If we exclude the toxic fanbase, who played this through completely and overall thought it sucked?

Fuck off moralfag, we all know your tricks to subvert us into degeneracy.
I was disappointed that it pushed pacifism as the only morally correct choice and that it didn't present more ambiguous situations.
I went in wanting to hate it, but I couldn't. It's a phenomenal game and basically deserves all of its success.
I was at my random ass local mall the other day and there was an Undertale shirt at one of the kiosks. This game is that popular. Toby Fox is only a few months older than me and he's already achieved a level of financial and cultural success that's beyond anything I'll probably ever be able to achieve. I want to be a game developer too, but what's the point if I'll always be living in the shadows of these stars?
I'm going to go drown my sorrows in fast food now.
The degeneracy is the fanbase and I advised to ignore it on this matter. I'm just curious though, did someone finish this and think it was bad.
I played through it once and enjoyed it. It was short but I thought the combat system was fun.
>i don't think undertale is good xD
contrarianism at it's finest.
it wasn't that bad, a neat little game. but holy shit did the fanbase remind me why I in general fucking hate the gaming ''community''
This has to be pasta. You can't be this pathetic.
Well I guess I'm that pathetic. Haven't you ever felt jealous of anyone user? Ever?
I srsly don't keep up whats contrarian nowadays and whats not but whatever I didn't even hint about me any group of people not liking the game. I just asked a simple question. Me personally, I liked the game and it made me happy but "rpg" elements needed more depth because this had none.
Literally only contrarians could say its bad after finishing it. Its not a game of decade or anything, but still nice little game with cute and naive story and a twist, with nice music and simple gameplay that still manages to surprise you from time to time during playthrough.
Its alright
played it once. It was alright
It's not bad, but it's massively overrated
Sena so cute
me. felt ripped off and i didnt even pay for it
It's trash from beginning to end. Almost everything you like about it has nothing to do with video games and everything to do with your feelings.
This desu
>being jealous of rich, influential, powerful people
versus
>being a weeaboo fatass who's jealous of a furry who made a meme game
I try not to remember that this game was basically the work of one guy. I get depressed to know how incredibly untalented I am.
It had a good start but became pretty boring half way through
I was also disappointed by the ending
To the Moon was much more impressive
>toxic
fuck off libturd
Played it from start to finish, true ending and shit, it was an OK game, too short for all the praise it get, inconsistent artstyle all over the place, fun but repetitive battles, baby's first bullet hell shooter, interesting story at least.
Its a solid 7/10.
I try to forget that this game was basically the work of one guy. I get this existential depression when I realize how incredibly untalented I am.
We all have our own value systems, user. I'd rather have the success of Toby Fox than the success of Donald Trump.
I went in wanting to dislike it. I'm so sick of every single time a new indy RPG comes out someone tells me "oh user it's like Earthbound! You like Earthbound, right?!"
But I ended up really loving Undertale on it's own merits. It's certainly not a perfect game; but when it came out it definitely combined all it's mechanics in a unique way.
In terms of it being "like Earthbound" I suppose I should quote Shigesato Itoi on developing the Mother franchise.
>Then a whole lot of friends came over to play.
And they helped it grow as they were having fun as they pleased.
They gave it branches, leaves and flowers,
to what was once a simple story of just root and trunk.
For every person that played, there are that many iterations of Earthbound.
He made a game he wanted to play, and I think Toby Fox did the same.
Undertale is the pumpkin spice latte of video games, playing it is basically admitting you are a video game snob who believes they are better than their friends at school who like Counter Strike. It's the same as buying organic fairtrade coffee to feel superior to the plebs who can't afford it and have to get the 'un-ethical' stuff. It's the same as buying an electric car just to show what a good person you are. It's the same as going vegan and telling peopel about it all the time with constant Instagram updates.
I was trying to play passively but it never seemed to go anywhere. I tried to passively avoid the cow mom boss or whatever but she wouldn't let me pass after like 15 minutes so I killed her, then I got to the skeleton and after 10 minutes of him putting sauce on his neck or whatever I just stopped playing entirely. I'm sure this will be an endless source of "git gud" shit but I found the nonviolent route to be no fun at all because there was zero indication that you were making actual progress in the fights.
Is pic related true?
>there was zero indication that you were making actual progress in the fights.
Instant gratification baby's user spotted. That's what smartphone games do to you.
my opinion>yours
you were just looking to say that anyways you autistic fuck it's a good game so eat a dick
It's an alright game that does some cool things and has some admirable detail to it, but I didn't find it particularly funny nor did I care for the characters save for papyrus. I didn't like the true pacifist ending where it gave you the option to "save" it felt pretty corny and the whole fight in general was a tad cringy. An user here already mentioned the issue with the games push for pacifism and like user said the lack of moral ambiguity in choices bogged down the game for me. I just couldn't take the story too seriously and felt as though it pushed it's messages to a somewhat obnoxious point. It's a nice game to play for an afternoon and I thought it was alright, but weirdly enough I just liked the bullet hell segments and soundtrack which got old real quick.
Fuck off neofag
So many bullshitters come on and fake shit. If you honestly believe this Sup Forums-tier bait then you deserve to be shot.
What that guy is doing is conditioning people to hate Undertale. Thats it. Thats all. Its a double ruse.
The whole point of pushing pacifism was to make the genocide route a very black and white choice, the idea of players killing just because they can
>muh drumpf
Yeah because Trump is the only rich, influential, or powerful person.
>muh pol

