It, Carnival Night, and Sandopolis don't deserve the hate they've been getting lately

That's not Wacky Work Bench

That's not Labyrinth XD

Sonic 3 has lots of good zones so naturally ONE Zoe has to be the worst.

Good thing Sandopolis exists

ITT: shit taste

what's next, some dumbo saying
>that's not metropolis

urgh

Metropolis is the best classic zone though
>b-but duh enemies placement :((
Git fucking good as sick of you shitters

Nah, you got it all wrong.

For my money though, it's gonna be Donut Plains 1 as best zone.

marble garden is fun but i couldnt figure out how to beat it as knuckles

Agreed, Too bad it wasn't in Sonic Mania even though it was basically Stardust Speedway Act 1

I really want to hate Metropolis but it has my favorite song in the entire game.

Honestly would have preferred that over Metallic Madness.

Wacky Work Bench and Sandopolis are great, fuck people. The worst zone is Carnival Night anyway.

No but OK.

Today OP was not a faggot

Unironic GOAT is Lava Reef Zone Act 2

Carnival Night is phenomenal
Sandopolis is kinda boring at times and overly long but it's not bad

Stardust Speedway act 1 used Sandopolis gimmicks too

They wouldn't be able to improve Marble Garden so why bother

Carnival Night is the best zone from those 3 you listed

FUCK all of you contrarians.

These and Metropolis are among the worst, and we've already had so many threads on why that is.

It was still fucking Stardust Speedway. I hate the layout of that zone, it doesn't feel like you're actually climbing on anything, you're just in a bunch of copypasted tubes in front of a background.

I guess you couldn't have both Marble Garden and Press Garden because the names would clash, but I love Marble Garden Zone.

>contrarians
you misspelled "patricians"

>Oil Ocean Act 2 was Sandopolis
>Stardust Speedway Ac1 was Marbel Garden
>MIrage Saloon Act 1 was Sky Chase
Any other zomes referenced

>tfw still haven't played Mania because PCcuck/poorfag

That's not aquatic ruin zone or chemical plant zone tho?

If Hydrocity was replaced by Marble Garden, Sonic Mania would be perfect.

Carnival Night has the misfortune of being the worst level in 3&K but it's still a solid level.

Carnival Night has weak music visuals, and way too much time wasting shit. Sandopolis is a really long level and Wacky Work Bench is very nonstandard but they are both highly unique levels in a mostly positive way. They also have better music and bosses.

Wacky Work Bench Past is the best Sonic song of all time.

Palmtree Panic is too fun for me to agree

People actually hate this zone? It could be kind of annoying in Act 2 but it's nowhere near as godawful as Carnival Night Zone. Hell, I'd say it's better than Ice Cap Zone.

>Sandopolis

That zone stinks. It's too long and meandering.

Labyrinth actually is fucking good in terms of being actually satisfyingly difficult for a kid's game. Especially the boss. Sonic 1 was more about proving it had more power(speed) and complexity than Mario titles, and it did that beautifully.

Nearly every zone in the series was referenced. Mirage Saloon's lightbulbs are from Collision Chaos, for instance.

Mushroom Hill got kind of left out though, aside from the extendy bridges showing up in Stardust Speedway Act 1. I'm surprised they didn't include the lever things, because those were in Egg Garden in Taxman's old game.

Bleugh

The best zone.

marble garden and carnival night are probably the absolute worst zones.

babby's first spring yard zone

I like marble garden if only for the music and the visuals

Same. Sonic 3's zones are kind of weak to me and S&K is much more memorable and better as a standalone title.

Sometimes I feel like the only person that actually likes labyrinth

the difficulty was alright but the frame drops were unforgivable

FUCK YO MAMA.

>we got Green Hill again instead of Emerald Hill, Angel Island or Palmtree Panic
I also would have traded another visit to Chemical Plant for Marble or Spring Yard

Lava Reef was Hill Top.

>Carnival Night has weak music

He's right though.

>frame drops
what?

youtube.com/watch?v=yx90TMgFv94&t=295s

Is this a zone? Idk i like the music

I think Sonic 3 works better with knuckles. I feel like the two complement each other.

Nope
It's godtier comfy

It's okay but it's not the best.
Hydrocity Zone is the best.

I like Labyrinth Zone as well.

>Sonic 3's zones are kind of weak to me
>S&K is more memorbale
What?
THEY'RE THE SAME DAMN GAME YOU FUCKING NIGGER

It's one fucking game that got split during development.

Hydrocity Zone act 2 has the best music in any vidya ever but Marble Garden is a far better zone than Hydrocity

I think he's talking about the slow downs

BEST SONIC ZONE
EVER
inb4
>MUH ACT 2 DIFFICULTIES
why don't you stay on the higher path?

What slowdowns?
Labyrinth doesn't really have any framerate drops from what I recall

>Game with Angel Island Act 2, Hydrocity Act 2, Marble Garden as a whole, and Launch Base as a whole
Yeah nah Carnival Night does not hold up. Ice Cap sucks too.

