Castlevania thread

I've been emulating Rando, but I've been having a bunch of bugs with it. It's the version that's included in the shitty remake, and it constantly has the music cut out, has the screen freeze, and sometimes just completely crashes PPSSPP. Oddly the same thing happens with the SotN port that's included with the game, but the remake runs completely fine. Anyone know how to fix these problems? Also Castlevania thread.

emulate pc engine version

>Anyone know how to fix these problems?
Emulate the original versions of the games

wii version is the easiest to emulate on dolphin

Guess I might as well just do that. What's the differences between the PC engine version and the Wii version?

emulate pc engine version or download the "windows port"

Curious, anyone in this thread bother to play any other PC Engine/Turbografx games? It's one of my favorite consoles

Seems like the only popular ones are Rondo, Ys and Bomberman 94

It feels good to play, and IF YA DON'T KNOW NOW YA KNOW. NIGGA.

So do I just get the translation patch from theisozone?

Whats the best way to play SOTN? Aside from on an original PS1?

>he says Castlevania 4 is too easy
>he doesn't keep a save state at the start of hard mode

Blazing Lasers

>want to get into the older 2D Castelvanias
>modern graphics have spoiled me too much and the sprite shit is a massive turn off

360 has an HD port

don't be a fucking underage pleb and learn to appreciate old grafix

Does the loop add extra enemies or what? The whip range feels like cheating and makes regular enemies incredibly easy. The traps everywhere and some boss fights are the only source of difficulty. If it just beefs up enemy damage I'd rather do another run of Chronicles than waste my time with it.

Play The Adventure Rebirth then, that game looks great.

Rondo > CV3 > Bloodlines > SCV4 > everything else.

Extra enemies and I think some might have a little extra health. Caught me off guard, was surprised how much I was dying in the early levels.

I can't seem to get the PC engine version working with Mednafen. You just drag the .cue on to the .exe like PS1 games right?

Oh I'm a dumbass, I need the BIOs.

So is there no way to get the PSP port working without bugs? I would like to use it over the normal PC engine version because I can customize the controls with the PSP port.

Do any of the Metroidvanias focus on whip users?

Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance and Portrait of Ruin to an extent

>being this casual

So why does everyone love Rondo so much? Playing through the PC engine version now it seems sort of bland in the gameplay and level design. The art and music is fucking 11/10 god tier, but other than that the levels seem really bland so far, they're just straight lines most of the time. CV3 had way more interesting level design. However I am only on level 2, does it get better from there?

All the different paths make it really enjoyable for me. I always try and pick a different path each time. Playing as Maria is also super fun.

i can't remember the exact youtube video, but search for rondo pc emulator or something like that, it has a link in the description to an exe which is basically rondo: the emulator

it has different graphics options and stuff from memory, definitely the best way to play rondo. All the music etc is perfect and it's about 64mb.

A little bit, but not by much. For how much people love to hype up the alternate paths, the hidden levels are awful. The boss fights are the only highlight besides the god-tier aesthetics. People love it because of said aesthetics, its connection to SoTN and the fact that it was a hidden gem for a long time.

This?

real talk? because since back in the day it was highly respected. that's why and that's all..people echo old opinions

Is there no way to skip the cutscenes in Rondo?

Worked on my machine

>emulates an emulator
>is surprised when t's buggy

I've been emulating Turbografx/PC Engine CD games this past week. So far I've played Valis I and IV and Cosmic Fantasy 2. I wish there were more RPGs translated from the PC Engine CD. There seem to be a lot that weren't released in the US. Fortunately Legend of Xanadu 1 and 2 are being fan translated right now. Hopefully those get done soon...
