man, what a great movie.

The only thing I didn't like about Princess Mononoke was the pessimistic ending

Porco rosso is the best one, if you say otherwise you're just a waifu faggot

Maybe because he puts more thought into the story and presentation than feminism in this one compared to his other masterworks that sadly gets slightly dragged down because of it.

Marco is a total bro.

>compared to his other masterworks that sadly gets slightly dragged down because of it.
what other works do that?

why is this movie so fucking good compared to his others? because it's more mature? this movie is seriously in my top 5 movies of all time along with nausicaa and spirited away being tied.

Okami

was just going to post thsi

Stop using "Miyazaki" and "Ghibli" interchangeably.

it was my first ghibli movie and i fucking loved it.
I had it on VHS and would play it over and over. the music is fucking fantastic and i'll remember it for the rest of my life

Totoro
Howls
Nausicaa
It's not enough to lower the overall score, but it gets noticeable.
Arietty had it as well but it fits her very well.

It's even easier to spot Miyazaki's fem side if you know a little about the culture, and how distant it is for young girls to behave like that.
It's as it's meant to have so much pent up feministic strong character tropes it has to make up for the rest of the time when women are treated as Japanese women.

Best Mononoke music video here.

>Feminism
Miyazaki literally just likes cute girls doing things.

the most memorable out of that list for me is Howl castle. where did it exactly show that in the first place?

The fact you even have to ask this makes me sad.

WHY DID WE WAIT SO LONG!?!?

this is literally the only film to have made me cry

LEL
Been a while since I heard that song.

This one made me giggle because of the smiles in the beginning.

As I said, it's not enough lower the overall score, but the moments gets kinda annoying, it's like it's shoehorned in, and it feels out of place.
Doesn't help that he always makes the boys the same age as the girls incompetent in most his movies.

I hate to break it to you, but Miyazaki doesn't make movies about little girls because he's a feminist.

>Young girl trapped in an old woman body through magic, not through aging, acts all high and mighty as if she's had more life experience and is higher ranked.

this is a good movie for it. no other anime or animated movie emotionally gripped me as much as this one.

nah man. grave of the fireflies is best. don't let the name get you down it's pretty fucking hilarious.

>being a 60 year old tsundere=feminism
fuck off Sup Forums

You're aware that Howl's Moving Castle is not in fact a Miyazaki original? It's a book by some British lady. Miyazaki arguably downplays the feminist angle because he focuses a lot more on the concept of war and airships than the novel did.

He has good taste.
Better to enjoy a tasty meal before it's past best before date.

But again, in Mononoke no Hime it's perfect to have the female protag a strong independent woman since that's what made her survive the life in the wild, unlike a shut-in meek girl that suddenly acts like a pushy brat.

You're aware that Howl's Moving Castle is not in fact a Miyazaki original?
I did not.
Glad to learn something new.

No, but he did get pretty annoyed when people made the princess from Cagliostro a moe icon.

This or Spirited Away are the studios best work. Anyone who says otherwise is a unique snowflake you believes anything popular is bad.

The book is actually pretty good. It's by a lady named Dinah Wynne Jones I think (possibly Dianah?). It works under an appreciation and understanding of fairy tale conventions (hence why the main character is kind of cynical and acts like an old lady even when young, it's because she recognizes that as the eldest of three sisters nothing interesting will ever happen to her and that she's basically stuck as a side character to her youngest, who will likely marry a prince or go on some great big magic adventure).

It's been quite a while since I read it so I'm not sure if it would hold up to an adult but it's an excellent children's book.

Mononoke and Castle in the Sky
Spirited Away is great, but a bit overrated.

Mononoke was the best

He only complains about stuff like that because it damages his credibility as the "Japanese Disney".
Look into his past enough and you'll see he was originally as much of a pathetic nerd as the people he's famous for criticizing.

Sounds darker than than the Miyazaki's version.
Too bad I never read books.

I also felt Spirited Away was overrated.
Maybe it's so highly recommended because it's one of the more popular in USA, but here it's just one of the rest of Miyazaki's newer works.

Rosso is still my favorite. Flying pigs and cute girl mechanics.

>food analogy
>in justification of pedophilia

Genuinely kill yourself.

>The only thing I didn't like about Princess Mononoke was the pessimistic ending
Magic is dying, science is taking over, nature will be replaced by human pragmatism and a dramatic shift in the biological mass equilibrium.
That was a realistic approach.

Amen. Not my favorite, but I feel it never gets enough recognition.

You should educate yourself beyond the blue pilled controlled school lessons.
