed it, and a like 80% chance it'll be processed on the next. The delay doesn't get much bigger than that unless something's wrong. I'm okay with a thirtieth of a second in delay, it hasn't affected my gameplay at all
Michael Price
The stick layout on that thing is bad.
Brayden Powell
>h-he doesn't mean it when he hits me! he's still a g-great husband and he loves me Jesus christ listen to yourself
Adrian Johnson
I'm not even a high volume gamer and both of my DS4's are giving me problems now, mainly the face buttons. Lots of people complain about the sticks but I haven't had any issues there.
Jayden Williams
I got used to it in no time flat and prefer it to the 360 now, especially for Dark Souls
William Richardson
I agree, pretty underrated controller. I loved the 360 controller but the d-pad was atrocious so I'm glad Nintendo got my back on this one. Only needs analogue triggers and PC compatibility to be perfect.
Jackson Brown
>no wired no deal what's the best wired pad you can get for PC these days anyways?
Alexander Lee
Its biggest flaw is the glossy front.
John Miller
I own a Wii U which i give a lot of use along with many other consoles and this controller is absolutely amazing, especialy for gaming on the Pc, pretty complete controller IMO
David Ross
>wanting me to buy a cheap toy over the superior 360 and DS3 controller. Not today shill
Dylan Gomez
>no triggers >garbage stick layout >no wired option it's useless for me
Benjamin Taylor
What the fuck does "no triggers" mean
Joseph Morales
360/Xbone has native compatibility with 95% of games
Jason Brown
Comfy controller.
Jeremiah Wilson
It doesn't have analog triggers it has buttons. WiiU pro controller L2/R2 are just buttons so it's either all on or all off without the possibility of partial input. Think of it like a gas pedal on a car, varying input produces varying output, in this case acceleration. Analog triggers are superior for things like racing games.
Jaxson Wilson
What do people actually look for in a dpad?
Jordan Gutierrez
>Analog triggers are superior for things like racing games. I won't disagree with you there, the 360 controller is still best for games that need analogue triggers. But for games that don't explicitly need them, the Wii U Pro still wipes the floor
Xavier Gonzalez
>Why the FUCK don't you own one of these yet? I don't buy retarded consoles that require you to buy controllers to even try playing the non gimmick based games for the system.
Landon Nguyen
>Buy bluetooth dongle to attach this to my PC since I don't play my PiiU much anymore >Doesn't work no matter what I do
I've tried every method listed old and new, old drivers and new. It just wont work.
Logan Hall
Works on my machine :)
Carter Reed
It means the normies who play exclusively racing games and shooters like to pretend they're actually pushing the gas or pulling the gun trigger. It's pretty sad, but controller hardware has been pandering to them for a while now even though a large number of games don't benefit from triggers at all.
Joshua Clark
-firm, not mushy -easy to press, easy to slide your thumb from one side to another -not prone to detecting diagonal input when you're just holding a single direction
Christopher Harris
Well thankfully for your meme I only spent $5.
Hunter Martinez
Do you retarded Nintendo fanboys ever try OTHER controllers? The shoulder buttons fucking suck, it has a gloss finish so its slippery and gets dirty super easily, the sticks feel like shit as well as their press down.
The only good thing is the battery life.
Owen Smith
Analog triggers are genuinely gimmick tier for everything but driving.
Play Bayonetta on the 360 and then the WiiU. You'll realize how much a pain in the ass analog triggers usually are.
Cooper Barnes
WiinSoft is buggy as hell
Colton Thomas
>the Switch has patched in Pokken controller support >Nintendo will never patch in Wii U Pro support Goddamn it. This controller is borderline perfect.
Ian Rodriguez
>DS3
Brayden Howard
>bad stick placement >stick deadzones the size of a small pizza >can't be used without buying a proprietary adapter >on a dead console
Christian Parker
The Wii U didn't use bluetooth.
Logan Russell
I'd say the switch pro is better but the dpad pales in comparison to Wii u pro.
