This was my experience with EQ2. It was too late to join in 1, but some friends wanted me to join them in trying out 2. After a few months they all mostly returned to 1 or started playing WoW.

Pretty much all of Nexon's MMOs.
For example Elsword started out so much drastically lower in pull rates for their gacha system in NA than JP that the prices of the rare items skyrocketed to (at times) 20x the price they were on the JP player marketplace.
Now it's much better (rates higher, pulling a certain amount will give you materials to craft it anyway, etc.) and they even gave out a whole rare gacha set for free, but the community never recovered from the currency inflation and only the more common parts are even reasonable now.
