you don't have to play every game with him, just pick out a couple of games that there could be some interest overlap and make the effort to play them with him every now and then. If you like him enough even some shitty game that you don't have much interest in can be fun. Me and my bf tend to play RPGs and dark souls together but then he plays other multiplayer orientated games that I don't play that much and vice versa.
