wtf? is divinity a good game? barely heard anything about it
it's slow, and plays sluggish. but i guess if you're used to boring slow entirely story-driven games. perfect for all those 30+ year olds that are too slow and are motion-sensitive so they get a headache when playing too fast games xd
fucking normies like this game.
wow, guess i'll just have to pirate it then
>tfw I'm going to buy Blue Reflection instead
suck my wiener
how Obisdiandrones will ever recover?
It's a lot of fun, good combat, lots of enemy variety, fantastic level design... It's weakpoint is the writing which is core in a CRPG but if you can get past the lolwhat dialogue it is a game solid as fuck. I personally give it a 9.
ok pack it up boys, nothing to see here. It turns out Gamespots ex employee is now working at Larian so they gave it a 10 as a friendship token or some shit.
PS4 When.
>good combat
what does that even mean? I see lots of people pretending soul games or the witcher has "good combat" too and it all sums up with "I don't have to do complicated shit, just roll and spam".
Game got a 94 overall, so I guess they have agents at every single review outlet
>Legit good game is out
>Sup Forums bitch about muh paid reviews
Seriously, is this from jelly consolefags?
I think it's just Sup Forums being Sup Forums
consolefags, obsidrones and normies in general (i see a lot of people here shit on the turn based combat which in divinity is actually awesome).
>believing in the release hype from a political piece
It's shit right?
>Doesn't know that game "journos" are all butt buddies.

Another strike for Bad should be the tuning of the difficulty system leads to fights either too easy, or way too hard, as well as the weapon scaling system.
Sup Forums eternally unironically BTFO
It's turn based with a lot of variety. Your characters get to choose their skills however you want this means that you may start with a warrior which has earth control as a basic skill but you may end up as well become a rogue that shoots fire. Enviroment is a huge deal because with the elements and all you can create hazardous zone for your enemies and safe spots for your friends. For example, if you cast rain and then shoot a fireball in the puddle of water you get a tiny cloud which will cure burning, however if you use a thunder spell there it will become a static cloud which can stun you.
Using the enviroment for your advantage, get the right positioning and overall the amount of skills the game has are a shitton of fun imo. Bosses are really challenging too because most have one or another extra skill and immunity which can fuck you up.
>detailed plot
This doesn't tell me it's good. These days I couldn't give a fuck about combat, exploration or all that bullshit. Give me a good story in a game.
>It's turn based
Damn, that kills it for me. Really wanted the game.
That's nice, it's still an isometric CRPG, which makes it shit.
Ditto.
Its based on DnD. Its an initiative system where all units get slotted into a turn.
IT'S NOT ATHEIST ENOUGH FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!

>tfw just cannot get into RPGS
I can spend whole afternoons reading books, but get bored 30 minutes into the games
This
Normies like fast pace muh action cover shooter games
It's kind of an evolution of the VATS system from Fallout 1 and 2, with one of the better tactical elements I remember from Dragon Age: Origins, the baked-in backstab positioning and the ever important tabletop combat mechanic of Attacks of Opportunity.
There's a lot of focus on stripping enemy's defenses to make them vulnerable to various forms of crowd control, and every style of combatant has ways to reposition themselves via dashing, leaping, flying or teleporting.
Knocking down, petrifying, polymorphing, pinning people down to the ground, warping them away, making the floor slick with ice or coating things with a spray of oil and igniting them with fire, making it rain blood, all kinds of shit is there.
It uses the basic D&D setup of turn order based on initiatives where each person eventually gets one turn per round before it goes back to the top. You get 4 action points to spend each turn on spells, attacking, and/or movement. You start combat with 6/6 AP, regain 4 AP at the start of each turn, and can bank unspent points back up to the maximum of 6.
The stealth is also useful as fuck, and to top it off it has one of the things normies always love in WRPGs: pick-pocketing and stealing shit from all the NPCs is majorly profitable and in fact feels mandatory at times
called it
Stealing is so broken with undead.
>steal all the shit
>play dead
>vendor run everywhere searching for the thief
>wait a bit
>he give up
Hello, I'm a normie and 30+. I'm not motion sensitive but I do agree, most of my friends like games with a good narrative. Maybe it's because we don't have time for shitfests and weeb games so we pick proper ones.
>confusing quest journal
this seems like some major nitpicking, is the quest journal really that "complicated?"
Have you ever considered combining the waypoint system and stealing?
>stealth max gold
>instantly teleport away
Literally cannot get caught, no special character/traits required.
I don't know if complicated is the right term, but I do often find myself reading over a list of quests multiple times before finding the right one.
The real flaw is how vendors, leveling, and looting interact. They upgrade their gear and render all the stuff you looted out in combat instantly useless 99% of the time. I actually go to vendors and pray they don't have something better than the cool new item I got after a tough fight.
>you start combat with 6/6 AP
No you don't. You start with 4 unless you took some particular feats. The rest of your post is accurate though.
Good thing I torrented it then.
all you have to do is walk up and talk to the person being pickpocketed. Then, have your other two party members go chat up any nearby people that might discover the act of pickpocketing, pointing them away from the target of the grift. Then, have the pickpocket unchained from the rest sneak up behind, steal all the shit, and high-tail it a full screen distance or two away somewhere. then, end all the dialogues. When the person notices they've been stolen from, let them search your wares: they'll only search the 3 people that are still nearby, and won't even realize there was a fourth that's gone. And then you get away with it scott free, no persuasion check or anything
Whoa, I didn't know Divinity 2 was THIS good. Holy shit
Yeah I'm genuinely curious myself. Haven't played the first game or even looked into this one but it's looking like consolefags being assmad a PC exclusive is competing with Bloodborne or BotW review wise.
This pretty much. Reddit drools over this game because it's a normie heaven. They get their rick and morty tier "humor" on a game that demands zero skill and they even get to pose as le ebin nurrds for playing rpgs.
>fucking normies like this game
lmao thats not Destiny 2 faggot
I had the same reaction and turns out the game is legit, I'll probably support the official release once it is 20 bucks
Why does Sup Forums hate this game? Is the writing full of sjw shit or something?
>Why does Sup Forums hate this game?
"They" don't. Every-time one of these threads pops up it just ends up being people discussing the actual game, because people are actually playing and enjoying it.
Sup Forums is full of consolebabies and millenials who think turn based combat belonds in the 90ies.

