That's pretty great.

Not a lot of ElvF fan art out there.

Mithra gets the lion's share, no pun intended.

To the person that owns the erp linkshell on Asura, if you're here. Does your shell have any eu players?

Holy hell, Yve'noile has a lot more fanart than I expected.

She's got some very dedicated fans.

This references the video game Culdcept.

Kind of a shame. I played this for a bit during a free weekend and while I had very little idea of what I was doing, I feel like this is something I would have gotten used to and fallen in love with if I had known about it in its heyday.
Also is there a term for something feeling "nostalgic" even if you've never personally experienced it? Because the playonline viewer music did something like that to me. I felt like I really went back in time listening to that.

Anyways, faggy blog over.

This one I actually had to look up.

It references a video game called "Idol Janshi Suchie-Pai"

Kek

XIV cats are too fucking human

A lot of the designs in FFXIV are unimaginative.

They look less like characters from a fantasy world and more like people attending an anime convention.

I wish they'd redesign elezen to be more like their concept art counterparts.

...

...

FFXI was really fashionable.

...

How is nasomi ?
Does it have broken features ?

I wish this game had boob physics, and bigger tits.

Huntin 4 Games is the best content FFXI has on youtube right now.

And that HappyConsoleGamer episode, although it got dark about addiction.

It's kinda awful, honestly.

A lot of dumb decisions by the guy who runs the server, and anyone who provides a suitable argument against it gets Nasomi's asskissers talking shit about them.

You put up with it because there aren't a lot of suitable alternatives, not because it's actually good.

dunno why I've never seen Valhalla talked about here. out of all of the non-classic XI private servers, Valhalla is far and away the best

Speaking for myself, I honestly would prefer to relive the experience.

While the idea of being able to get super overpowered, or gain access to tons of endgame stuff really quickly is appealing, it'll also get boring (for me) really quickly.

That said, a server like that might be cool if it has a cool community with tons of little events and things to do.

youtube.com/watch?v=I-CEfMytkUg

post yfw you made it for the first time.

>Speaking for myself, I honestly would prefer to relive the experience.
The core problem with that is that the "experience" requires quite a lot of players on a server in order to have enough people within range for a party (assuming "the experience" doesn't mean level sync). Out of however many total people who have accounts, a smaller subsection will be online, an even smaller subsection will have a job within your level range, a smaller subsection will have a role that your party needs, and the smallest subsection will be willing to group with you at that moment instead of doing something like hunting NMs or crafting.

I've tried Nasomi before personally and was impressed with the 200-400 people it had online, but I'm not sure if that's enough. Traditional golden era FFXI had 1500-2000 players online at once and even then it was hard to level a DD job to LV75. Bard, red mage, white mage, and to a lesser degree ninja and paladin were much faster of course.

...

Oops, fucked up my original post.

I just wanted to point out that it's not Sundi in your picture, but FFXI's original producer.

Hiromichi Tanaka.

Also known as the guy who got thrown under the bus after Square Enix opted to push FFXIV.

Here's a picture of the two.

Sage Sundi (guy in charge of the GMs and game security) on the left.

Hiromichi Tanaka (FFXI's producer, in addition to having quite the history at Square Enix) on the right.

>Also known as the guy who got thrown under the bus after Square Enix opted to push FFXIV.
to be fair, 1 of the 2 reasons 14 failed was Tanaka's fault, the fatigue system

the other issue was the engine, which was mostly on the team. especially the programmers who thought software mouse and server-side menus were a good idea with the interface

Superior battle music coming through:

youtube.com/watch?v=X3c4tV7LWN8

>you will never travel through Gustaberg ever again

I'm playing as we speak user.

I just don't think it's right to put all the blame on one guy, not when a project of this size has hundreds of people involved at so many different levels of a company.

Him stepping down because FFXIV got panned on release almost felt like they had made him into a scapegoat, but no one dared to point it out. All the fans ate it up and made a villain out of him.

