Literally picks starter that you're strong against

>literally picks starter that you're strong against

...

I miss when you can take five steps in these games without getting your dicked sucked by every NPC in the game telling you how you're the bestest trainer in the whole wide world.

I miss Gary and Silver. Gary in particular. Felt like you should actually feel worried at times. You just gotta get to that Pokemon Center. But oh shit, there's that fuckface Gary, right at the end of the route.
When are we gonna get a rival that's a dick and actually a threat again?

in sun/moon, you're the rival.

I want to do lewd stuff with Hau and make him my bitch.

He wasn't your rival, you were his in this game.

There is entire breakdown about it. It's why you beat him going evreywhere and are always ahead of him. unlike the other games where your rival was always ahead of you.

USUM has him choosing the stronger starter this time

Okay but it's still not as fun.

The fight in Panioli ranch has Hau with 4 Pokemon instead of 2

That's the point. The newer games are there to make you feel like shit and be annoyed at the kid you are a rival to.

Just like gary felt towards you, you get to feel it towards the new fag.

Welcome to woke.

You'd have a point if there wasn't an actual rival character in the game.

Every game bar this one does that. For better or worse S/M attempted something slightly different to usual.

he's alpha af, giving himself a challenge

>Every game bar this one does that. For better or worse S/M attempted something slightly different to usual.
Two and a half games actually. In BW, Cheren was a somewhat competent rival until Alder made him depressed. Also the older games at least left you alone for significant periods of time, the new games just stop the flow of the game just to have an NPC suck your dick.

>For better or worse S/M attempted something slightly different to usual.
No, it did the same shit that gen 5/6 did and cranked it to the max.

I think the reason is that people are more likely to discuss on the internet how being a dick and acting like you're way better than someone doesn't make sense when you lose to them every time. I think the closest we'll ever get to a good rival ever again will be something like Barry. A bro who isn't an asshole, but doesn't suck your dick either.

Yeah but Hau was more bro tier than dick sucking tier than your rag tag group of fags friends from x/y were

>He wasn't your rival, you were his in this game
Dumbfuck, if you have a rival then you are also his rival

Is Hau named after the sound he makes when you ram your cock up his sigmoid colon?

thumbnail looks like he has long orange whiskers

Don't pay mind to the insane razionalitazions of /vp/ users.

>if you have a rival
>Then you are also his rival
No, that isn't how this works. Someone can declare themselves your rival and you not even know they exist.

Literal anime 101.

Kek

whoa

>Draw a girl with short hair
>Staple on a dick and call it a boy
Everytime

Are there any characters in Pokemon that are massive fucking jobbers, like Nakazato?

>he's never seen an androgynous boy in his life

I pity you

Show me one (1) guy who could convincingly pass for a girl

The character this thread is about.

He loses to, literally, everybody, and keeps up a facade of being carefree even when he's losing to both you and your actual rival over and over.

Gladion, your actual rival even calls Hau out on his behavior and basically calls him a fucking loser.

The opposite actually, the rival has to ackowledge you or keep insulting belittle and call you weak even though you are evenly match. Otherwise you are just some other side character

SAUCE PLEASE

My friend

Ash.

but...that's gay user!

>Felt like you should actually feel worried at times
Maybe if you were a shitter, Gary was extremely easy to defeat and his behavior not changing even after you kicking his ass the entire game was stupid

The fact that he keeps up the act until the end is downright impressive and miles better than Serena/Calem, who were fucking whiny losers who did nothing but complain and show up for their daily mounting of your cock

>rock paper scissors game
Too bad Pokemon isn't this. The types are not balanced, the meta is stale as fuck, and the universe is bloated with garbage abilities, pokemons, items, and mechanics. In a single player experience this is fine, in the way that you are only competing against a computer with finally many possibilities, most of them not subject to pseudo-random changes, like plot, and npc trainer teams. As a competetive game, Pokemon is worthless garbage. I would have preferred a rock paper scissors game to this

Ash.