What? Where the hell do you get your "facts"?
It's a good game with some issues. Finished it yesterday with about 75 hours on the clock. Not sure if the expansion/sequel baiting at the end was really necessary.
They really did a great job turning Glass Cannon into complete shit
How toaster friendly is this game?
It's just a few people who constantly copy and paste the same posts over and over.
You'd be surprised how far it can go if people are autistic enough in their dedication to shitting on something
Wait it's turn based? Cause I will buy that shit right now senpai

I've only ever seen positive threads about it
Yes the combat system is turn based.

LIAR REEEEEEEE
Casual garbage confirmed
nu-gamespot is shit, in fact all nu-gaming journalism is beyond garbage
read a book or vn
It is a damn good game, but is undeserving of the hype it's getting, at least that's my opinion on it after playing it pretty hardcore since launch.
It's cool to see a game like Divinity getting such rave reviews but I'm afraid they will end up masking the flaws that the game currently does have.
Like others have said the writing isn't terrible but even as a fan I can't say that it's a strong point either.
There are also a shitload of bugs still in the game, Fort Joy seems pretty well polished but the further you get into the game the more bugs you will run into, quests bugging out, characters disappearing off the face of the planet etc. The combat is good and could be brilliant if they sorted out the issues that a lot of folks seem to be having, from what I can tell a lot of it seems to originate from the hitboxes but I'm not a game dev or anything so it could stem from something else.
I'd give it a pretty solid 8/10 myself, could easily go up to a 9 if they fixed the bugs and rethought some of the more retarded quirks the game has.
Of course it was going to get a 10. It's literally GOTY.
i do read books, but games are capable of telling different narratives that are unique to the medium.
just like real life
>Fort Joy seems pretty well polished but the further you get into the game the more bugs you will run into, quests bugging out, characters disappearing off the face of the planet etc.
Yeah. I never met Tarquin in Driftwood. At one point he just suddenly appeared on the boat. I did find all the parts for that demon weapon he's after but he wouldn't talk to me about assembling the weapon. And then in act 4 he started yelling at me how I didn't help him with the blade and how it's now too late (I had the damn weapon parts in my inventory since act 2).
Personally, I think the game looks shit, visually, I mean. The art style has become a little too realistic for the goofy tone and the UI lost almost all stylisation the first game had.
Maybe not 10/10, but a solid fucking 9/10 imo
Combat is great, graphics are great, scope is huge, story is great (subjective, but I like it), exploration is worthwhile.
I only have 2 issues with it:
one is the attempts at humor - a bit infantile and really you either love it or hate it. This goes for most of the writing, as the main characters are quite shitty imo, but you have the option to make custom ones so doesn't matter much.
Second is the item / level scaling, I don't really see the point of making every stat/number exponential. The fact that every single level you have to regear your character completely feels like a fucking chore, seeing how much stronger gear gets at every level, and you progress levels every 1-2 hours.
Other than this, honestly the best game I've played this year, and I really fucking enjoy it. First playthrough, at about 70 hours and not finished yet, will definitely replay as well with a different setup.
>tfw this year has actually pretty gud so far in terms of gaems
See, that's what I don't like about this whole game: stealing shit or dumping points into Lucky Charm is absolutely mandatory to own good equip because drops are so rare it's ridiculous. And without cutting edge equip every battle starting Act2 is a slow torture where random goon can drain your armor in one hit and then proceed to CC your party into oblivion.
How the fuck did Larian afford this? I thought they were barely scraping by.
Game is bretty gud overall aside form UI being shitty because of the things like hotbar and inventory being a clusterfuck to manage sometimes or journal being broken at the moment along with party skills not being party wide auras that makes you do all the hassle of