Tanaka was involved on FF2, SaGa 2, Secret of Mana, and quite a few other games that I enjoyed greatly outside of FFXI.

Feels like such a shame for a guy like that to get kicked out just because Square Enix's executives had their heads up their asses and rushed out an incomplete game.

Valhalla is full of shitbirds. I played the field while looking for servers and Valhalla had one of the bad communities. Nasomi and Era obviously being worse. It's also got an artificially inflated population.

>Valhalla is full of shitbirds.
Like who? The only person I know who sucks is Yuna

youtube.com/watch?v=NjdHsFK60ZY

God that fight.
You felt like a real hardened veteran after that fight.

I'll see you and raise you this:

youtube.com/watch?v=2sag9hIVICM

May not be the hardest fight by today's standards, but that epic music had me tingling all over.

>one of the few pieces of endgame gear I managed to get on my 75 cap ranger was Suppanomimi
Feels bad man. No osode, no crimson fng. gnt., no strider boots, barely anything really. I guess I had Othinus' Bow, Hawker+1, Amemit Mantle+1, RK Belt+2, and most of the stuff that money could actually buy since I funded myself through ram hunting -> ram leather in La Theine. But as for HNMs I never really got into it.

>I actually had the chance to get in the game very early on
>Left if after 15 days of solo playing BLM and a single party of exploring an open dungeon

I DID NOT REALIZE WHAT I WAS DOING OKAY I STILL REGRET NOT GIVING THE GAME A FAIR CHANCE

I feel you, honestly.

For a long time I had to settle for a mix of DD equip and Arhat's set on my NIN just because I had a hard time getting anything from end game.

Once I got into a really good endgame shell, though, things went super smooth.

Byakko's Haidate, Brutal Earring, and tons of other shit from Dyna/Sky/Sea/Limbus and HNMs.

the game now is vastly different than how the game was in its heyday. if you liked it in the past year or 2 (idk when you played), you would have hated it when it was still popular

I nearly quit after a week of playing because I died and leveled-down on my lvl 7 Taru BLM after I went afk to get a drink while outside of town.

I had no idea until then that you could lose your fucking level.

Kupo is superior to Nasomi in that everything that is implemented actually works. Nasomi might have blu cor and pup, but they don't work properly and nothing from ToAU works properly. Kupo is 75 cap and will eventually have all content through CoP working.

Kupo private server has more than 1 person working on things and they actually know how to code. The server isn't even a year old and has a steady 100-150 people playing. Things that have been broken on Nasomi for months (years?) are working properly on Kupo.

I tried to put up with Nasomi but things kept breaking with no fix in sight because he doesn't know how to code anything.

I thought private servers didn't go beyond 20 players online at all time.

Would you mind giving me a link to these populated and seemingly nice servers, user?

It failed because the developers were graphics whores, they felt so constrained after years working on ffxi that they went apeshit with xiv.

Nobody could run the fucking thing.

If the stupid faggot never suggested ffxiv and just kept working on ffxi he would still be at square enix today.

>kupo
>100 active players
sure buddy

too bad the game is ded as shit

My biggest problem with Nasomi is that the server has a lot of handicaps when it comes to EXPing, almost as if the guy who runs the place wants people to be stuck EXPing 24/7.

Past level 50, there were a lot of zones that were difficult to EXP in for a variety of reasons, so most people were stuck going down to King Ranperre's Tomb and abusing Level Sync.

In summary

>Enemy levels were wrong
>Enemy TP gain was wrong
>Enemy EXP reward was wrong
>Enemy placement was wrong

Does Kupo mirror this in any way, or did they actually fix all the issues that Nasomi had tons of problems with?

kupoffxi.com/
nasomi.com/
ffera.com/login.php

these are the only 75 cap servers im aware of.

Dev team on Kupo is the best and i've not heard of any bad drama from them yet. this is the one i play on. it's mostly NA players so peak times are ~5:00-12:00 est and weekends. The devs only implement things once they test them and work.

