The Big N is having arguably their biggest year since the heyday of the Wii. How did they manage to turn things around?

autism
Shovelware trash and ports are now considered big?
By not catering to playable movies and yearly editions of the same crap.
>same crap.
He says while waiting for mario #804
>the "it's the same series so it's a rehash!!!!!!" argument
i thought we left that back in 2010
>How did they manage to turn things around?
They actually told people about their new products and made sure normals didn't think it was an accessory to the previous console.
>hey its the "Its not same crap, when I say it isn't!" argument
Stay bing bing wahoo, drone.
...
I wish this wasn't drawn to be so shitty because it comes off as bait, when it's objectively correct
>A Nintenigger took his time to draw this
I know that you guys have a lot of time but still...
All the rage pleases Reggie's rock hard cock.
>calling names
you just lost son, move on and don't embarrass yourself more
I know, seriously, that little racist nazi could be watching the newest Uncharted game!
You know what would please reggie even more? Not getting late downgraded third party ports.
they made something that wasn't shit and actually appealed to people. And they launched with strong games
truer evidence has never been posted.
shame about the presentation though.
>gameS
it's 2 fucking AM and you fags are up arguing about video games and sucking cock.
Go to bed.
>Nintendo's success with the Switch triggers the ever-living fuck out of Sup Forums
They've found a non-gimmicky way to make late downgraded ports worthwhile: being able to take those games on the go. I guarantee you Skyrim is going to be one of the top sellers of the holiday, including other consoles.
Sup Forums HATES being wrong, especially when it involves something they don't like selling well.
It's only 1 you fucking Eastcuck.
By making good games. People want to play Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild. The Wii U launched with New Super Mario bros trash and the 3DS launched with pilotwings. They also changed their advertising to stop showcasing families and start showcasing hip attractive young adults.
I think the triggering has a lot more to do with Nintendo fans insistence that the system and it's games is now the GOAT or whatever the fuck.
It's just more Mario and Zelda m8, if you like that kind of thing, go hard.
just like how Sup Forums is triggered over ps4
>Sup Forums was wrong about PUBG being FOTM
>Sup Forums was wrong about the Switch flopping
What else was Sup Forums wrong about this year?
The only reason the Wii U wasn't the same was a mix of bad marketing, the name, and no real pinch hitter games to pull the masses until it was too late (Splatoon saved the Wii U from total mediocrity)
With BotW, Mario O, Spla2n, a promised Pokemon game, and several well liked third party games, along with the snazzy name and design, it's no surprise it's doing well.
>BOTW triggers them even harder.
>still left over salf from Bayonetta 2.
Man it feels good
>How did they manage to turn things around?
Having Yakuza in charge of the company.
Only literal retards thought that the Wii U would catch on. Anyone with half a brain knew it'd be dead in the water.
I don't know how you cant see the significance of the Switch. First of all, it's the first Nintendo system that can run third party games since the gamecube, which was over 15 years ago. Second, Nintendo has finally stopped trying to pander to casual families. Their big casual family game, 1-2 switch was half-assed and gets very little promotion. With Mario Odyssey they directly addressed the fact people wanted the 64/Sunshine style back. This is Nintendo giving up on the casual family audience they brought in with the Wii and going back to the old Nintendo we knew and loved. The Nintendo that made video games for people who enjoyed video games. We're even getting new Metroids.
It'd be faster to list what Sup Forums was right about.
do you really think they'll abandon blue ocean after all the money it made them
Kek negros BTFO as usual.
I will never understand why 1-2 Switch wasn't a packaged-in game. NintendoLand was a much better tech demo anyway.
Why is Bill so based? Every game of his is a 10/10 with stunning visuals and tight, innovative gameplay with fucktons of content.
Mostly yes. It made them money with the Wii, and with the DS, but these people didn't buy the Wii U, they didn't buy the 3DS. Even their casual mobile Mario game was a failure. They've realized that the casual market is too unpredictable. Fads can catch on, or they just flop. Certainly, Nintendo is still going to throw the casuals a bone every now and then, like any company would but they've definitely realized that these "people" cant be the core of their audience. The fact we have no New Super Mario Bros game even announced half a year after release should speak volumes about that.
and those are the same people who spam nintendomination threads sony has them too the people that defend vita's shitty memory card
>I will never understand why 1-2 Switch wasn't a packaged-in game.
Nintendo didn't want to people to think it was just the Wii again. They wanted people to know it was something different.
Every community has drones. I don't know why we even try to single people out when all fanbases are fucking retarded in their own ways. It's just putting too much energy into nothing.
fuck switchfags and braindead memers
nintendo's best console is the wii u. if you see it as a disappointment or a bad time for nintendo, you didnt own a wii u. it was only bad when it came to sales, and the 3ds made up for it.
