*single-handedly saves video games once again*
You're welcome baka gaijins.

Gaijin(foreigner)is so arrogant.

You foreigners can work at Japan, study and play.
but it's not your rights.
this is japan,our country.
not yours.
you are not a member of our society.

It's special special favor from us.
Please dont misunderstand it.
All foreigners must think about the importance of showing respect & gratitude for japan.
Surprisingly many foreigners have a mistaken sense of superiority that can push japanese people.
because we Japanese spoilt the foreigner too much.
we'll be only scoffed at by them.
Now,we need to say clearly to silly foreigners.
Remember your place!
BAKA GAIJIN!
thankyou

Fuck you, just keep drawing those anime tiddies and working yourself to death and I'll never set foot in your island again.

>be Japanese
>see dumb gaijin on the train
>silently get my phone out and complain about them on 2ch

5/10
Still struggling to make the consoles relevant in Japan but Smartphone will win in the end.

i dont care for any of those games. im just waiting for MHW

Bad taste tbqh senpai

I don't blame them, he was trying to unleash the Loo Witch upon them.

>Persona 5
Legitimately infuriated at the absolute state of the localisation in that game. Ruined it for me, even. Fuck Atlua USA.

Need to hurry up and learn Japanese because that was unacceptably terrible.

How's that birth rate going?

>No Ape Escape 4

What's wrong with it, it isn't any different other persona games and they were fine.

Add NDRV3 and Japan has basically saved vidya.

All garbage that sells five copies. Nobody is going to be talking about these "games" a year from now.

>birth rate
They already have too many people for their limited land mass

It really ramps up the Engrish and nonsensical phrasing. It becomes nauseating and immersion breaking extremely quickly.

I'd argue it's the worst Atlus USA localisation since the 90s, it is borderline incomprehensible at times. No idea how most of it passed the quality check, let alone how producers and VAs didn't question it.

>Atlus USA
>Quality check

Lol???

I love japan dick.

Its exactly the same as the other persona games, its probably even better since they don't overuse honorifics in this, maybe you should just keep playing because it seems like a bit of an overreaction.

This poster are scum. Are you serious with troll?

I've finished it, and the honorifics are the least of its problems. It is nonsensical at times, and the dialogue doesn't make sense at others. This kind of crap was nowhere near as bad in P3 or P4.

Its a few lines of dialogue in an 100 hour game.

>Its exactly the same as the other persona games
Not even him, but no. P5s localisation is on another level of bad.

Why do japs hate koreans?

>few
In pretty much every single dialogue, there will be a grammatical error, or an awkward phrase, or a jumbled set of back and forth, or an outright piece of Engrish (me near, ok?) that kills immersion.

Just pure hateness.

poor
>Gravity Rush 2
>Resident Evil 7
>Nier Automata
>Arms

decent
>Nioh
>Breath of the Wild
>Yakuza 0

atatatatatatatatatatata
>Hokuto ga Gotoku

>me near, ok?
That's not supposed to be English, its supposed to be autism.

Given the other problems, I wouldn't even say it was intentional.

dumb redditspacing zipperhead

My favorite was "they're holding nothing back and are serious to kill us!"

Such an awkward line

Because they just copy Japanese things and claim that Korea invented it first. They are gullible and will believe anything

I'd give it a New Golden Age/10

>It was always terrible so it's okay

Why do people think this excuses the poor translation?

I would rather have a translation that might sound kind of weird but is understandable and accurate to the source material than a "translation" where they just go full retard and fuck everything up because they think they're improving it.

I want to fuck that island and cum inside her warm land.

I would rather a translation that gets the writers intent over. Anything else is not acceptable, which is what happened with Persona 5.

>would rather have a translation that might sound kind of weird but is understandable and accurate to the source material
So not P5?

>Never played SMT or Persona
>Really want to try P5
>All the localization problems put me off the game
I don't know what's more off-putting, that the errors are there in the first place or that they're not patching them.

based radioactive gook

And Japan is a ripoff of China.

I hear that a lot and it's infuriating, especially when the quality has drifted from even those low standards. I worry for future SMT related games if this is the depths Atlus are reaching for localisation.

>All the localization problems put me off the game
Post some of these localization problems, preferably in the form of screenshots.

Don't let it put you off, all of the people trying to say it has a bad localisation always use the same few lines of dialogue as an example in what is an 100 hour game. To be honest, localisation quality doesn't really affect game quality that much, ff7 is probably the most praised jrpg of all time and that has a way shoddier translation.

There's a whole website dedicated to those problems.

Is that for real?

There will probably be a re-translation done at some point for the PS3 version, I'd hold off unless you're particularly excited about playing it. The localisation problems begin right away and if anything become more noticeable as the game goes on.

Stop being an apologist

personaproblems.com

such bold claims requires a source

Meh.

Samsung has single–handedly destroyed the Japan tech industry.

