Let's have an honest talk about what vanilla Oblivion did better than vanilla Skyrim

Let's have an honest talk about what vanilla Oblivion did better than vanilla Skyrim.

Oblivion had a quest where you had to jump into a painting and explore a painting world.
Skyrim got nothing on that!!

Better?
What did vanilla Skyrim do better than vanilla Oblivion?

every quest wasn't a fetch quest

As long as you own both, you're OK with me.

glad to hear that todd-user

oblivion actually had writers for their quests.

Skyrim > Morrowind > Oblivion

I liked Skyrim, but then I tried t play Oblivion and the potato faces made me quit.

...

the mage guild.
the dark brotherhood.

>Oblivion quest
[unique story and task]

>Skyrim quest
[go to this draugr-hole and fetch this]

You can stab your way through the mage's guild questline in Skyrim. Nuff said.

Well, the glitches and exploits were fun in oblivion.
Spell making and enchanting seemed to be a lot better too.
Other than that I thought that they were both pretty mediocre.

Spellcrafting in Skyrim would actually be ridiculously good, and enchanting is likewise way more versatile behind the scenes than it is in game. They just never allow you to get hands on with it unless you go into the Creation Kit.

I liked being able to have a shield equipped and still throw spells in oblivion

skyrim gave us dual cast magic and dual weapon wield but i lost my heavy armor long sword shield fireball build

Oblivion is legit more comfy

while oblivion had better quests i enjoyed the quests in skyrim more because it was taking place in a better looking world.

I forgot that Spellmaking wasn't in Skyrim, but it's something they should've kept. Though I guess it was stupidly unbalanced and OP in Oblivion.

The only thing Oblivion has going for it was some already shallow skills that get cut in Skyrim and some decent quest writing. Emphasis on "some".

Besides that they're mechanically, and damn near visually, the same game.

my first game was skyrim. it introduced me to the world of the elder scrolls. because i loved skyrim so much i went and bought oblivion, morrowind, and downloaded the other ancient games. if it wasnt for skyrims design that favored casuals i wouldnt be enjoy spending hours on these other great games. skyrim is the gateway drug to the rest of tamriel.

>mfw enchanting a full set of 100% Chameleon armor so you can just run past every enemy

>I do this
>mention it to some friends
>they call me a cheater
Plebs. All of them.

Comfier world and funnier characters. Skyrim takes itself way too seriously and the characters just feel like cardboard cutouts. It's hard to tell the man-races apart.

Better and varied combat due to dual-wielding alone.

>Revenge of the Enemies
>Mortal Enemies
>Wildcat on Legendary difficulty
>TKDodge
>No magic
>No Stealth
>No shields
>No followers
>No armor
>Can't buy health

Rate my current Skyrim run.

Oblivion had more varied and interesting aesthetics for its towns. Skyrim just has this dirty peasant vibe to everything that isn't Solitude or Markarth.

They're just mad they didn't think of it.

t. did the same

Speaking of Oblivion, is there anything even remotely on par with it? I ask because I just recently modded my game to the breaking point and now my save is fucked.