Yes, it's childish and pathetic. The console wars need to stop. Nintendo and Sony aren't even really competing anymore and no one here cares about Microsoft. There's no reason to continue that petty childish behavior.
hey i was shitting on both of them
he made a call
Console wars are honestly completely cancerous and harm the industry more than do it any good. It's even worse when devs try and cash in on console war shit (Cliffy B. calling Xbox fans salty after not releasing LawBreakers on Xbone)
>How did they manage to turn things around?
It's easy. All they had to do was release good games.
Pic related was a harsh reality check that they sorely needed. It's death only gave us good things...aside from paid online and the death of miiverse.
>All they had to do was put money into marketing/advertising
ftfy
Something without marketing/advertising might as well not exist to the general populace
>iwata on his death bed
>his final request was to make sure the people of the world please understood.
>Kimi grabs his dying hand as he fades away with tears in his eye.
>I will Make them understand!
People don't seem to realize what Nintendo is really doing. They've always held their brands close to their chests, for example Mario games have mostly always been Nintendo console exclusives and each game more or less follows the same formula, same can be said for Zelda. Now Mario is shooting fucking guns, there are games coming out on phones, Zelda has been turned completely on its head, and they're sharing the rights all over the place for board games, movies and amusement parks. Nintendo has realized that their steadfastness in keeping their brands on point and never straying too far from the norm has lessened their appeal and marketability, which is why the Wii U never boomed from its titles alone. They're burning out their IPs by doing shit they've never done before, and are knowingly cheapening them. Once the highs of seeing Mario and Zelda as things we've never seen before wears off, it's gonna be downhill for Nintendo.
...
I'm using tilt controls!
I respect Iwata as a master programmer, but as a CEO, he lost his touch.
A bit more than that.
>not have a confusing produce that most thought was a wii addon
>not having such an confusing name
>not making such an expensive controller that's a pain to replace
>Not making the console itself not look extremely similar to the wii
>having fucking NSMB U as your main showoff title at launch
>Not botching your reveal by not showing the dang console itself
>Saying, "THE NEW CONTROLLER" constantly during said reveal
>literally not studying the competitions online infrastructure at all until the last second.
>not having a system menu that's as slow as molassis
>expecting anyone to buy the basic model over the deluxe model wasting cash.
>trying to live off the long dead wii hype with such an unappealing product
>Constant month long game droughts
I'm forgetting some but yeah. Lessons were learned.
must be the hat
I want to pet that dog
Well, it looks like they aren't going to unfuck Mario Party since they're giving the 3DS its third Mario party not 10 months after the last one it got. Do you think they'll unfuck these other two franchises at least?
But that's a lion cub.
>paper mario
possibly, tanabe is giving us prime 4 so he may go back with PM as well
>star fox
dead in the water
They stopped being as retarded.
Simple as that.
Well, mostly.
The keyword in that sentence was "as".
They're less retarded now but they still need the safety helmet.
Koizuma supervised switch development instead of miyamoto
proper marketing and not trusting year 1 on 3rd party support
Based
By having a console with a great concept, great games withheld from the Wii U and actually advertising the damn thing.
Great timing to be sure.
Also this assortment of games:
>Mainline Zelda
>Mainline Mario
>Competent Spinoff Mario
>Mainline Pokemon
>remake of a cult classic Metroid
>remake of a cult classic Fire Emblem
>a Fire Emblem phone game in which the devs are putting in consistent updates and listening to feedback
>a sequel to newest successful IP Splatoon
>a new successful IP in Arms (sold 1.2 million units in first 2 weeks)
>consistent advertisement of their products (even got a Super Bowl commercial)
>courting many indie devs to release exclusives or release first on Switch platform
>Square Enix actually cares about the platform this time around
>Bethesda actually cares about the platform this time around
>some 3rd parties developing custom versions of games to actually support the platform instead of just making last gen versions of said games (FIFA, NBA 2K18, Doom, etc)
>2018 already looking good with new mainline release with Fire Emblem, a new Kirby, new Yoshi and more we don't know about
It's pretty clear that if The Game Awards Show has a developer of the year award it'd go to Nintendo.
>all downhill
Not if they keep fording ahead with these ideas and turn those vidya IPs into more than just vidya IPs.
I think that Fire Emblem Heroes Choose Your Legend short movie was a pretty clear hint that they want to do more with their IPs.
Also, there was a hidden message on Lucina's spear for the choose your legends Lucina design
>star fox is dead in the water
Miyamoto still has interest, wouldn't be surprised if he tries to fix his mistakes after he's done with the latest pikmin
Nostalgia-pandering
Playing to their manchild userbase with Amiibo and DLC
I'll take you up on that bet, user
It's going to fucking tank. Might even convince Bethesda to jump ship.
Nintendo fans don't buy your average AAA 3rd party games. If they do, it's because they own another platform and get the games on that.
