holy shit dude you really like valve. 3/3

3/3
5/5 Remember when Valve was a video game developer? I do
1/1 GUESS WHICH GAME

Might as well try and contribute further by talking about one of the games on my 3x3.

So Xenoblade is pretty much my favourite game ever made, and it my favourite for a variety of reasons. One such reason is the exploration. Entering a new area during my first playthrough was always an incredibly exciting feeling. Entering the Gaur Plains in particular and seeing those massive sweeping views and what might be one of the best map themes in gaming was quite breathtaking. Rambling done and dusted. I'm sure I'll ramble some more next time.

Game listed beneath the score is my favourite game in that 3x3

Not a big fan of Half Life 2, mind I never finished it.

Do you not know how ratings work? You've said they're all equally perfect, because they've all got top marks.

How new are you?
The rating method for this thread is:
number of games liked/number of games played

Games liked/games played
I liked the games that i'd played and seen posted, but I like some of those games more than others, so I wouldn't say they're all equally perfect.

>Chinatown Wars is that good?
It's a different kind of GTA experience but I'll sum up my arguments here.

The wanted system is by far the best in the series, it encourages an aggressive playstyle by incentivising the player to ram the police cars in order to remove stars, instead of avoiding them. The drug dealing economy is also a unique way of earning money, and is quite addictive. You can make a lot of money but there's always a risk of a drug deal being a bust, making each deal exciting. It's a risk reward implementation that makes the world feel alive systematically, instead of naturalistically (eg. graphics, animations, the world looking "real", which obviously Chinatown Wars cannot accommodate for being on a handheld)

The story is nothing groundbreaking, but its simplicity helps to accentuate the dry humour of the protagonist. It feels more like an older episode of Mission Hill or South Park than an attempt to portray some Crime Drama epc with hamfisted satire ala GTA IV and V. The missions in CW are also incredibly tight, they never waste your time and they're always introducing something new. The limitations actually help the mission structure.

which ones?

6/7, Automata and Wonderful 101 are fantastic! I didn't really like Shovel Knight all that much, though.

4/4, +Hotline Miami, +TF2

7/7, I love 3D Realms! I have yet to play Deus Ex but it looks really good!

5/6, Tactics Ogre is rad! You should check out some shmups by Cave, if you haven't already!

7/7, EXCELLENT TASTE, MY DUDE. ++++Ghost Trick, 2nd Runner, MGR. I've heard nothing but good things about Yakuza 0.

Y'all like a lot of good games!

>cave shmups
yeah I recently have been playing some. dodonpachi and deathsmiles are fantastic. Thinking of replacing ikaruga with one of the two but too lazy

Did you play Radiant Silvergun?

Couldn't decide between AA1 and AA3, so I put the trilogy. Same thing with 999 and VLR, so I put the Nonary Games. Shovel Knight should have been SK: Treasure Trove, but I couldn't find good boxart for it. Honorable mention to TTYD, but I like the original more.
3/3 (HM, Wario Land 4, BIS)
2/2 (Xenoblade and SMT4)
1/1 (obvious)
2/2 (Platinum and Xenoblade)
1/1 (SS)
2/2 (DKC2 and 999)
2/2 (Tetris and Pokemon)
2/2, take a guess
3/3 (2 are obvious, MMX)
2/2, (HM, SSBM)
3/3 (M3, Xenoblade, Cave)

Liked Hotline Miami 2. Didn't play the SpongeBob game. Didn't play the upper right game. Kind of indifferent on the rest, but didn't actually hate any of them.
