Riku is a dick sucking faggot in 1, 2 and Days
Riku a shit in 1
But he is best character overall
riku is a bit of a cunt in 1, better after though
None of the characters in Kingdom Hearts are good.
...
I never really got the morality of Kingdom Heart's darkness shtick.
Like is it just embracing dark magic, which gives you a power boost and an increased susceptibility to being eaten by Heartless? Or is it like the force, where it's just the added strength you get from being an emotional dickhead and wearing a darker outfit?
Riku's whole realization that you need both light and darkness to function is defiantly one of the more interesting arcs of the series.
It's not so complex an idea that it would be out of place in a game where you fight with Disney characters but also just deep enough to make you think. I hate that, rly meaks u thingk is a meme now
Wish they did more with it.
What was that, user?
Roxas is a cool guy tho, especially compared to Sora. It's fucking sad when you can take someone's empty she'll and it ends up being more likable than the real deal.
>Riku's whole realization that you need both light and darkness to function
this will be the plot to the next star wars movie btw
Yet it was only valid in CoM, in 2 he "lost" his dark powers because fuck that shit it's bad for you, then in DDD suddenly he can use dark shit again but at the end he's still "Consume the darkness, conver it to light" or some shit
Even Roxas just becomes another dumb edgelord by the end of 2 and especially by the end of 358
Not a better protagonist, but I do realize he is a great character in 1
He is a total faggot in 1 but that's what makes him great
His jealousy and frustration with Sora becoming more capable outside the islands bothered Riku
Riku had a ton of negative emotions and thoughts running through allowing himself to be overtaken by the darkness
if you hate him or thought he was in the wrong, then he did his job right of being Sora's foil
How many times did you have to watch this Sup Forums
4
I just finished terra's story in BBS and have aqua and ventus to go through. Is it worth it to keep going or should I skip it and just go on to DDD? If it's worth keeping going, should I even try for that secret/true ending they've always got?
Yes keep going
The secret ending shouldn't be hard to get unless you're playing under Proud
While the story of Kingdom Hearts is absolute trash the cinematography of that scene is fucking ace.
he's sasuke from naruto done right desu don't @ me desu
Adulthood is not caring about this shit franchise
I still remember my sister walking in during all the dramatic dialogue, and just being like, "Donald Duck...?"
Wrong. Childhood is being edgey and idolizing Riku, adulthood is realizing Sora was the one you were supposed to idolize all along.
>Riku managed to escape from Terra's touch of stupidity. Barely
That's a miracle
want to play kh1 again, dont own ps3/4 to skip all the fucking cutscenes. pc port when
I unironically agree with this statement
Final mix ftw enjoy your mess
I'm a dude, but I always had a bit of a crush on Riku. Not so much now, but when I was a kid I thought he was cool. Now I have a mancrush on Venom in TPP. I wish I was atleast half as cool/capable as him.
Buy a PS3 then.
light and darkness are literally good and evil also they are on the periodic table.
Gay.
you have good taste in boys, faggot.
...
Thanks man.
I played through all of the kingdom hearts (for the first time more or less, I played some of 2 as a kid) a few months ago and jesus christ Riku is so fucking stupid. I always thought his descent to darkness made more sense than Maleficent saying "Hey he cares more about goofy than you".
Terra though, Terra takes the retard cake. Actively helps evil people and then gets pissy over it when Aqua calls him out on being retarded.
At least Riku stopped being a retard in DDD, though that game was pretty awful.
After the shit he delt with in 2 I think he has an excuse. Getting his memory wiped clean and being told you are nobody for someone who actually matters and having a choice between wasting away inside of Sora or as a tool for the Orginization that may or may not betray him with another puppet that an drain his powers
I don't get it. Is Ventus a thousand years old or what?
Roxas is good
Only once strangely enough. Ursula's first fight was at least five times though.
I never lost that fight but I didn't understand what the fuck I was supposed to do, when to fire a spell at it seemed random
They're both horribly written
Yes the true ending is fucking great. You finish just where 0.2 starts
I remember my first impression of the destiny islands trio 15 years ago was that Sora and Kairi looked dumb because they weren't wearing socks, and that I hoped Riku was wearing socks under his pants, but in my heart I knew he wasn't.
Falling for the socks meme. I bet you wear underpants too you colossal fuck up.
Can someone explain KHs to me? Sora was never supposed to get a keybloade, right? He just kind of stole it and turned out to be a natural?
