Were there ANY games on this system worth playing?
Were there ANY games on this system worth playing?
Comix Zone
Alien Soldier
Gunstar Heroes
does anyone know if a model 2 AV cable would work on a model 1?
Rocket Knight Adventures
it's the actual game of inspiration for Freedom Planet
I thought that was Sonic?
...
Hey OP.. kys
Play the game. FP was made in the same engine Sonic Mania is from so idiots meme that bullshit. The gameplay mimics Rocket Knight.
Got a SegaCD? Snatcher. Sonic CD
Otherwise, you've got Gunstar Heroes, Streets of Rage 1-3, Sonic 1-3, Hard Corps, Golden Axe 1-2, Ristar, Thunderforce III
This
The perfect median between Classicvania and Metroidvania
i love the game but there's nothing metroidvania about it.
genesis castlevania is like one of the worst lmao
>item crash
>multiple characters
Legitimately one of my favorite games.
>Love the SEGA genesis as a kid
>Internet comes out & I get told I have shit taste because all my favorite games are "inferior arcade ports"
Sup Forums ruined the sega genesis for me. I use to love this thing.
Pretty much any fighting game, right?
I learned recently that the purely mechanical bosses are weak to the sword and lancer, while organic bossses are weak to the anything with flame like properties.
nba jam
streets of rage
batman
batman
chameleon kid
pga tour gold
stfu
ammo management is bullshit and UI is horrible
No, they won't.
>nba jam
My favorite game with a rapist on the roster. Playing as Bill Clinton was cool too.
This is way better than batman returns
My go-to layout for Superhard runs is Homing/Flame/Lancer/Lancer.
Ammo management shouldn't be a problem if you rotate weapons correctly.
Also gotta disagree on the UI comment, I mean the game lets you customize the goddamn HUD.
"This game is too fucking hard. Let me change the difficulty"
>Super Easy
or
>Super Hard
WHERE IS THE NORMAL MODE?!!!
If FP played like Sonic it wouldn't be terrible.
>I mean the game lets you customize the goddamn HUD
they were all bad. the graphical ones weren't good display of how much you actually had and numeric one was hard to see buried among 1000 other UIE.
t. an idiot
Sonic 1-3K
Vectorman 1 and 2
Ecco 1 & 2
Phantasy Star 2 and 4
Power Rangers Movie
Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park Rampage
Aladdin
Bonanza Bros
Toejam and earl 1&2
Soleil
Golden axe
Ristar
Dynamite heady
Wtf anons? No shining force or shining in the darkness? Beyond oasis? I am disappoint
>Sonic 2 and 3K
>Vectorman 1
>Phantasy Star 4
>Bonanza Bros
fixed
Since when Sup Forums know shit about arcade games and ports.
Also Burning Force is a pretty good conversion.
>Ristar
>Dynamite heady
fixed
Supereasy is basically the game's Normal mode. Superhard is more akin to an Arcade mode.
The main differences are
>Supereasy gives you infinite continues, Superhard gives you 3 continues
>Supereasy lets you change weapons on the continue screen, Superhard does not
>Supereasy lets you use passwords as a "stage select", Superhard forces you to claw your way up from stage 1
Also, the bosses MIGHT be less aggressive on Supereasy, but I'm not 100% sure on that one.
If you wanna get your mind blown check vectorman, ecco the dolphin and out of this world
also road rash is rad af
So they will?
I have both models of the Mega Drive, and they have different sockets for accepting AV cables.
A Model 1 has an RF out, and a special one for Composite/Scart and stuff. A Model 2 only has it's own special one for Composite/Scart.
Thunder Force 3
Gunstar Heroes Co-op
There have been multiple characters since 3 and Rondo had item crashes as well NIGGER FAGGOT KIKE ENABLING DUMB QUEER DICK FUCKING GAYLORD ASSHOLE KEK!
Definitely.
GENESIS DOES !
Shit taste.
I don't feel console RPGs stand the test of time. Beyond Oasis is all right even if the music is lame. Much rather play Ax battler spinoff personally.
How old are you, bud?
WHAT NINTENDON'T
i forgot this guy existed. i also forgot how bad his audio was.
Shining Force
Warsong
Adventures of Batman and Robin
SNK ones were altered 'to cater to wider audience', so to speak. Takara took a lot of liberties when it comes to porting. They're pretty interesting anyway. I unironically prefer the genesis one of FF2 over neo geo one because you can cancel anything into specials.
This sounds like a robot farting into a microphone.
m.youtube.com
This one is secretly the best platformer ever made.