Nathaniel Cruz
The Switch Pro controller is just a slightly worse Xbox One controller with better triggers
Jayden Gonzalez
>bad stick placement Only to those not used to it >stick deadzones the size of a small pizza wrong, in fact the dead zones are incredibly small, the speed scaling is just perfectly balanced and allows for super precise aiming >can't be used without buying a proprietary adapter or downloading a single program, but the controller can be bought for cheap anyways >on a dead console doesn't matter at all
Lucas Hernandez
>MY toys are better than YOUR toys!!!
Bentley Ross
DS3 is fucking trash
Joshua Turner
>Only to those not used to it I used it a bunch for all of my Wii U games not named Splatoon or Pikmin. >wrong Nah, I'm right. The Wii U in general had garbage sticks, There is a noticeable quality increase when using the Switch. >or downloading a single program It doesn't use Bluetooth, so you need a Mayflash adapter. Also, one more negative: >glossy finish
Samuel Martinez
>$59.99 Fuck that noise.
Kayden Ward
You could always go wired
Michael Thompson
Thats literally the cost of all controllers now.
Alexander Thomas
No you couldn't.
Kayden Ross
>i've never shopped on the internet before
Julian Brown
I have one of these and it just werks. Plug it in, press the sync button on the dongle, press the sync button on the controller, and then play.
Jordan Morgan
I did but some smelly smash player stole it at a local a few weeks ago
Nathan Wright
Yes but is it dinput or xinput? This isimportant. If its dinput its basicly worthless
Justin Lopez
dinput but this fixes that for you
Adrian Gomez
The little switch on the side of this thing lets you switch between dinput and xinput mode.
John Edwards
I like the steam controller and none of you faggots can convince me otherwise
Nathaniel Wright
so gamepad, dongle and dongle 2 + x360ce for every game just to have better dpad? Dont you dare to shill me your nintenyearsold products ever again
Hunter Thompson
What? No. You need nothing but the dongle. No drivers or programs. Just plug it in, press the sync button, and the PC reads it as xinput
Zachary Jones
I don't care if you buy it or not. I pretty much collect controllers to use with emulators at this point so I was just pointing out the best option I've found to use the Wii U Pro controller with the PC.
Jordan Bell
Well okay. I have strongly considered thisproduct for over a year now and since my new x360 is dying already this may be a good replacement. How is the analog stick placement, was it easy to adapt to the strange position?
Robert Moore
Y-you t-too!
Carter Price
>Pokken controller works caused wired >Pro wouldn't despite the same method to connect lol ok
Anthony Diaz
The Wii U Pro doesn't transfer data through the cable.
Leo White
I'm actually not a fan of the right analog placement because usually the right analog stick is secondary to the action buttons in games. It's very much like using a Dualshock, just with the analog sticks at the top instead of bottom, if that gives you any idea. I'm considering picking up a Switch Pro Controller but I've done zero research on them so far and I don't know how well they work with PCs.
Daniel Perry
A couple of corrections: >no analogue triggers That's actualy a bonus, not a flaw.
>great d-pad Great indeed, but still slightly less amazing than the very first Classic Controller for the Wii, even though they look the same. That is THE best d-pad in gaming history.
Sebastian Baker
The fucking battery life is insane
Carson Martinez
The best d-pad is the Neo Geo stick thing.
Dominic Gonzalez
I have one but the left trigger took a shit on me after a year. Anyone else have this issue?
Ayden Williams
How would you claw grip that?
Henry Bennett
Mine died from playing TW101 too much. I fucking brutalized the right analog stick playing that game.
Asher Wood
I have a feeling mine emits a very, very slight imput value to the right even if I'm not touching it. Supposedly that is not uncommon for analog sticks and most games correct that by having a small threshold until it acknowleges the imput, but if I'm using Joy2Key for games I'm having trouble to have the controller recognized it might make the character constantly try to move in one direction.
It might just be me not knowing how to configure it right, though.
Luis Jenkins
Never used it. Seems a bit weird to me. Is that a stick? Does that even count as a d-pad at this point?
Chase Peterson
It's like a stick, but it has definite clicks in 8 directions.
