Baldurs Gate help/CRPG thread

Looking to get into CRPG's, going to start with baldurs gate. Should I get enhanced edition or regular, and what mods should I get for a first playthrough? Recommendations and discussion of other CRPG's here is welcome too.

If you didn't like CRPGs 20 years ago, you won't 'get into' them now. It's a genre fueled entirely by nostalgia.
debate me, nerds

I mean I've had my passing with them, although mostly normiecore stuff. Seeing divinity's new game got me wanting to try some of the older stuffs.

I played BG1 and 2 for the first time in 2015 and '16 respectively and thoroughly enjoyed them. Debate ME, nerd.

I've completed BG1 and 2 about 20 times each and I think you're 100% right. I couldn't be bothered to get into the mechanics and combat system in 2017. It's so much fun when it's muscle memory though.

did you start with BG1? which class did you main? how did you not get frustrated missing wolves for minutes at a time and instantly getting shot to death by bandits?

No you didnt, nerd

Get Baldur's Gate of gog. you get the enhanced edition with the original bundled in.

*off

>did you start with BG1?
Yes, and I actually hold the unpopular opinion of liking it more. I enjoyed the exploration and slowly unraveling plot.
>which class did you main?
Dwarven Cleric in BG1, Fighter/Cleric in BG2 (had to use Shadowkeeper for that).
>how did you not get frustrated missing wolves for minutes at a time and instantly getting shot to death by bandits?
I never really had that issue. It could be because I read the manual, did further research online, and took the advice of rolling a strong character. I think he was like a 90-93 overall.

Oh and Tales of the Sword Coast was also way better than Throne of Bhaal imo.

Best girl incoming

Pirate EE version. v1.3 if you want a solid game. v2.0+ if you want a more tablet/phone friendly game.

True best girl incoming

>used goods

Everyone should get ranged weapons and use them. Spellcasters are crowd controllers first and nukers second (3rd level spells and higher), with the exception of magic missile that you use to disrupt enemy spellcasters because being hit when you're casting interrupts it. Sleep, Grease, Fear, Hold, perhaps Charm, although it's less useful, all these spells are your best friends. A single well placed fear/sleep spell can turn a battle where you're being overwhelmed into a slow walk in the park. Bless/Chant on Clerics + their level 1 Command spell is also very good, few low/mid level enemies can resist it.

But that's everyone.

Getting EE means paying Beamdog and they don't deserve it because they did the same thing modders did for free (easy TuTu), slapped a price tag on it and added their self insert donutsteel OC npc's into the game. Just get regular bg 1 and g2 (best to pirate them because current Bioware doesn't deserve your money either) or get a physical edition off Ebay or something and then install easytutu on top of that. You're done.

>Spellcasters are crowd controllers first and nukers second

my easiest playthrough is solo wiz just going invis and chucking exploding skull/fireballs at stuff slightly out of sight so i can cast without getting agro. I killed Sarevok by chucking web? i think at him and his butt buddies while only getting his attention then used a wand of summons on him until he died

Was talking about party play. Solo wizard is completely different. In party play you won't get those spells until Cloakwood or later.

I cheesed every encounter by summoning the max amount of mobs and savescumming.

>thinking about the amount of dicks women take

But that's gay.

It's pretty important, especially if you don't want your offspring to look radically different from you.

stay solo and go make use of good old Korax to clear out a few basilisks for an early exp boon then grab party friends

It's not the kind of advice I'd give a new player, I would mention Korax and the basilisks though, yes. BG 1 really wasn't meant to be played solo because it's so ridiculously easy.

AH SEEEEEERVE THE FLAMIN' FIST!

I AM THE LAW

If you're trying to start a family yes. But whores will always be whores and must be treated as such. Dwelling on how many penises a whore takes means that you're thinking about dicks.

Did anybody tried the saerileth equivalent for EE? Sandrah npc?

Im playing through baldurs gate 1 right now for the first time. Near the end of the game. Its pretty good, but the areas of exploration are too large and empty and some side quest are shit. Durlags tower is the best thing in the game

Nah its more like

DAARGH SURVE DAH FLAYMAN FAIST

Dunno if I'd call that used, bitch probably fucked the shit out of khalid. I have a feeling an encounter would result in being pushed on your back when you least expect it and a very sore pelvis.

I pirated those. Normally I pay for games, but upon finding the extent of Beamdog's icanhaz/ebaums tier faggotry they can fuck off.

OP here, after doing some research is easy TuTu the only mod i need? What about Sword Coast Stratagems and NPC Project?

lookin for some good crpgs, what are your reccomendations?

I don't think either of those are necessary for a first playthrough. SCS is mainly used to make the game more difficult. It's totally up to you if you want to use the NPC Project, it fleshes out the companions in BG1 but there's no accompanying voice acting.

So fucking glad I bought 1 and 2 off gog before they replaced it with cucked EE version.

I was just poking at that user.

I imagine Khalid being a wuss and Jaheira being a dominator she probably made a wooden strap on and fuck that poor guy to exhaustion.

I tried playing this the other week, but one of my party members kept attacking another party member for no reason at all. Some berserker dude with a hamster for a pet. Just gave up.

Dont use rage next to companions.

Ah. Thanks.

The best way is to send the Minsc alone, active rage in that moment or before the combat starts, with the rest of the group using ranged weapons. When the combat ends just run and avoid combat with him till the uncontrollable rage stops (15-20 seconds? maybe less I dont remember). Dont forget to heal him after.

Guys I'm trying to make a couple of basic npcs and I need some cute wizard girls portraits.
