I liked the first one a lot, the rest I dunno
Its alright it does nothing better than Sonic 2 & 3 but its good for being portable sonic.
1 > 2 > 3
Amazing.
1 is the best overall experience, but 2 and 3 both have really good things about them.
The worst thing about 2 is the special stage/Chaos Emerald system and the worst thing about 3 is the level design (and some of the nerfs that happen to your character when partnered).
No.
Played the first one a bunch when i was a kid. Revisited it a few months back and it was pretty lackluster. Way to much vertical platforming, especially in later stages
Sonic Advance was pretty solid.
Sonic Advance 2 had some neat ideas, but also dash pads up the ass. Also, there are long stretches where you don't really do anything but hold right because the gameplay is 70% "go fast", but at the speed you're moving it's kinda hard to really react to anything. Some people argue that Sonic games too fast for people to react to, and while I don't agree most of the time, I feel like Sonic Advance 2 fits that idea to a tee.
Sonic Advance 3 can be broken just by having Cream as your partner.
Cream just breaks everything in general.
Yes, except for special stages, they're always crap.
The only people who complain about Advance 3 stuck to Sonic for every level.
1's great right up to egg rocket, music and graphics are meh though
2's okay with some really iffy stage design in several spots, but at least it looks and sounds better
3's jank. Worse handling, worse stage design, slower. The graphics and sound are great, and the partner system is cool, but this is around the time when Dimps started to really suck with stage design. Rush is an exception and moves back to more Advance 2-ish layouts, but Rush's mechanics help out a bunch in the worst spots
Sonic Advance 1 is good until Egg Rocket, when the level design shits the bed.
Sonic Advance 2 has Egg Rocket-tier Level design through the whole game so the whole game is trash, Sonic Advance 3 is just clunky and bad.
Sonic Advance 3 is great it just has a higher skill floor that requires learning the level layouts and picking the team that suits you best for each level.
The Hub World can give you an idea of what to expect in each world which is very nice.
Some bossfights in the first game like the one in the casinostage and in the ice level are pretty lame as well. The mystic ruins act 1 also has those annoying disks on which you have to run to make them move forward
2 > 3 > 1
1 is alright. it plays it way too safe for my liking in almost every aspect and the level design is mostly standard platforming which felt a bit boring to me. Even the music is just eh for me, although it does have some good tracks. Also, idk why but people seem to forget that 1 had a lot of dickish traps in it when they talk about such in 2/3
2 is personally my favorite of the series. I think the level design is actually the best out of the 3, I've never really had any issues with pits or spikes at the edges of platforms, even though they do happen. This is probably due to the trick system which might be one of my favorite additions to the sonic formula, it just melds so well with both keeping your flow going and getting to alternate routes. The music is also a step up, although I don't really think its amazing. The boss fights are a stark change from the norm and while I can see why people wouldnt like them (especially the sky levels boss), I don't mind them personally due to the fact almost every character has a way to cheese them.
3 is odd. It feels like it tries to be an inbetween of 1/2, with a solid mix of speed and platforming. This doesn't really work super well at times due to the terrible level design, with crushing blocks that are sometimes unavoidable if you reach them at the wrong time. This is slightly circumvented with using the pair up system to skip certain sections, but when you can't do this the game loses a lot of points in my regard. On the flip side, the music side of things is fantastic, it's easily the best out of the 3 in that regard. As for the bosses, they're probably the best in the series. A few iffy ones here and there but for the most part, they're fun
...
This shit
They're better than the genesis games and Mania.
>Egg Rocket
>Bad
That's the best level in the game though
Lewd.
I love the sprites and animations in these games. I felt like they really conveyed the personalities of the characters well and much more concretely than anything that came before it, even the 3D games with dialogue.
I liked the whole series but 3 is pretty poor if only because of the level design. The concepts are alright, but it never hit the peaks of the first two for me. Plus in 3 they took out the mini chao garden (iirc) by making it a linked game thing.
Sonic advance 1's special stages can eat a dick
Mah nigga, Egg Rocket has the best music and might be the only noteworthy track in the game
Yeah I could never get the last emerald because you literally had to be perfect with collecting the rings at some point I said "fuck it" and just used a Gameshark to get to the secret zone.
>Cream just breaks everything in general.
explain
She can fly and she can attack anything with zero risk because of her chao. She was literally designed to be easy mode for both Advance 2 and 3.
