Was 1994-1995 the all time peak of JRPGs?

nah

Yes

Certainly the peak of overrated numale hipster trash, if that's what youre asking.

Mario RPG 7 Stars > FF6

Having said that, I think the PS1 ultimately ended up being even better for jrpgs.

Suikoden is garbage

Shit taste confirmed.

>overrated numale hipster trash
Nice buzzwords, faggot.

I want to understand what people see in the Mother series
I'm not shitposting, I've played earthbound and mother 3 and I just don't get it
Mother 3 I did enjoy but I hated the fact that Lucas just became a standard mute protagonist in chapter 4
Am I in the wrong?

excellent music and a non-weebshit setting

I really gotcha in the nostalgia bone didn't I :^)

Honestly they're better if you played them first as a child.

You are forgetting the PS1. It had FF7, FF8, FF9 and legend of dragoon. FF6 is one of my favorite games but the PS1 was the golden age of JRPS

Suikoden 1 is crazy experimental and ultimately subpar. I think 2 is outstanding, though.

I was mostly talking about:

Breath of Fire 3
Front Mission 3
FF 7-9
Grandia 1
Legend of Mana
Star Ocean 2
FF Tictacs
Lunar: Silver Star Story
Tales of Destiny
Xenogears
Vandal Hearts

And so on. The genre just fucking FLOURISHED for sone reason from 96-99.

And then promptly fell off a cliff around 2001, never to really recover.

Also FF tactics.

I love Dragoon, but replaying it recently made me appreciate that it's not gr8. It's very fun and a treat to experience, but I don't think I can recommend it.

The cinematics blew my mind as a teenager, though.

>square enix will never make JRPGs as good as FF IV - IX ever again

When the PS1 and the PS2 library exists, nah. Also, I keep thinking the GameCube could have used more RPGs.

>It's an old game so it must be nostalgia
>Old games can't be good

Underage detected.

Gamecube at least had 3 or 4. N64 had literally nothing.

Old games are certainly good. You know, like JRPGs from the early 90s that aren't FFVI, Chrono Triggered, or Earthbound.

>not joining the quest 64 master race

Did you own a PS2?

>replying to the most obvious bait on the fucking planet

How new are you?

Maybe but the peak of a garbage genre doesn't mean much tbf

From the N64 I can recall Paper Mario, Quest 64 and if it counts Tactics Ogre. It's still a pile of nothing even when compared to the Gamecube, let alone the PS2 library.

>Muh Final Fantasy

Shining Force and Phantasy Star were better.

wooosh

>1994-1995
Can't be when the best RPG came out in 1997 for PC.

>Oh fuck I look retarded
>I know, I'll pretend I was trolling all along!

...

>some reason
that would be world wide success of final fantasy 7

You need to realize that by the time FF7 became a massive hit, almost all of these other games were in development. I'm sure FF7 was a huge boon to sales, but the vast majority of these games would have come out anyway.