Nasomi is fine if you can put up with things that might break and have no timetable for a fix. Nasomi server runs well and has or used to have a decent population, close to 200 when I still played. Things like bcnms broke and he added some band aid fix that was pretty crappy imo, so i quit for Kupo. Has more content than Kupo, but doesn't all work properly.

Era has probably the largest population (i've been told anyways). Only thing I know about it is they have 4x exp but there is an option to play at 1x. People on the plebbit page for ffxi private servers have a thread about drama going on with the devs for Era so I stayed away.

All these fags always say "the people on my server of choice know how to code" yet they all use Ashita, never with any credit to atom0s. And atom0s still codes for legiondark

Question is dual boxing allowed on Kupo?

Because if it is your player counts are complete bullshit but we knew that already. Quit shilling, kupo is shit.

go check it again this evening. it's not like kids are playing on private servers. it's mostly people who have jobs. most nights there are 100+ people on there and there was over 150 last weekend. you can't judge any population based on what it is at 10:30 am on a wednesday.

for what it's worth, atom0s even had good things to say about Kupo

My thanks kind user. I would like to step away from high action/fastpaced MMOs and this seems like a good alternative.

I want to play a caster, blow-it-all-up-in-fire character, what class/subclass combo would be the proper one to go?

what one do you recommend? theres like 3 options for a 75 cap server. every one allows dual boxing. you can make 1000 accounts if you wanted. please feel free to tell me what i'm wrong about with any of the 75 cap servers

100-150 people isn't a real count when its actually 60 people and half are playing playing 2 or 3 characters via multiple clients. Quit lying to anons to try to recruit.

Not him, but I'm guessing you're looking for black mage. Subjob for that is generally white mage or red mage

It's not but you're welcome to assume so. You're only allowed one dual box anyways. I've only ran into a few people who even dual box. I ask again though, which one do you recommend? Surely you have an opinion if you're trying to discredit the one I recommend?

Black Mage is what you want. Subjob for it is usually White Mage or Red Mage, depending on the situation.

You should know, however, that FFXI's mages are a little expensive with some spells being very difficult to obtain without the help of a group of people. It's also very difficult to farm as a Black Mage solo, as there's a lot of down time involved in it and very little damage from melee attacks.

FFXI is the kind of game where you're gonna be leveling up a lot of things, though, so feel free to check everything out by soloing around levels 1-10 in the area outside of the initial towns. You'll start off with Warrior, Thief, Monk, Black Mange, White Mage, and Red mage.

Also, if you're a first time player, you may wanna try out Sandoria or Bastok. Windurst has a great storyline, but can be a pain in the ass to navigate from to other parts of the world.

You also get a free ring if you pair up your race with the right country.

Elvaan = Sandoria (Sandorian Ring)
Hume/Galka = Bastok (Bastokan Ring)
Mithra/Taru = Windurst (Windurstian Ring)

I play on this server too. All you have to do is check their forums under patch notes to see that the people running it are not incompetent. There is an update to add "new" things or fix bugs people report every week or two weeks

I'll probably go taru as I absolutely love to play midget characters in every setting. Probably will start with leveling RDM as it seems it has the easier time starting up.

Wish me luck anons, guess I'll download the Kupo client.

There will never be more of this.

Just one piece of advice for you, user, if you're new to FFXI in general.

How you play solo is nothing like how you play in a party.

When you're solo, you'll be upfront and fighting mobs since you're on your own and you need to deal damage.

But when you're in a party, as a mage, you're expected to keep some distance from the enemy to avoid getting blasted by Area attacks.

You'll also need to read up on food items and what benefits you the most. Food is an essential part of FFXI, for every job.

Good luck and enjoy. If you've got any questions, don't be afraid to ask.

>Less than 100 people online on those servers

Jesus Christ how depressing, why the fuck would anyone wany to play a empty, buggy, and dead MMO private server? It's no where even close to how it was on retail. Now I see why XI players are so jealous of why XIV killed their game.

