To my knowledge crossbows already deal increased damage compared to bows to compensate for the higher AP cost, but as you said even then it's still shit
I honestly don't know what they're going to do to improve them, they'll have to increase the base damage by absurd amounts to make it worthwhile and if they simply lower the AP cost then bows will be inferior in every way instead

I don't get why they wouldn't just make the only difference between bow and crossbow the ballistic curve and the direct line of fire.

Maybe increase the curve the further you try to shoot with the bow making it more effective to shoot over cover and in open fields while crossbows would be better in closed environments like buildings and caves.

I ruined the last quarter of D:OS for myself by starting every fight by casting meter shower and killing all the enemies before the fight had even started.

Mind you that's still going to be the EA version. Save files won't be compatible with the final version of the game

Yes, each compaion has 2 outcomes for each of their story, the main campaign story has 2-3 outcomes. You can also only take 3-4 companions with you at a time so you'd need at least 2 playthroughs to complete all of them. You also have gamemaster mode, mod support for custom campaigns, arena pvp mode.

Pillars is trash and you're just salty everyone has realized obsidian is a hack.

Supposedly you can earn tags like villain in the game.

Don't forget that if you aren't playing as an origin char you don't see their interactions with NPCs in full.

Undead can use their skeletal fingers to pick locks, so they don't require lockpicks.

I've had the game on EA since it first came out. What is the shape of it right now? Can I play and get the most oyt of it before release, barring me going too deep in?

What are the biggest sources of XP in the game? If I try to sneak past everything will I get fucked later from losing to much xp and having to do some fights eventually?

New Prologue and 2 new classes added since EA dropped. Nothing new added to Act 1 on Fort Joy. Saves won't be compatible so my recommendation would be just test out the classes before it comes out so you can know off the bat what suits you.
