There's nothing to understand. He's the original villain from the Donkey Kong Country games and has been absent from the modern games.
I think the idea fueling this absurd backing is that if Smash acknowledges him, the rest of Nintendo will have to.

Personally I think DKC should acknowledge him first, and work from there.

Why do people want a new Smash so bad right now? You can't expect Nintendo to dump their entire first party IP offerings within the first two years of the system's life only to be gameless the next three years. Smash won't come out till 2020 maybe, a port is more likely.

Because Smash 4 is one of the most boring Smash games. It doesn't really do anything new or added anything substantial.

Even an expansion of Wii-U Smash would probably be devoured. The important thing is new roster members.
I just wish Sakurai wasn't so butthurt over Subspace Emissary. I want something compelling in singleplayer. I don't care how many youtube views it gets.

palutena is very fun, i love how her up-air looks and it's satisfying to hit with it, also one of her taunts is literally pole dancing which i seriously don't know how sakurai got away with

he was the antagonist of the tv series, and before you say "nobody liked that show", it was actually WAY more popular IN JAPAN, to the point it kept airing there after being canceled here, and they even had playsets of it.

it made modding a lot more fun and convenient than brawl was, with smash4 we ended up not even needing a "project M" because it was so much easier to mod this time around, to the point any idiot can do it.
