How the fuck do you get into this games combat? I got turned off by chapter 1.

Did you buy unite guts and unite spring? Those are vital and the game doesn't do a good job of letting you know that. Don't use the touch screen for unite morphs, use the right analog stick instead, and use multi morphs when you can. There is a learning curve, and some stuff could be explained a lot better, but I stuck with it and it's honestly my favorite Kamiya game, and I was ready to give up on it at one point too.

I strongly recommend you watch Chip Cheezums let's play, just the first couple of videos or so. It does a great job of explaining the game for you, I had the same problem until I watched it.

Also remember you're still going to suck at first, these type of games are meant for multiple play throughs and you will notice improvment as you go

well shit, i need to replay because i didn't know most of this. I beat the whole game only using touch pad, didn't even know you could use more than 1 morph at a time.

As awesome as the game is, it does a real shit job of explaining the mechanics. I know we don't need a game to hold our hand, but the mechanics are complicated enough that a more detailed explanation could have been used

Yeah, I had a similar experience on my first playthrough too.

Pit from kid icarus

He's a good one, though I still prefer Wonder Red. He's not as naive as Pit with his absolute faith in the gods or Palutena.

Its kinda weird how the whole game points out how much Pit sucks up to and trusts Palutena then never really resolves it. Dark Pit comes out calling him a puppet but he ends up following the gods regardless, the Chaos Kin arc tries to play up that maybe it isn't possession and Palutena became a dick, but then it totally is and Pit had the right idea in his blind faith, and last we hear of it is inside Hades where he asks pit why he feels he's in the wrong, then says basically what the gods said, then when Hades points that out he's just like "hey i came up with parts of that myself" and that's it.
I love the game though so I'm willing to accept I just missed something, but it also does similar to the whole humanity subplot, quite explicitly ending the game on "eh whatever, happy ending"

Wonder Pink grated, but I think that was the point.

The dub and localization were very well done and the Japanese voice acting was in it to boot, so there was nothing to complain about.

Funny thing is, the Platinum games I like are Wonderful 101, Revengeance and Bayonetta. Madworld, Anarchy Reigns, and their licensed stuff is mediocre to bad.

This, Monster Hunter 4U and Bloodborne gave me hope for video games still being alive.

I love Pit, but he spends like 90% of the game being Palutena's errand/assassin boy until she gets corrupted and he fights against her. While it's shown in the game that Pit is at his core a true hero, I don't think he'd of done half the shit he did if Palutena simply told him to sit those battles out.

It IS my favorite game, and it took a little bit for that to sink in because the previous game had massive nostalgia ties. There really isn't much that could be done to make Wonderful 101 better. Maybe less gamepad gimmick sections but that's it.

Love how the final boss theme sounds so heroic. It's like the game itself is cheering you on, yet even then the track gets a bit ominous and desperate at points so it still feels like a real struggle.

The final boss fight is heroic because Jergingha is the true hero of the story and did nothing wrong.

I'm glad it made it into Smash. If you're only going to include one W101 song it had better be fucking J:PDF or maybe Guyzoch Space Pirate Teio Form

Joe is great, but he's not what i'd call a straight hero like Wonder Red. He is a hero, but he let his fanboyism and sheer overwhelming joy distract him for a while from Silvia.

Wonder Red is basically the vanilla, by the book hero, but well done.

Seriously though, why was he so likable? I still can't seem to figure it out. Going in, I expected his personality to be kinda boring, but I really ended up liking him.

I think this game is the best with references I've ever seen. Not only are they thrown at you like every 5 minutes, but they feel like they actually fit. Bayonetta 2's felt so hamfisted in comparison. I almost vomited at the TW101 Diplomacy has failed line she said.

The game doesn't have enough art full stop. It's an absolute shame, because I earnestly believe that this was the greatest game of last gen and nobody cares because it's not movie enough for them.

I cant help but feel like if this had come out after Splatoon more people would have given it a chance. I hope something comes out of Platinum teasing a Switch port.

After Splatoon and on The Switch would have made it a huge hit.

Its such a great game and alone makes me happy i brought a Wii U. But after that system flopped any hope of this or anything being a huge hit on the Wii U was dead.

The best voice acting i've ever seen in a game was from the dub of Asura's Wrath, which, coincidentally, basically has the same ending as W101, but 10x as hype and with the planet sized laser only being the start of it, vs the climax.

I enjoy playing Wonderful 101 more though.