...

Oh my

The entire cast save for maybe Cynthia and some of the gym leaders, everybody jobs to the main character who is ridiculously good at battling for no reason

>type chart is replaced with this
Better?

I remember these games' worlds being a lot bigger than they actually are. You can pretty much bike through any region besides Sinnoh fairly quickly without needing to use Fly at all.

Where's water balloon?

I know it sounds dumb but I wish they renamed some of the types, like grass becoming nature type or steel becoming metal type, It just makes more sense

What?

>First encounter: At Oak's lab.
>Second encounter: West of Viridian City, where there's a Pokemon Center you can rest at first.
>Third encounter: Cerulean City, above a Pokemon Center.
>Fourth encounter: St. Anne, the only encounter where he might catch you off guard. There IS, however, a healer in the ship that you can use whenever you want.
>Fifth encounter: Lavender Tower, the first trainer you can encounter there. There's a Pokemon Center in town you can use before you head on.
>Sixth encounter: Silph Co. building. Due to how the room is set up, it's impossible for him to see you before you see him.
>Seventh encounter: West of Viridian City again.
>Eighth encounter: Champion match, though if you prepared yourself properly, it shouldn't be an issue.

Aside from that final match, there are absolutely no battles where a convenient heal isn't available for you in the immediate vicinity. A "But oh shit, there's that fuckface Gary, right at the end of the route." will never occur. In fact, the only times this DOES occur more than once is Black/White.

>weaknesses
>not just brute forcing your way through everything with minmaxing

Wow, you're retarded

>Sixth encounter: Silph Co. building. Due to how the room is set up, it's impossible for him to see you before you see him.
You can also leave the building to heal or talk to one of the NPCs next to a bed that can heal your party

What is the ideal rival for you Sup Forums? Do you like the Gary ish smug asshole type? Do you like when they are just a friend who occasionally battles you like the ones from gens 5-8?

Generic friend rivals aren't as memorable or satisfying to beat.

But you pick yours first.

I feel like if the rival puts too much airs, like Green, he just comes off as pathetic after you kick his ass to the curb a dozen times.

How about a rival who becomes increasingly frustrated by his inability to defeat you, loses his way and eventually makes a deal with the devil?

I prefer may

only if it's implied that you fuck her afterwards

But you're May.

May was boring as fuck

It is.

This Pokemon game was so bad, I have no words.

I-is it ok to fap? I mean, I won't become gay, right?

She's 12 you pervs

So is the player

It bleeds it breeds

Gary was more like the dark souls of encounters.
His appearances often seemed randomly placed and if you weren't paying attention too closely you could get killed.

Not only are his appearances surprising if you don't expect them, his level is always above the level of the surrounding area, and unless you have a bit of grind in your pokemon, or are powergrinding 1 guy, then his levels WILL take you by surprise

What? But there was always a heal nearby. And they weren't even that strong. I mean, they tended to have high levels, but still.

>You were his
Does he ever win against you? The rival always loses.

>dark souls of
kill yourself

He's right though

The powerlevels in Sun/Moon are fucking weird

>Hau jobs to Gladion
>Gladion jobs to Guzma
>Hau is then able to hold off Guzma despite being weaker than Gladion

>Gary

His name is Blue, you fucking narc.

In that it's easy.

>What? But there was always a heal nearby.
Did you not read anything you just quoted?
He's hard because he surprises you
And yes, they were strong compared to everyone else around. For the first 3-4 encounters, I almost never had a pokemon as high a level as his highest, and the majority of his were much higher than the majority of mine. That ratticate also fucks.

Yeah, but when your Pokemon are a Pidgeotto, Rattata, Abra and Squirtle/Charmander/Bulbasaur, there's really nothing to be afraid of.

Eventually, he gets some better ones, but frankly, his Pokemon are pretty lackluster. If he has a Blastoise, then that's his scariest mon. And maybe his Arcanine, if he doesn't have a Charizard.