>ctrl+f splatterhouse
>Phrase not found
shame. This was altered beast on crack.
All of them
Far from it, not even worst console Castlevania.
...
Splatterhouse 2 was fucking great, at least the style. Sure the gameplay was simple but it was satisfying smashing in enemy heads with just your fists, then you get the 2x4's.
fuck me sideways that game was hard
...
Yep.
IIRC, it was made before the team that made sonic 2.
General Chaos.
Rocket Knight Adventures is my favorite game from that generation. No other game has the polish that game has.
Shadowrun is an excellent RPG, Mega Turrican is the only one I can stomach and it is pretty damn good.
Shining Force 1 & 2
Phantasy Star 4
Soniczes
Maybe Contra Hard Corps?
...
This > Splatter House
This. Gunstar Heroes in particular is absolutely amazing.
I had this game a kid. Had no idea until a few years ago it was a stripped down fist of the nirth star game. Fun but hard.
Ranger X
Yeah, I guess they really didn't want to pay that license or something.
>mega turrican
This now plays in your head automatically
youtube.com
This console had the perfect balance between japanese and western games.
>MUSHA
>Subterranea
>Dynamite Headdy
>Kid Chameleon
>Langrisser 2
>Master of Monsters
Clockwork Knight (1 & 2)
Astal
Was this Arcade Perfect® or actually true to arcade?
Phantasy Star 2 & 4
Toejam & Earl with a friend
Shadowrun
Shining Force
Some of my best gaming memories are from games on this system desu
which one of the 26 UI combinations?
This game is kinda overrated like Alex Kidd.
Earthworm Jim
For a bunch of platformers, even shit like a Macdonalds game was fun because Treasure.
Then you have SoR2 that is just a classic. Or Revenge of Shinobi, the original version with Terminator+Hulk, Spiderman+Batman and Godzilla bosses
It is a mix of the 16bit platforming era with Rocket Knight/Sparkster+Sonic+ Treasure games(like Dynamite Headdy)+Ristar
Kinda annoying some "older" gamers don't realize that rocket system is what Rocket Knight Adventures did
The Revenge of Shinobi was crazy. Flicky was great too.
close enough
This game is hard as fuck
Arcade perfect with few changes.
This one was really impressive, since Sega handled the port instead of the developer (capcom), also was one of the first console games to use a 8mbit cart.
lots
That's what I figured. They got away with so many straight-up lies back then.
I've played every game mentioned in this thread except for
>Flicky
>Master of Monsters
>Rocket Knight
Which one should I play first?
Vector Man
Ignore any other suggestions in thread. Game of the console is
Mutant League Football
Rocket Knight
Uh you probably already realize this but OP is a genesis, good taste for Saturn games though
Have you played it's successor Mutant Football League?
Man this was like my one childhood game. I got Sonic 2 and Street Fighter Oneofthoseeditions eventually but this game... My God I miss just so, so much. My childhood. My family. Fuck.
>got a Megadrive bundled with Castlevania and Rocket Knight Adventures
It was like, best x-mas gift i could ever get.
That Castlevania had such a good soundtrack. Game is good, but not best Castlevania
Rocket Knight Adventures. There is a sequel called Sparkster but isn't as comfy and good as the original.
no, its not its successor, it is what is called a cash grab
don't fall for cash grab anons, you can't relive 1993 in 2017, nor should you try
What makes it bad?
genesis > super nintendo
ranger x, gunstar heroes, streets of rage 2, granada, shadow dancer, revenge of shinobi, shinobi 3, ristar, rocket knight adventures, sonic 3&K, devil crash MD (apparently the US release, dragon's fury has a bug where the ball will just zip into the drain for no reason), super fantasy zone
There's more, but it's like 12am right now.
honorable mentions include mystic defender, kawasaki superbike challenge, blades of vengeance, virtua racing (better on 32X),
FP is weird -- it's got Sonic-like gimmicks and graphics, but it plays a fuckton more like RKA.
gorgeous game, but holy fuck it drags on, and it's hard as balls
I remember the Samurai Shodown port on Genesis being surprisingly decent.
very good port, especially for when it was released
anyone saying it's arcade perfect is fucking with you, but it still holds up pretty well
what makes it worth mentioning?
mutant league football exists. don't need a 20-some odd years later cash grab.
new is not better user, a game made by a pro team as a high selling product is better than a shit indie cash grab
Splatterhouse was hella gay dude.
>speaks in norcal slang
>talks about homosexuality
Oh you'd be an expert, wouldn't you now?
Hard to find a co-op experience better than the first time going at Mr. Black's board game.