Only thing ood coming out of Japan these days are cars/cameras/anime. That's it.

The person who made that website also praised fe fates translations, with censorship and meme dialogue, you can't take their opinions seriously at all.

I'd say the localisation quality in what amounts to a VN size script is pretty important, 2bh. And the problems are plentiful, that's the issue.

t. Anthony Burch

That's a hell of a false equivalence for what is essentially a site pointing out indisputable problems with the Persona 5 localisation. Can you honestly say any of the brief examples mentioned are "fine" or "good"?

>Ys VIII
pc version delayed to oblivion so it does not count

You broke my heart with Monster Hunter, you fucking faggots. No Zelda/Mario is the world can fix that. You fucking faggots.

>Oh shit I got BTFO I'd best start the ad hominem game that'll show him
Stop being an apologist.

really activates my charcoal

I understand the whole angle of it being "just" text and that the game itself has carried over just fine, but that's still unacceptable to me. To me, it is on the same level as music glitching out or other bugs. Especially in a JRPG of all things.

>opinions
>pointing out factually incorrect English
And then there's these people that don't help at all. I haven't seen a single level-headed defense of the game's localization problems that isn't apologist shit. I can almost get behind the "it's just a few lines!" thing, but this is just retarded.

No I can't, I can also say that these are a few examples and aren't reflective of the games overall translation

What happened?

Is there anything pointed out on that site that is incorrect?

I don't see what bringing the authors concurrent opinions in to the discussion does but prove you would rather attack the author over the argument. Why?

Admiral Yi

They are, and that's the problem. Grab any 10 linear lines and I guarantee there will be errors.

Sorry

PUBG is goty.

You lost this round you slant eyed fucks

Do you want a defense, in every thread about persona 5 and especially the ones about persona 5's flaws, the localisation issues are almost never brought up, if they seriously damaged the game than you would think that they would be brought up more often but they never are because most people don't notice and it doesn't affect 99% of people's experience.

Because the author who defended a translation that is notoriously awful and riddled with meme rewrites and censorship, and said that an accurate translation should never be expected because it's "too hard", ripped into P5 over some small errors that really don't have that much of an impact on anything and can easily be ignored.

Not bad kinda shitty everyone in Japan is playing games on their fucking phones

They hate North Korea for obvious reasons

They hate South Korea because it became a guinea pig for the degenerate west to test their social experiments in Asia

It is.

Koreans

>Please dont misunderstand it.
Tsundere as fuck, I know you like big fat foreigner cock you slut

Again, you'd rather attack the author over the argument. Is there anything on that site that is untrue?

>small errors
Come on now.

>Piss off every nation in Asia as much as physically possible
>America loses relevance

Will vidya survive the destruction of Japan? I don't think so, no.

Because all asians hate each other. Same as European countries, but even more bitter.

(You)

Actually I'm an argentinian about to move out to Japan.

This isn't even a translation anymore. I guess we're back to the old days of "making up a new script and tossing out the old one" style of localization.

Perfection, unless you like men, in which case you'd be a faggot.

8/10

Because the author, someone who isn't qualified to write his way out of a paper bag, is one of the only people making those complaints and whenever other people bring them up they always use him as their source. The errors do exist, they're also trivial and everyone else ignored them. The only people who keep bringing them up have it out for the game for whatever reason and will look for any petty reasons to complain.

Because you should see the people at the other end, and what they'd want to do with the game.

>Improper English, phrasing and outright nonsensical passages are "trivial"
Stop being an apologist.

>too many people
Literally not a thing.

>some grammar errors but you still understand the meaning
remember, accurate translations are too hard, that's something your precious source also said.

A few (emphasis on few) good releases amidst a sea of trash, like every other year.

The argument is "there is factually wrong translation going on here", which doesn't hinge on the author's opinions. It's not "trivial", its very widespread within the game, much worse than previous Persona games, and much worse than anything they've done in the past, which is why myself and a number of other users are annoyed. If you can't see the quality drop from P3/4 to P5, and more to the point you're willing to overlook it, you're part of the problem

>accurate translations are too hard
?

I'd hold that banner.

Japan always and forever best country. Will always beat shitty American devs by default. Nothing good has come out of the West since Rare's N64 days, aside from Valve and a few exceptional indie games here and there.

2017 Japanese games > 2017 western games

See Sounds like you're just an apologist man.

...

>Confusing "accurate" with "literal"
Ah so you're shitposting. Okay.

That's why everyone hates Treehouse nowadays except retarded nintendo fanboys that would eat up anything they shit out.

Literal translation gets you the absolute gem of "Senpai I can't believe we have been this far, so good!"

I never denied that the P5 translation has errors, they just aren't that big of a deal and have no impact on the ability to enjoy the game for almost everyone who played it.

They have a pretty big impact on the immersion and enjoyment of anything that isn't a dungeon m8.