>only talk to NPCs with your main character with persuasion
>only talk to animals with your character with pet pal
>you should put pet pal and persuasion all the way up in your main character because of that
>only collect loot with your character with lucky charm
>move all the items you want to sell to your character with bartering
>only sell stuff with your character with bartering
Leadership is aura based and loremaster automatically identifies things with the highest loremaster character so I don't see why devs can't just change a few lines of code on a next patch for these things to make playing the game more enjoyable for everyone.
same shit here, the faggot never went to Stonegarden
Also plenty of them in Driftwood were bugged, and the Fort Joy ones were always unfinished, despite having completed them
Annoys my autism really, really bad
I might have taken too much time with sidequests because I completely almost everything in the first 2 acts, but now I find that the game is a fucking cakewalk.
Warrior/poly main char just 2-hits everything in arx at level 17-18, casters and ranger just clear up anything left after he finishes turn 1
I don't like the armor mechanic. It really ruined the game for me because it limits how I can play on tactician. I feel like I need to cheese everything.
This game gets miserable in the later acts. Combat is too slow and it's just not worth following this story along.
Feels like every battle ends with environmental hazards all over the place, but they don't even matter anymore and are just there to be a visual bother, because of magic armor.
Itemization is real shitty and straight out of korean MMO. All that matters is level, you're constantly finding new better stuff as soon as you level up.
Half the stats are useless. Especially wits.
I give it a 6/10. I liked the first one better.
Why post Eder? It just makes it obvious you're a buttblasted Obsididrone.
Eder, stop it you got no chill
What is a buttblasted Obsididrone and why does that nullify my opinion on the game?
Literally who?
you're absolutely right Eder!
If you want a real CRPG for big boys, just wait for Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire by Obsidian Entertainment!
This, but unironically.
are u tard? Normies play CoD, FIFA, Pes, BF etc etc, shhoters and sports game( sometimes LoL)
never ever

The holy trinity of being always wrong?
Isnt this coming to consoles?
Pretty much, they are all completely hopeless at discussing their topics, and are all high pop retard filled boards of strawmanning and hypocrisy
Is it worth playing 1 or should I just jump into this?
Sup Forums is cancer, why do you bother?
This and Zelda BOTW are the goty, waiting fo Mario Odyssey, and i have a little hype for Shadow of War.
But why? How are three big boards so consistent in being wrong?
more people
more bad loud opinions
>Legit good game
>boring and very easy combat
>magic armor makes everything useless
>no real dialogues
>horrible visuals
>horrible "humor"
It's simple really, and applies to most any board or site tbqh
If you've got too few the threads turn to self bumping, in jokes and other waifu cancer to stay going, this sort of shit is highly prevalent on /VG/
Then you got low to mid pop, which is fine, because you got the people who really know their shit posting, discussion is flowing and no retards are drowning people out
Then at high pop groups start reaching consensus and fucking around, posters that try to help or share their great knowledge get drowned out by flamers, shitposting and general spastics shitting everything up for everyone, which is why all high pop boards are Reddit filled cancerous trash
I will never understand why no life shitters spend all day desperately trying to shit on vidya as much as possible on to get constantly BTFO.
Why do you do it to yourselves?
I don't get it, didn't this game came out like 2 weeks ago? Why is everyone still shilling reviews?
It's the lack of social interaction. Trusting some random basement dweller who last went to a theater years ago to make an accurate assumption on a movies success on box office or some autist who didn't even played the game he is shitposting about for tortanic maymays would be just plain funny. It only gets worse when you realize that they are being contrarian hipsters just for the sake of it and when you point it out you make them scream "n-normie! shill! redditor!" or whatever the buzzword strawman is popular at that board.