Playing it right now, zone 2 act 1 and zone 5 act 1 have pretty nice music too
I only played the first one, but I really liked it. Physics were solid, wasn't GOTTA GO FAST bullshit like the later Rush games, good level design and themes, etc.
Definitely underrated.
...
Sanic Advance was clearly only meant to be played by Sonic. Playing as Knuckles or Tails makes the game a joke.
Amy is hard mode.
2 < 3 < 1
I loved Advance 1 a lot mainly due to the fact that it's the only one I physically own. I've played 3 and 2 on an emulator but it doesn't really come close to the original.
Also get Sonic Rush while you are at it.
wait I think I just fucked up my best to worst list.
It's 1 as best, then 3, then 2.
See timestamp
Nah you did it right
Sonic 3&K gave Knuckles a lower jump than Sonic and Tails
I don't recall if the Advance games ever applied that to him.
I think technically slightly shorter jump, but it never was enough to actually be a downside.
I just remember playing the icewater and sky zones as knucles and it being a total joke as I just climb up the walls
It's too zoomed in
>Amy becomes a Sonic clone in 2
I'm glad I never bought that game.
Amy in sonic 1 was ok to play as but she had more cons than pros in my opinion, I never unlocked her in 2 but I can see why they changed her.
Never got to play any of the games versus modes were they ever good?
Everybody is a sonic clone with a gimmick
Amy just requires some getting used to. She's easily the 2nd best character after Sonic.
inb4 low scoring Tails and Knuckles mains try to say otherwise
>Mommy, why is this hand rail all slimey?
>tfw you really like advance 3 and don't like advance 1&2
am I beyond saving?
They're all worth playing. 3 less so, but if you play 1 and 2, you may as well give 3 a shot.
Advance 1 is good
Advance 2 is great, if you ignore the special rings
Advance 3 is bad, i absolutely hated advance 3
advance 3 has some of the worst level design in sonic period
Advance 3 has the amazing partner system and complex but rewarding level design.
It isn't made for casuals.
Did anyone have that bundle package of sonic adventure1/ sonic battle? Pretty amazing how all that fit into a regular cartridge. Sonic battle has to be one of the most retarded, cringy and unbalanced fighting games of all times, so naturally i was autistically good at it
nice shit taste
>amazing partner system
>removes features from a character depending on your partner
>can't fly as tails with knuckles as my partner, can't glide or climb walls as knuckles with sonic as my partner
>along with locking progress behind having certain partners
>complex and rewarding level design
>when advance 3 has some of the worst level design in a sonic game
>with spikes all over the fucking place, shit enemy placement, crushing blocks in a game that wants you to go fast
>and when the game doesn't want you to go fast, the acceleration of advance 3 fucks you up during platforming
apply yourselves
Sonic Advance 2:
Sonic:
>B: Sliding Kick
>Jump-66: Air dash
>Jump-A: Double-Spin
>Jump-A: Homing Attack (conditional)
>Jump-B: Bounce Attack
Cream:
>B: Cheese Shoot
>Jump-A: Fly
>Jump-B: Cheese Shoot (aerial)
Tails:
>B: Tail Spin
>Jump-A: Fly
Knuckles:
>B: Punch
>Jump-A: Glide->Climb
>Jump-B: Diving Punch
>8: Taunt (only taunt in the game that can damage things)
Amy:
>B: Hammer
>Jump-A: Hammer Attack (aerial)
>Jump-B: Spinning Dive
Cream's flight ability is more horizontally oriented, so she moves forward more while her vertical movement is limited. Tails is the opposite. Knuckles' punches are all useless. Everything else is completely identical between characters, meaning they all have the traditional Jump Attack, Spin Attack and Spin Dash.
It is difficult, but not unrewarding. You can get good at Advance 3, and do some creative tricks with each of he partners.
damn nigga, is this sthg?
>They'll never bring Gemerl back
nobody's bitching about porn artists in here so no
>Emerl's orgins become relevant
>Still no Gemerl
da fuk?
source?
Yes. 3 was pretty bad, but the first two are great.
I don't know why anyone claims SA2 is better than SA1 though. Literal hold right to win.
...
The first one is good, if derivative. I don't care for the other two much. There's too much emphasis on GOTTA GO FAST at the cost of everything else, with a lot of weak level design.
The first one is pretty good though. I like it more than any of the handheld games (or any Sonic game, really sans Mania) that came out after it.
