Diversity

I have a gay friend who not bought Mass Effect Andromeda because of the gay portrait.
And I have a super casual ( and black) friend who not bought the Uncharted 4 expansion.

Both told me the same thing. That they picture of "they" are offensive.
I know this sound like a Sup Forums thread, and probably it is, but my point is, can all this pandering be wrong, in the sense that the people that are meant to be pandered are being cast away?

Cool story bro

Studios pander to a group of people who will never buy their game, so yeah
Gay characters in games these days are just virtue signaling from studios, not actually just being characters who happen to be gay

How is that dog floating?

Most people prefer to be treated equally, rather than being thrust into a spotlight as a token.

Diversity solves no problems, it only creates them.

People don't like checkboxes and prefer characters who feel genuine.
It's kind of like how Sam is the best south american character in years even though him being a pedro isn't part of his underlying character, smug cyborg samurai is.
If they just made a gay character without GAY BISEXUAL DOLPHIN being the underlying character with no actual reason for them to act like that people wouldn't care.

Dog magic.

The average black and gay person just wants well-developed characters like everyone else. Who knew.

>Diversity solves no problems
What about inbreeding

noclip

Adding diverse characters and making diversity a selling point isn't to get those same diverse people to buy your game, its to get liberals to buy it so they feel good about what they are playing.

That's only in extreme cases with very small populations.

Fucking cheating doggo

99% of the time I shouldn't know about a characters sexual preferences unless it's a fucking dating sim or their wife or husband is factored into the story.

please dont post cursed images

Nice dog.

These characters aren't designed to appeal to black or gay people. They're there for SJWs to circlejerk over how INCLUSIVE and PROGRESSIVE the developers are.

Why are you a homophobe?

>muh interracial breeding grounds
Go to bed Ahmed you're drunk

>not bought

Are you Russian or a dumb hillbilly?

This is curious to me.
Because all of their "agenda" sounds right, pandering is always a good thing I think.
But hearing they opinion about that subject blew my mind, ( we were talking about videogames in general) I never actually talked about this with them.

Huh, the gay friend told me exactly this, same words. Then again, he is not a total fag, he just like to suck dick, he walkes like a male (male).

You know what? You made me regret this thread, thinking like this makes sense, fuck.

Really good point, all of us like Sam, even the black friend who thinks he is cool.

Call me biased, but I didn't.

On a side note when I talked about the Mario "culture apropriation", my black friend shouted:
>YOU SEE, THAT'S WHY THIS IS A KID GAME, PEOPLE ARE ANGRY BECAUSE SOME RESOLUTION!
It was a fun moment.

For the first time I see this as truth.

How old are you?

Thanks, here is another one.

And this was the problem on the discussion. None of us knew someone like this!

DOGS CAN USE COMPUTERS?

As a homosexual male, EA and Mass Effect are garbage. Uncharted is unoriginal, cinematic tripe. I want GOOD representation and GOOD games, not ham-fisted, ultimately insulting and disrespectful grabs at my money.

I knew I fucked up in the english in more things than I can count, but it was that bad?
South American.

What characters would you consider good representation?

Really?

Is there a game with good representation?

Fix your English, jesus christ.

Fallout: New Vegas and Nier are literally the only games I can think of.

it's funny cause nation-states were supposed to have uniform culture within them to avoid conflicts and they threw it the fuck away

What about Ballad of Gay Tony? I just ask because Gay Tony ended up being one of my favorite characters Rockstar ever made.

>That they picture of "they" are offensive.
Your entire thread revolves around getting this one sentence right and you fucked it up. I have no idea what your friends said.

Eh. I view all GTA characters as satire and over the top, so I wouldn't really say any of them represent anything other then a stereotype.

My best friend is black and he is actively pushed away by what he considers "quota diversity" in media. It happens.

The entire thing is white guilt and only serves to fuel the egos of rich white liberals.

It's not for them, it's for the liberals that want the pandering.