>Probably will start with leveling RDM as it seems it has the easier time starting up.
That is both wise and unwise. Sort of. You'll certainly have an easier time doing the level 1-10 solo part of the game as a RDM than a BLM but RDM is the most expensive starting job to keep current (swords, armour, white magic spells, black magic spells, you gotta buy all that!). So there's upsides and downsides. Still a fine plan.

oh look the XIVfaggots have started coming in to defend their "mmo". how cute

SCH is also an option if you want something more complex. They have a lot of abilities and playing them efficiently is somewhat challenging. They get a bunch of support abilities and ways to augment their spells and have weather control and large DoT nukes.

You could classify SMN as a blow shit up job as well, though that's a different beast entirely.

Fess up.

How many of you had /party macros

I assume at least one of you was young and dumb enough to have "Cut my life into piece this is my {Last Resort}" for their DRK.

We could have a had a decent FFXI successor with a few more tweaks to 1.23b but then they went full wow roller coaster.

I swear i've seen too many of those in FFXIV. It was cringy as fuck.

I did but ironically only.

boost party macros were my favorite. sometimes i would change it to shout

oh look XIfaggots getting butthurt that they are getting BTFO by XIVfags' superior arguments for their MMO because it has merit unlike the shitfest XI

Wew lad.

>How many of you had /party macros
Only for weaponskills, so my skillchain partner could see clearly when to go

>life before TOAU

Honestly who? I am always helping nubs get past the abyssea and custom bcnms. You can augment shit with stats to make exping easy. Hell I can cap a job in 7 hours if I tried cause I put in some effort.

There's only one crybaby as another user said and he hates my guts.

I had Linkin Park and System of a Down quotes all over the place. But I was 15 so it's ok.

you have no argument because your only reference for how good or not good a MMO is, is from 2012 or later.

vanilla WoW was better than the shit show XIV is

Assuming you mean ones that didn't serve an actual purpose like WS announcements, I had some on DRG, but only used them when doing Besieged or Campaign with friends.

>refugee from XIV erp and waifu threads comes to a quiet FFXI thread to shit in the street because it's all he can do
The times they are a changin'

You have not played and definitely weren't doing endgame content in Vanilla WoW if you really think this and not baiting.
Either way, eat shit. You have nothing on me, kid. You MMO is shit, the absolute state of your "community" and playercount is testament to that. Deal with it.

Just
/p TP:
and
/p -

Lots and lots of stuff in /echo though.

You are just mad because you can't deal with the truth. You MMO is shit.

Stop replying to it. I know it's free bumps, but they're going to affect the quality of the thread going forward.

>themepark MMO user shits up another MMO's thread because he has nothing to do between expansions
Never had this feel when I played FFXI Tbh.

the fact that you're comparing a private server population to XIV shows me how retarded you are.

if you want to play on SE's paid servers, the plebbit server still had 12-1500 players most of the time last summer. stop being upset that a 15 year old game is superior to yours

By all means keep replying. I feed on retarded XI fag tears. Delicious.

>still had 12-1500 players most of the time last summer.
Is this the part where I'm supposed to be impressed or something?

12-1500 players is pathetic when you realize that both retail and private servers have zero region locking, every region (NA/EU/JP) plays on same server.

For comparison my low-mid pop NA only XIV server got 4000+ people

I dunno who inflate numbers worse, ffxiv players or the jews.

peak and low populations for XI when it was at the height of popularity were around 1500-3500 so I'm not sure what you're looking for. the fact that XIV servers can handle more people isn't something that needs bragging about.

a 15 year old mmo still managing 12-1500 players on a server is impressive. but again, your frame of reference is probably mmos from 2012 and later

What are your favourite NMs? From a fight standpoint, or lore, doesn't matter.

For no reason in particular I always enjoyed camping Ungur.

Or when Bloodpool Vorax would spawn while I was farming in Pashow Marshlands.