The keyblade was supposed to be Riku's, but at the moment he wasn't fit to wield it so the keyblade decided to go to Sora who already had the heart of a keyblade wielder
Ventus had nothing to do with Sora getting Kingdom Key. I wish people would stop with this misconception.
everyone just turned out to be a natural more or less
DDD was supposed to be "official" training but xehanort fucked with that. The only reason sora went along with it is because Riku had self-confidence issues with DARKNESS and Sora wanted to pal along
hehe
In DDD Xigbar literally say right in Sora's face that Sora's connections is the only reason he can wield the keyblade and that the thing would never choose Sora on its own, and Sora admits it
prove it
That's not what Xigbar says.
He says:
>"Duh! You're strong because of the ties you have with other people. As if the Keyblade would choose a wimp like you. But no pouting. We see much bigger and better things in your future...once you side with us."
That has nothing to do with why he can wield. Nomura says exactly how Sora got KK in KH1 and later confirmed in another interview, that Ventus had nothing to do with it.
KH1:
>---Even though Riku was the rightful owner of the Keyblade, then why did Sora obtain the Keyblade in the beginning?
>Nomura: Even though I would like to keep that obscure, there is a scene in Destiny islands where Riku is being swallowed by darkness, a light appears, and Sora first obtains the keyblade. With the setting I created, the darkness that surrounds them is Riku’s heart’s darkness. At that moment, Sora enters the darkness, and the light he sees inside is Riku’s heart’s light. Sora, who was squirming in the darkness to save Riku, touched the light and temporarily obtained the Keyblade from Riku.
>---Does not the Keyblade itself choose its owner?
>Nomura: The Keyblade reacts to the rightful owner’s heart and appears to them. Even though it was definitely Riku who called the Keyblade towards him, the reason why Sora was able to weild it was because he also had the right qualities too.
>kh-ultimania.livejournal.com
KH2/BBS:
>-- So it's not "Once Sora's story is finished, another hero's story will begin", the hero is always Sora.
>Nomura: Yes. One of the concepts behind the KH series is that the main character Sora isn't special, he's just a normal boy. Yes he does have connections with Ventus' heart, among others, but he hasn't inherited anything from them. He's just a normal boy you could find anywhere.

>Kingdom Hearts in a nutshell
My name is Xehanort. I once read that people fought over Kingdom Hearts and the war was so destructive that it blew up the universe and fractured it forever. But I wonder what would happen if we did it again? Let's find out. In order for me to get to Kingdom Hearts I need the X-Blade. And the only way to get that is to make equal parts light and dark clash.
>Attempt 1: Take my student, separate his heart into 2 pieces and then force the pieces to fight each other making the X-Blade
>Result: Didn't work. As soon as I separated the two pieces the boy went comatose. Also the boy is a bit of a weakling anyway. I'll just dump him on Eraques doorstep and think of something else
>Attempt 2: Now that Ventus has recovered and is stronger I'll force him to fight Vanitas again, making the X-Blade
>Result: The damned thing blew up as soon as their hearts clashed. This is going to take a while. I better steal Terra the retard's body so I can be young again and have more time to figure this shit out
>Attempt 3: Run a bunch of dangerous experiments until I can understand the nature of the heart
>Result: That blew up in my face. Literally. I and everyone that works for me got split into heartless and nobodies. The heartless all ran off and the rest of us suddenly have no emotion whatsoever. Their emotions will probably come back before long. I'll just lie to them until I can figure out how to fix this. My heartless came out looking exactly like me. That has never happened with any other person before. I have no idea where it ran off to
>Attempt 4: Use Roxas to kill a shitload of heartless, so he can release their hearts so I can make a new Kingdom Hearts
>Result: Roxas figured out part of what I was trying to do and fucked off somewhere. Now I have no keyblade wielder to help me with my plan because I lost both Roxas and...what the fuck was that other person's name?
All of the Xehanorts are good. But yeah you're right, all of the good guys are cock sucking faggots.
>I better steal Terra the retard's body so I can be young again and have more time to figure this shit out
I don't know why this made me chuckle.
Adulthood is realizing that Donald Duck and Goofy are all you really ever needed.
You're missing an attempt.
I found out where my heartless went. Straight to hell. Some kid named Sora killed him after he tried to sink a bunch of worlds into darkness and harvest the cobbled together mess as Kingdom Hearts. Also I found out that half my organization also died to Sora, which is fine because they were getting ready to betray me anyway
>Addendem to attempt 4: Get Sora to kill all the heartless instead so that my Kingdom Hearts can be completed
>Results: Ansem showed up out of nowhere and used a machine to blow up my Kingdom Hearts. Which I don't know why I needed that because I know where the real Kingdom Hearts is anyway. I feel I've gotten a bit off track over time.
I was visited by a version of myself today. Apparently I can time travel and just...forgot? Or didn't figure out how to do that yet? I don't know. But I've been recruited into an army of myself in a last ditch effort to make the X-Blade.
