Title is pretty much self-explanatory, however there are some prequisites: -lan gameplay on 2 PCs -not exactly gaming PCs -preferably not an mmo -not isometric view -cheap
Pic related is what I'd really like to play cooperatively with her: simple combat, 3rd person view, something that I can tank while she heals
>not isometric view this pretty much empties the list
everything that I can think of now is two worlds 2, but that isn't exactly great
Samuel Brown
What about with isometric?
Hudson Lopez
Secret of Mana für SNES or emulator best rpg ever acted out 6 times still love it
Grayson Bailey
then there are tons of games like that starting with really old stuff like secret of mana and then fairly old stuff like diablo 2, sacred 1 / 2, titan quest, dungeon siege and newer stuff like grim dawn
there is also gauntlet for pc, but you will need two gamepads
Brayden Rogers
Yeah I know, I don't think she'd adapt well to that, but most of what I saw were F2P MMOs
Maybe something like D&D shadow over mystaria would fit too, we loved that but it was too short to enjoy for long.
Is that coop multiayer??
Grayson Mitchell
Play EYE
You can stab while she shoots.
Cameron Butler
so basically with more story? most co op games focus gameplay so that makes it hard again
there are some fairly new indie games with low graphics requirements that have online co op but I don't even know their names
Thomas Perez
I just remembered, there is divinity original sin (1) for pc with lan co op, which has more story, but it's fairly new and not very cheap
Colton Jenkins
Not necessarily, I mean, if D&D:SoM had good story, we weren't paying too much attention...
I meant it for the 2D sidescrolling beat-em-up-ish side. I know there are a ton of roguelikes but that's too punishing for her I think
Joseph Robinson
They're looking for something simple, EYE will be a nightmare
Jaxon Russell
I see, I always thought D&D is not that easy. So a more casual game yes? I mean Sacred 1 is pretty damn easy to handle, but if I would think about my gf handling that - no way. Gauntlet can be like that too, but two gamepads one screen, as I said.
Actually, I really would like to know if there is a game like that too.
Samuel Bailey
Left 4 dead, Killing floor 1 - though those are fps. Army of two.. Maybe.
Henry Ward
have you considered games that aren't video?
Chase Torres
Well if we are talking fps, I would recommend Halo 1. The co op isn't exactly easy, but one player can easily make up for the other, so it would work great. And it's a console port, so you can take your time aiming and it has built in aiming assist.
Luis Reyes
I'll look into those, thanks! And this D&D is an old arcade game, not really deep in anything, but quite fun
>Actually, I really would like to know if there is a game like that too.
Exactly, I don't even know if what I'm looking for even exists. Most coop rpgs I can think of are mmo's, or wouldn't run on her PC. It has to be something a bit old, or newer with really simple graphics.
I'd ask for something splitscreen on PS3 or 4 but I've been travelling quite frequently, so it'd be nice to have something we could play while apart.
Isaiah Russell
My GF isn't good at gaming but she's really enjoyed Overcooked and believe it or not, Cuphead.
Julian Campbell
Actually I have
We played D&D for a short while, but I'm not really into being the DM, solo adventures are not so fun, and so on. I saw some tabletop games like Eldricht Horror but they cost as much as a just released console game around here, and I fear we can get bored after the learning curve
Hm I've never player halo 1, I'll look into that too!
Brody Martinez
>we could play while apart
oh then you dont need two gamepads if you have internet, I just thought it has to be lan too
then you might not even need any gamepad at all, since it should work with kb and mouse as well
Nathaniel Allen
1) Look into the website cooptimus 2) rockpapershotgun.com/2017/10/20/best-coop-games/ 3) If you want as said in a previous post simpler RPGs, you could see something like Trine, The Cave, Magicka, HellDivers.
Caleb Torres
D&D:SoM is an old arcade beat'em up from capcom. D&D is there only for thematic purposes.
Xavier James
learned something
Carson Bailey
OP should mention the kind of games he plays to see if there is a coop equivalent. I assure you it most likely exists, is not even a matter of what to play, just having someone to play with and time, I lack the first but as I still have hope I have looked up these games.
Carter Gray
>then you might not even need any gamepad at all, since it should work with kb and mouse as well
Yeah, ideally KB+M should be fine. That's why I mentioned skyrim as an example, I think that kind of view and controls would be the best. But since it seems it'll be hard to find such game I'm having second toughts and going with something isometric anyway
Brayden James
>We played D&D for a short while, but I'm not really into being the DM, solo adventures are not so fun, and so on I don't think you understand how this works. You're supposed to play with at least three players.
Samuel Rivera
I recently got the trine trilogy on PS4 for us, so I'd skip that just to avoid having the same game bought on multiple platforms. But that's the type of game I'm thinking about. I'll check your other tips too, thanks!
We've played together Trine, D&D:SoM, she played Skyrim too. She was enjoying Demons Souls but she got frustrated with it, even though she enjoyed. If we had two good PCs I'd go for Dark Souls 3, but hers is kinda weak to even consider DkS1
Liam Collins
I know, I've played it on and off for like 20 years (more off than on desu but I get what you mean). That's why I'm not even considering playing solo. The times we played there were two players and it was good enough
Sebastian Johnson
Magicka and Helldivers are by the same devs but Magicka LOCAL controls for second player are rather shitty, HD was made together with Sony and it controls without an hitch.
I would go as far as to suggest, if you have a good PC, to emulate games, older consoles had many more local multiplayer games than now. pastebin.com/wmV5xijY
Nathan White
Two Worlds is all I can think of
Easton Morgan
Halo 1 is fantastic. Halo 2 vista is also a thing and works on win10.
Ryder Mitchell
OpenMW + tes3mp
I've had a LAN server running for this with my university flatmates and I have to say CO-OP morrowind is fucking amazing.
Colton Cox
Stuff I played with my gf and enjoyed: Divinity OS 1 nd 2 Dying Light Terraria, seriously, get 2 terrarias for 10 bucks and prepare to have 300 hours of fun and comfyness Wow on a blizzlike private wotlk server, just leveling together and doing class quests and shit. Fun experience Orcs must die 2 Borderlands 1 or 2 Mario 3D world on Cemu co-op was one of the best vidya experiences I had MK8 too Dark Souls 1 is nice to play in (kinda) co-op Portal 2
Liam Lee
>Terraria fuck me I completely forgot about Terraria... that's right OP Terraria is exactly the kind of game you are looking for
Samuel Evans
Baldurs Gate dark alliance for PS2/Gamecube seemed like a neat RPG to play together.
Portal 2 is a great choice because 1) Relaxing, hardly a rush usually 2) Mods, extra coop maps 3) Splitscreen works on PC too if you look it up
Now I hope this was enough to satisfy you OP, I am not going to read an answer to this probably, is too depressing to read this thread.
Hudson Williams
Dont worry about things user
Justin Brown
1. Play Secret of Mana for SNES on emulator 2. Finish it 3. Don't ask more until you do
