This is probably the closest one if you look at post-Snake Eater Big Boss. Killing The Boss creates that kind of a void inside him and solidifies his perception of combat not needing to carry any further meaning or emotion to be worthwhile. In Peace Walker he literally says "we don't fight because we need to, we fight because we're needed". It's interesting that in mgs3 The Boss blatantly says that Snake is still a child that hasn't found an emotion to carry into the battle, but our special ed Jackie boi ends up turning the whole picture upside down.