Hudson Murphy
I traded in both of mine towards the switch controller like a dumbass, the Switch's is alright but it doesn't hold up.
Sebastian Hughes
That does happen with a lot of analog sticks. The option to fix it is usually called "deadzone". But Joy2Key has one and it calls it "Threshold for Input". Just keep bumping up the deadzone percentage until it stops being a problem.
Grayson Hughes
>no analogue triggers I hate it for it. It would be perfect pc gamepad for me. Love analog setup,I think it got the best d-pad, and plastic have nice feel. But yup... triggers.
Mason Johnson
But isn't that more like an arcade stick tho? I'd be curious to try it, but again, I'm not sure if it could be considered a d-pad.
To me, the perfect d-pad has to be very soft, and yet have a tactile click to it. Also, it's important to have a fixed pivot or axle or whatever you'd call it at the center. There's nothing worse than a d-pad where you press one direction and feel that the perpendicular ones are half-pressed.
Asher Walker
Ok thanks for the input. Word is, the deadzones are kinda awekward and two to three other complains. Searching yesterdays threadmight be helpful. I thought about buyig the switch one too since the price is reasonable and the good stigma around the wiiu one but teh review kindaput me off. Good luck hunting anyway
Nolan Thomas
That's very helpful. Specialy because I'm one of those weirdos that prefers to use the analog stick for most 2d games, unless they're really fast paced. I'll try using this next time.
Leo Butler
bad goy
Anthony Howard
I got input lag because it's blue tooth only
Adam Garcia
Actually, I own six. Bought two when I got my Wii U, then another four when they shitcanned production and put them at Walmart for $15 new. They're still in the box. If history repeats itself as it does often with Nintendo, controllers will become hard to find.
Elijah Torres
Most controllers are bluetooth these days. The PS3/PS4 controllers are bluetooth. The Wiimote bluetooth. The Wii U Pro controller is bluetooth. The Xbox One controller is bluetooth.
Isaiah Rodriguez
Sticks and D-pad / buttons are in the wrong place.
Liam Scott
You can't plug it in to use it though.
Alexander Anderson
Switch pro controller PC adapter is in the mail, hoping it has little input lag and the x-input mode actually works.
Robert Hughes
isnt it the same face buttons dpad and sticks of the gamepad? does it have gyro in it? cause that makes aiming a joy
Logan Young
>360 controller is still best for games that need analogue triggers. Fuck no. The 360's triggers are way too thin while at the same time requiring too much force to press down, so they dig into your fingers and become straight up painful over long gameplay sessions. The Dualshock 2 or 3 is a much better choice since they both have all of the buttons be pressure sensitive which means you can switch between L1/R1 and L2/R2 as you wish.
Ryan Rogers
how does this controller compare to pic related?
Joseph Gomez
How does it connect to PC? Do I need some kind of third party software or hardware to get connectivity working?
Benjamin Butler
You can't plug the Wii U Pro controller or Wiimote in via USB to use it either.
Henry Jenkins
Switch controller is superior in nearly every way but the d-pad.
Isaac Clark
Vita d-pad is supreme. I'm still mad they didn't use it for DS4.
Aiden Miller
my ps4 controller is busted )R2 presses on its own) so now I use my old Wii U pro with cronus max (i bought it to use my old 360 arcade sticks with ps4) and I still think its the best controller of that generation besides the fancy xbone ones.
Joshua Allen
I imagine this is great because the circle pad on the 3DS already feels pretty nice for 2D games but then you use it for 10 minutes and it becomes slippery bullshit,
Nicholas Butler
the stick layout is objectively shit if you're used to it you're just used to dealing with shit
into the trash it goes, Xbox 360 controller reigns king of the land.
Justin Sullivan
>cronus max any lag?
Andrew Howard
>the stick layout is objectively shit The only stick placement on any controller with two analogs that's objectively awful is the Dualshock and that's all of them because they're in such close proximity.
Adrian Sullivan
I hate the d-pad on the wired one. Don't know why the wireless one can't just have the same d-pad as the wired.