The only threat in Gary's team was Alakazam.

You could beat his Pidgeot and Gyarados with an electric type and most of the others weren't much a headache to deal with, but I remember having quite a problem to beat his Alakazam.

On his defense, I nearly wiped to his surprise Raichu.

My favorites were Hugh and Wally. Especially in Emerald and ORAS, the coming-of-age story was as much Wally's story as it was about you. Those battles with him before the Pokémon League and at the Battle Maison were hype.

Hugh was a secondary protagonist in BW2 insofar as he had an agenda to complete. He didn't exist solely as a foil to you for the purposes of pointlessly antagonizing or dicksucking.

face it
the only reason people dislike Hau is because he's the first non white rival

Alakazam might be scary, but his Alakazam doesn't exactly have a scary moveset other than Psychic. On top of that, it can't really take a physical hit.

Alakazam is one of those Pokemon that are scariest if it's in the hands of a human player, but not at all in the hands of an NPC.

I prefer the Silver/Blue archetype of rival, ultimately I don't want a friend because then he isn't your rival.

Seriously
why the fuck would I separate from my friends on a long journey? For what reason?
Hell, Ash runs with a huge crew.
If I was going on an adventure with friends, I'd want them around the whole way.
If I was going to randomly encounter that douchebag from my town, I'd want them showing up in random places.
I don't want the MC to be some cucked friendzoned bitch who's crush/friend runs off without him to fuck chads on his/her way to the elite 4

A rival who isn't your friend is just an enemy.

Because your friends are also your rivals.

Ash just tends to run into friends who don't have the same goals as him.

nah, a rival is someone you're competing against.
You don't often compete against friends, you compete against those you often don't like

>there will never be another gary

p=please just give me a rival with a fucking back bone

That's not fun. If you disliked everyone you competed against, it's pretty lame. Or rather, it just sounds petty.

You must become the rival user. Show all those nerds what true power is. Smell ya later.

Kukui blackmailed him to pick the starter weak to the protagonist. He was gonna sabotage his journey at the start cause he knew the protagonist will go far and have no need for trash.

kill yourself

Well, I argue that Blue was never a friend to begin with. Ultimately it just comes down to the type of rivals we got after gen 5 where essentially its the same thing, except they're really friendly and suck at battling. Its less about not traveling and having friends, more about the fact that """rivals""" are essentially glorified friends in the later games.

>no rival that steals your friends, bullies you, cucks you and demoralizes you at every opportunity

They're after the same things as you. They also want to become Champion. That's why they're rivals. There's only one seat, so you have to compete with them.

>Blue was never a friend to begin with

I remember reading in the manual Blue and Red were actually friends at first but Blue grew distant because reasons

Blue was the asshole you didn't like when you were younger

Modern day everyone are too much of little bitches for realistic things or hard truths

Yeah, but they're hardly that. They may as well be laying on the fucking road for you, its less about being fucked up by some big bad and more about them being more challenging I suppose.

Competition. Unfortunately, he's one of those types who can't feel like he's friends with someone he's competing against. I guess he lacked maturity.

Friendship and rivalry aren't mutually exclusive. You can like someone and be friends with them, enjoy spending time with them, even if they're competing against you. Some might even say that rivalry can forge the strongest bond.

I don't understand the hate for Hau. I think he's easily the best character in Pokemon. I'm really tired of the dick rivals who want to be strong just because. He's a little happy goofball of sunshine and happyness and it's nice to actually have a recurring character that is your friend and not trying to fuck you up.

if ya hacked your 3ds you could randomize the game and increase the levels with pk3ds

I always took him for a jealous rich kid that dislikes the fact his grandfather seems to favour you. I don't have the manual unfortunately, and I haven't read the manga which came after.

How does it feel to know Haru had more fun during SM than you did playing it?

We've had 2 already with backbone, high and Gladion