>Attempt 5: Make an army of myself, so that I can stand in as the force of darkness, so that I can fight the forces of light, which should generate the X-Blade. Also recruit Sora as a force of darkness
>Result: Plan was stalled because Riku is now immune to the corrupting nature of darkness and rescued Sora at the last minute. I don't know why I needed Sora to begin with since I need there to be a certain number of light warrior to clash with a certain number of dark warriors. And why didn't I just make another one of myself from a different point in time. Not that it matters because the war is still coming and I have to scramble to get everything in place before the heroes get their shit together.

dude what Days is the only well written game in the series
even if the story's ultimately pointless the fact that it wasn't written by nomura made the moment to moment character dynamics better
Aqua and Ventus have superior stories, and Aqua has the best Command Styles so keep going. That and the extra chapter is good.
He was an absolute cunt for the majority of KH1 though.
Here's the gist of BBS's story
youtube.com
Yeah but in 358 he's just AtW's bitch and doesn't contribute much. His whole character arc in 1 and CoM was that he was easy to manipulate and had to overcome that, it's why he went darkside in the first place. Then he proceeds to just be AtW's little bitch for 358/KH2 and only becomes interesting again in 3D.
This will explain everything
He didn't really lose it so much as gain the ability to balance it he's still in ansem form for most of the game until the very end.
>good job aqua
I like to think that his plan was originally well thought-out but Terra's stupidity is causing him to make more and more mistakes
I agree entirely.
This always seemed like a no brainer, and makes you wonder why the Jedi were so retarded
>Jedi are an overwhelming power in the Galaxy
>Sith are rare, and keep themselves generally to the rule of 2
>Jedi want to fulfill a prophecy that balances this out
The funny part is that it's completely accurate to the shit she has to put up with.
Oh my god, this
Quick question, when would you say KH1 picks up? O'm playing the collection on PS4 now, and I just beat Wonderland and I'm on the Colosseum gauntlet as we speak. The gameplay is quite boring so far, mash X, occasionally dodge or spam what three spells I know. Doesn't seem that interesting so far, and I really hate the fucking tracking on the enemies magic.
youtube.com
Nomura makes Riku a better character because he cannot afford to make Sora mature and learn from his experiences. That would make him not fit with Disney characters. That's why Sora is rendered a dumbass who never broadens his horizons by default. It's done on purpose to keep the series going.
I don't see Riku hanging out with Winnie Pooh or singing in Atlantica.
First time playing, I think I lost count. It got really tedious after the 4th time.
You mean the opposite. I gained more of an appreciation for Sora as I got older.
It gets better mid - to late game, really after you get done with the first set of world. But KH1 kind of aged badly.
The tracking on the enemies magic is definitely one of the worst things in the game. That and how so many bosses have their hitbox in midair.
honestly I think most of 1 is pretty bad, though halloween town and hollow bastion were good.
KH1 was never strong on the combat. Later games sped up and added spice to that but at the expense of the world design.
>You will never freeze bubbles again
But to answer your question Wonderland and Colosseum are on the first circle of worlds. You get to the next circle after clearing Agrabah. Hollow Bastion is one of my favorite worlds in vidya period and is when the game stops fucking around. Be prepared for a non-stop assault from enemies and a very vertical world that leads to stronger enemies and bosses the higher you go.
Riku actually had character development in 1. He's probably the only character in the whole series to feature character development.
Riku is a fucking faggot.
BEHOLD THE POWER OF DARKNESS

A fucking ton. Fuck Ansem Riku, dude made me hate this cutscene.

I'd let Riku fuck me in the ass
>"Love doesn't lead to the dark side. Passion can lead to rage and fear, and can be controlled . . . but passion is not the same thing as love. Controlling your passions while being in love . . . that's what they should teach you to beware. But love itself will save you . . . not condemn you."
>this is the attitude that got a man ostracized Jedi
>after he had saved an entire star system
>his face when
Or have his lovely head of hair.
>Riku wants to bone Kairi
>Kairi wants to bone Sora
>Riku opens his world to darkness to impress Kairi, causing its destruction and the loss of Kairi's heart
What a pleasant young man.
I thought it has been reconed into each of the destiny island trio being initiated by ventus, terra and aqua (each pairing being obvious). All they had to was touch the keyblade from a wielder
FER GET ETT
>Gave in darkness just so he could have the strength to save Kairi
He did nothing wrong
While that's true for both Riku and Kairi Sora never actually interacted with Ventus except for in his Deep Dive at the start and in the ending when his heart merges with Sora's.
KH1 is a bit more simplistic than the rest of the series I'd say it get's better around the second set of worlds and Hollow Bastion.
KH1 Hallow Bastion is the peak of the series.
Childhood is idolizing Sora. Adolescence is thinking Riku is the better protagonist. Adulthood is realizing Kingdom Hearts fuckin sucks dick.
