It's minor things. But it's less about the censorship itself and more about the way they've handled it.

Initially, they said "due to ratings we have to censor it", and when people pressed and asked the esrb, they said they didn't even get a request to rate it yet, basically, it wasn't even pending. So they flip flopped and said "well a vocal minority has been complaining" and when asked to point them out, they couldn't, just saying "well at our expo appearances..." and people got pissy.

So now they're flinging shit all over and the devs have to deal.

I mean I've dealt with this issue before. I was a community manager (and also had the misfortune of managing PR) for a localized MMO in the mid 2000s. We had a similar issue with lots of complaints about one of the characters being a total whore. So, what we did was we changed it. We saw there was outrage by our c ommunity, and changed it back right away. The people who complained originally pretty much forgot the game existed after we changed it the first time.

Our game died out a few weeks later anyway because no one was buying in, but eh.

Meanwhile the korean library for nexon is like fucking 20+ games strong and every single one manages to post profits. dungeon and fighter/dungeon fighter online, maplestory, and mabinogi are still some of the most profitable f2p games out there, too. crazy.

It hemorrhaged over 96% of it's playerbase in two months. ~800 concurrent player days to struggling to hit 20.
