Moving to 3D was a mistake.

Replace Diamond and Pearl with BW2 and yes.

Plat/HGSS/BW/2 were by far the best installments gameplay wise. Say what you will about everything else.

This was supposed to be about generation 4, otherwise yes, I would agree with you. B/W2 were the last good Pokemon games.

I hate that it's been downhill since. I will never enjoy another Pokemon game as much as HGSS and that just feels wrong because it's clearly flawed in many easily reparable ways but they can't fucking do it.

subjective - 2nd gen
objective - 5th gen

So, who do we blame, Sup Forums? Who needs to go?

WHY DOESN'T SATOSHI MAKE MORE GAMES

>Shigeki Morimoto
>Made the games with the BEST post-game content

Gen 5 is the best
prove me wrong

Dream team: Satoshi Tajiri and Shigeki Morimoto
Dumpster fire: Shigeru Ohmori

Emerald's post game is good, but HGSS's battle frontier is copied straight from platinum, its post game isn't anything special.

There's more to the HGSS post game than the battle frontier. Way more.

But platnium has a better post game then emerald, so HGSS's is better too

>D/P
>pinnacle
No way, no how. It was the most sluggish and blandest generation. Also I seriously can't understand why people suck Platinum's cock so hard, but I don't feel like arguing.

I'm not saying there isn't anything but there are games with more post game content like Platinum or B2W2.

ok, i gotta ask. my best friend is super into pokemon and shit and when i bring up that soulsilver and heartgold are Gen4, he gets upsets and corrects me, saying it's Gen5. so i gotta ask, is he right?

Not at all. Gen 4 remakes of Gen 2.

My nostalgia says Gold/Silver, while objectively, FireRed and SoulSilver would be the best games in the series.

hgss use the same engine as dppt, so gen 4.
gen 5 has animated sprites.

It's gen 4 because it goes up to and includes gen 4 pokemon you fucking tard

>SoulSilver
>No Mankey
In your fucking dreams

>B2W2 were fantastic
>Unno hasn't gotten another chance

>Now we get lazy sequels, littered with cutscenes again

How good are ruby, sapphire, x, y, omega ruby and alpha sapphire compared to red and blue?

then oras is gen 3 because it goes up to and includes gen 3 pokemon

>Masuda didn't lay his filthy hands on Platinum
Well that explains a lot. Kawachimaru is the unsung hero.

>Pushing the "BW2 are perfect" meme

In terms of post-game content, yes. Main game however pales in comparison to the previous entry.

Never said they were perfect. Black and White are also good and underrated. Don't know how Masuda shat out X/Y after that.

WHY WAS SINNOH OST SO FUCKING GOOD????

Because the series took a fucking HUGE step forward with its compositions, audio hardware, and ambition with Sinnoh.

It was one of the few times where we had an acoustic generational leap in the series.

holy shit you're right, I didn't remember it was this good

No it doesnt, it includes Pokemon and types up to gen 6, like Gallade and fairy.

What pokemon game should I play from this list if I ever played red blue yellow gold and silver?

Emerald, Platinum, Heart Gold or Soul Silver, B or W and B2 or W2. Don't bother with Gen 6 and up unless you really crave more Pokemon.

How good are X Y?

Not very. They're alright for a playthrough but they have zero endgame content and the main quest starts out great but ends up feeling massively rushed after the first couple of gyms. It's probably the best in the series in terms of diversity of Pokemon and it almost feels like a celebration of the games' past in some parts, but overall it is still very lackluster.
Might actually be an okay place to start if you haven't played Pokemon in a long time but it'll be hard to go back to older (better) games because there are several big QoL improvements.

alright thanks mate playing Hearth Gold right now btw probably gonna try out Emerald after that.

But truth to be told XY are flawled but they are thousands of times more enjoyable better than SM, even the megas gimmicky is better than Z-moves gimmicky.

>Diamond and Pearl

Never played Diamond, is that some sort of snowy area in OP's music link?

That's a huge exaggeration. They're both decent, just lacking in many areas. SM's cutscene problem has actually been plaguing the series since BW since Gamefreak decided shoving story down the player's throat is a good idea even if they are incompetent as writers. The real problem with SM is that the locations are rather limited in terms of scale and scope because the 3DS is awful hardware wise.

Personally I liked XY better too but calling them a thousand times more enjoyable is just blowing things out of proportion.

>shoving story down the player's throat
Back to Tetris, gramps

Compare Gen 1-4 to 5-7 in terms of the player's place and interaction with the story and you'll see what I mean.

Emerald

The thing that pushes me to live the most is that Masuda will die within my lifespan

isn't he doing USUM?

Yes sinnoh is based on hokkaido which is the cold part of japan.
It is very comfy.

Nice music, maybe I'll try DPP since it's pretty much the same system as HGSS.

Try Platinum, not DP. Seriously, huge difference.

Thanks pal.

For me both XY and SM suffer from having very good early game and then taking a nosedive on the mid-game, which makes the games feel like a very big disappointment and rushed. XY from after the first gym all the way up to just before the 3rd is just so spaced out and full of different things, it really made me think the game was a step up, but then it felt like they had to cram from the 3rd to the 8th gym all at once.

Similarly, the 2nd island of SM was still kind of light on the Lillie shit and the trials were nice and varied, and had some good challenge, so it was pretty enjoyable, while the 3rd island onward felt empty compared to the amount of different stuff crammed in the 2nd, and that's when the Lillie plot starts picking up speed.

I think after the 2nd gym on XY, Laverre City and the route leading up to it was the only part of the game I truly enjoyed. The music was too good.

Ruby and sapphire are obsolete, because of emerald and emerald is one of the better games in the franchise. It's post game is basically one big fuck you to people who complained that pokemon is too easy.

I completely agree with this and it's a shame because it really did have a great stretch of gameplay between the first and third gyms.

To be fair it doesn't really count when the game essentially allows NPCs to cheat like in some of the facilities
