1997 saw three separate megaman franchises getting games (original, X, legends). The first few years of the 00's had all of the above getting at least one game with the addition of two entire new series (battle network and zero) for 5 distinct types of megaman games all being contemporaries with eachother
The later half of the 00's had some of these series drop off, but we still had X, Battle network, Zero, ZX and star force all get games within the span of 2005-2006 for 5 more franchises all running at the same time. The total list of megaman games is over 130 and the series lasted over 20 years, why are people still so eager for more and feel like it's some kind of outrage when it's clear that capcom gave people so much megaman they got sick of it?
there's no closure. Either let it die, or make more games. It's that simple. they keep dragging it through the mud.
>here have a shitty mobile game that nobody wants and nobody will like
>here, have some merchandise! >here, have some more lazy merchandise! >oh, oh, here's a limited edition statue! >yaaay happy 25th anniversary Mega Man! >whats that? 25th anniversary game? >hahaha here have another 1-6 collection. See you in 5 years! >yaaay happy 30th anniversary Mega Man! >what's that? game? here, have another collection. meanwhile, look at this mega man themed WATCH! >and look! a Mega Man onsie! >haha ok, goodbye!
people wouldn't be upset if it was one or the other. either let the franchise die and acknowledge that, with maybe a cameo or two here and there and some merchandise only every once in a while, or make an actual game to go with that yearly stream of mindless merchandise.
Capcom keeps insisting they care about Mega Man, when the only thing they do is make shitty mobile shovelware or stupid merchandise.

I don't care if there's never a new Mega Man game ever again, since Capcom is clearly only capable of porting their older games that don't suck ass nowadays, but they keep pretending like they give a shit about it.
If the IP is so profitable that you can keep shitting out half-assed ports and merchandise, why not make a new game?
Aaron Turner
I only want new Mega Man games because the classic series and X are solid action-platformers that could last forever and the Legend series is unfinished.
Give me Legends 3 and some kind of Mega Man Maker and I'll stop asking for new ones.
Brayden Brooks
They should give the IP to Nintendo.

I agree OP. It's pretty obvious Capcom can no longer innovate with Megan which is why the dropped it.
Old Rock man got stake around MM4. X series peaked at 4. Battle network dropped off after 3. Zero got perfect closure.
There's no where else to go aside from wrapping up Legends 3.

x4 is the definition of style over substance

And yet it was still much better than games afterwards