>S&K is better as a standalone title
Read nigga

I don't agree, but I'm fine with your opinion.

Mushroom Hill is legit one of the most underrated zones in classic Sonic.

S&K is not better as a standalone title at all
Only autists like you think that

My favorite first zone of a Sonic game. It makes for a good break after Launch Base Zone in S3&K as well.

I LOVE Labyrinth Zone.
The music, the secret shortcuts, the water. Fun times.
It is way better with spindash.

You listed like 7 starting zones there but left out the best one: Mushroom Hill.

Mind you Hydrocity is still a great zone

Mushroom Hill isn't underrated. It's generally well-liked.
It's zones like Marble Garden, Carnival Night and Sandopolis that generally are the most underrated because there are tons of uncultured plebs with shit taste out there.

I always use the shortcut in Act 1 though.

Carnival Night is fantastic
Just a notch below Marble Garden
Tons of secrets in that zones and I love the stage gimicks such as the balloons and those things that spin you around, the barrel etc.

From a storytelling perspective it's pure kino with Knuckles turning off the lights and just the general atmosphere of the stage...especially with that comfy music playing in the background.

I remember there being slow downs, a couple. At least, in the original Sonic 1. Are you talking about the PS360 port, mega collection port, Taxman port, Sonic Jam port, rom, or Genesis version?

Sandopolis Act 2 is one of my favorite zones in the franchise. It's fast, it's tense at points, I love how the music goes horror/hell mode compared to Act 1. I don't understand how people spend like 8 minutes in it, I can clear it in like 3/4 minutes.

>It is way better with spindash.
Nigger, it's not Labyrinth Zone if you have the spindash.

Genesis original
I don't ever remember there being frame drops

Same, I like it for all those reasons. Plus the challenge

it really is though. S&K is a much better game, the zones are so much better.

>marble garden
>carnival night
>good

>he'll never ever return

>I don't understand how people spend like 8 minutes in it
The infinite loop thing surely
Also Carnival Night act 2 lasts really long if you don't take that one shortcut too

I haven't played Sonic 1 in a while. I'm going to be playing again soon, so I'll look out for any slowdowns. I swear I remember them being in the game.

Well, we'll see soon.

I don't notice a difference in quality

S&K is not a game, it's a half game
3&K is the complete game

Also Marble Garden and Carnival Night are some of the best designed levels of all time. Go fuck yourself you fucking pleb.

You mean jumping off from the platform the moment that speed up tunnel at the start ends? Going that way really shaves your time by like 3 minutes. Also the infinte loop thing is really not that hard to understand. Just jump to the left slide when the swinging platform is in sight and you're on your way.

The only difference I noticed is zones in Sonic and Knuckles being longer, larger in scale. At least, that's the sense I get from playing it.

I mean there might be some framerate drops like it dropping from 60fps to 59 or some shit like that but I don't remember something noticeable.

is this bait? everything you posted was outright wrong. 5/10

S&K is the most consistent and solid experience of any Genesis Sonic release, hands down. Not a single stage in that game misses a beat.

That's because there is none since they're the same game

They're definitely not longer or larger
Maybe more linear on average but that's about it

you're right, marble garden deserves more

>Not liking Carnival Night.
Get your ears checked.

There's a huge framerate drop if you get hit while in the water. The rings flying everywhere destroy it.

I don't know, maybe it's a false memory. But I recall the game being slower underwater. Not slower as in Sonic's movement, but the frames dropping pn occasion.

I'm going to look up a playthrough on YouTube really quickly. I need to see if this is a false memory or not

I'm talking about switching from that candy cane looking thing to the other in one of those segments. It saves a lot of time.

This zone and Labyrinth zone is why people say Sonic was never good.

I feel like I've seen a revolutionary war version of this meme

(you)

>S3&K is the most consistent and solid experience of any Genesis Sonic release, hands down. Not a single stage in that game misses a beat.
Fixed that for you

That's it! I remember now. This is true, every time you get hit underwater the game slows down.

>There's a huge framerate drop if you get hit while in the water.
Pretty sure that was done for visual effect

Except for the S3 part. Drop that.
2>S&K>CD>3>1

Combining the two falsifies this statement because Sonic 3 is very inconsistent in quality. And two two halves retailed as seperate releases and can be played independently of each other so what the fuck ever.

I like Marble Garden.
Carnival Night is okay, but I don't "casino/theme park" levels. That's on me though.

Sandopolis isn't great. Act 1 has boring level design.

Act 2 has some really interesting gimmicks and honestly I think it's better than Act 1, but it feels like it goes on for fucking ever.

I thought death egg was the longest. Certainly seemed that way to me. but maybe it's just my imagination. I do however, find the zones harder and Sonic and Knuckles, so maybe that's why they sometimes feel like a slog to me

Oh yeah, that part too near the end. Jump off at the right time and you skip a whole section.

>replying to the meme

>Spin Dash
