That was a damn good game, I wish it was a bit longer even though it was still a pretty decent length for dlc. I just beat it for the second time a couple days ago

I imagine a few people have played it, I haven't but saw a video and it looked pretty well made, considering the small team. UE4 really allows people to do a lot with very little, doesn't it?

I just dug through the files, they downooaded all assets from cgpersia lol, still, they made the scripting and level arrangement, its impressive

That's my point, a tiny team made a way better looking and playing game than everyone at crystal dynamics. Yet no one seems to be talking about it for some reason. You really should try out the demo if you have a pc that can run it, it's only 1.8 gigs and its a solid 40-50 minutes of classic tomb raider

Yeah, it looks good. How's the gameplay, does it hold up?
Have they tweaked it to modernise it a bit, or kept faithful to the original? I can't imagine they've done a 1:1 recreation
UE4 has a lot of preset stuff, not saying it's not hard to do but it's like those Mario in UE4 tech demos, where really they've just made Mario and are having him run around some pre built UE4 structures to look pretty
Obviously this is more than that though, but I'm not sure a publisher would get away with stuff like that.

It's definitely not a 1:1 creation but I'd say it still stays true to the original. The game is really similar to TR Anniversary, it kept a lot of the same things but also added it's own new parts to it. Overall the gameplay feels much more like a classic Tomb Raider game than the bullshit CD has been releasing the past few years, if you're a fan of any TR released on the PS1 or PS2 you gotta play the demo

That's just your opinion though, in many people's minds including mine they are some of the greatest puzzle/adventure games of all time, then the new ones came along and tried to turn it into Uncharted and completely failed

Not him but having played Uncharted 1-3 and Tomb Raider (2013), I much preferred the latter. It was less set piece heavy, gameplay was tighter.
But that's irrelevant, I get why people don't like it

Yeah I guess we are at an impasse then because I thought TR 2013 was just a shit attempt at copying Uncharted 1-3. The gunplay and climbing felt so weird in TR compared to Uncharted for me. Also the story was garbage and Lara's character was ruined. They completely discarded her origin story from the og 90's game and turned her into an insufferable whiny bitch

Maybe it's because I played TR13 before I played the Uncharted series. But I did think the latter was shit, not even because I felt it was like TR, it just seemed far too overrated, with nice set pieces and little substance elsewhere

I've played Portal 1 and 2 countless times, both great games but makes no sense at all when comparing to Tomb Raider. Actually it makes no fucking sense to compare both Portal and Antichamber to any TR game, while both good puzzle games,they are not the type of puzzles I was talking about when I brought it up

I'm pretty sure I played them, but never extensively. So I don't really have fond memories of playing TR or anything.
That's really it. People who are familiar with the series find it harder to adjust to the change than those who aren't. And the fans of the series obviously don't like the change, because it's not the same gameplay that made them a fan

Yeah I completely agree, it's the same thing with a lot of other franchises too. People just have a hard time accepting others opinions when in reality everybody likes different games for different reasons.

Yeah same here, like I said they are not bad games by any means. They feel like Uncharted to me and are fun for a couple playthroughs, it's just a shame they didn't start a new series or else we might still have some good TR games that stay true to the classic gameplay

They are all tps/platformer/puzzle games while Portal is just a puzzle game. They're not really that similar to me so I don't like to compare them