It's not a good game. It's a program that's effective at eliciting feelings from pathetic shitters like you. The gameplay itself is a joke. Nothing else in the game can make up for it. Not the music, not the story, not the characters. You might as well read amateur fanfiction if this is the shit you want to experience.
It's not even instant gratification, health bars or boss fight patterns exist so that you can actually feel like you're doing something to progress the fights. If you're doing the various menu prompts over and over and nothing changes it creates a feeling of no progress at all.
There's a reason why the second version of Ninja Gaiden 3 added health bars to the boss fights.
Jesus christ, jumping to assumptions. I'm actually a Trump supporter and I hate liberals. Political power just isn't what I personally aspire to, that's all I was saying.
Same thing. I had pretty much everything spoiled for me going in and thought it was more over-hyped nostalgia bait. It won me over the hard way.

I understand the point, but I find such things uninteresting.
Though I will say the Genocide rouute was cooler to me because you became the ancient evil that had to be defeated, while the other characters became the heroes.
This game was great. Maybe you should try playing it rather than read and write forum posts about it.

I thought the game had some nice little diddies here and there. The gameplay was just a really basic bullet hell, but it worked. I can agree with you on everything else though.

I couldn't get past the annoying writing. Everything else was spot on but the writing makes the game unplayable for me. It tries so desperately to be quirky and cute but it does not work on any level for me.
One reason for this is that the characters don't shut the fuck up. Brevity is the soul of wit but Undertale drones on and on. It wants to be Earthbound but Earthbound's NPCs don't do this and for good reason. Undertale regularly comes to a screeching hault to let the player bask in the quirky likability of their cartoon characters.
Aside from the worst writing and pacing I have ever seen in a computer game, the music is actually some of my favourite. Toby Fox is a much better composer than writer.
The fact that you have that webm just proves you're actually from Sup Forums
KEK
These are the people who think capitalism is unfair.
i like what it does with its rpg elements, as in they're not fleshed out at all if not to serve to the story and the experience, the game is not about systems as it is about themes, and the little that's left of the rpg maker elements help with that, the battles are more like fleshed out encounters where you interact with the enemies and figure out their weakness to defeat them without killing them, and there's pretty much no depth to it, but it gives the world building a big step up
although i do like fleshed out gameplay, i don't feel this game needed it as it didn't really ever feel like it threw a challenge at you except for the genocide route, and i'm happy with that

Some people can enjoy cs, battlefield and cod and other mainstream things but also cant appreciate a little indie stuff with unpolished\raw gameplay elements at the same time. It doesn't take that much effort to enjoy both. Sure there some tumblr snowflakes who want to be special and they like something that masses dont like, they should be mocked.
Liking only mainstream stuff isn't good either. Seeing everyone who enjoy stuff that you cant enjoy as these snowflakes is retarded and should be mocked as well.
