Can someone who likes DMC1 the most please explain to me why you think it's the best?
I can understand maybe if you just don't like action games at all you like it the most since it has cooler atmosphere and environments but DMC3 and 4 are such an insanely high step up mechanically and DMC3 overall is an extremely good game.

He soends so much time discussing every little topic in a game, but never in any depth. His videos, like all YouTubers who make videos over 15 minutes long, are shallow surface level looks at games that are only useful to those who don't actually play games.

This is a problem with many of these reviewers. By doing this they can cherrypicking every good or bad little thing they want and construct an argument with it. It might look like a good review in the end but they all completely miss the big picture of the games they play and the context of those little things in that big picture.

This is just off the top of my head, but this list just reminded how fucking amazing some of this shit was when I first played it.

you can make all encompassing lists if you're extremely experienced, but that requires you to have delved deeply into all sorts of genres both in play and thinking about them

DMC3/4 might have "better mechanics" but they're wasted in games with poor level and enemy design. DMC1's entire design philosophy of being aggressive and efficient is a lot better than the sequels' dumb reliance on combos.

What's the point, none of this is unexpected or exciting at all. Somebody put Mario Galaxy in their top 10? Stop the presses. Shadow of the Colossus? Real trail blazer here. Majora's Mask as favorite 3D Zelda? Totally not a widely held opinion. Baldur's Gate 2 (maybe planescape), the two most beloved CRPGs? Somebody stop this man.

I played Goldeneye 007 recently and while it wasn't bad, I was surprised it was fairly decent. It's not the fucking 15th greatest game of all time. I hate how Nintenbros overrated every game they get and call it the greatest X of all time. For fucks sake you guys are faggots. It's good but not that good. There were better games before it and there have been many better games since.

Start up animations were introduced by Crystal and the rest that you mentioned are things that barely affect the gameplay (except breeding, but that didn't reach its potential until the next two gens). I remember being impressed by day and night cycles as a kid but it wasn't anything revolutionary.

Just because it's different and you can't keep track of the mechanics doesn't mean it's bad, grandpa. Enemy design in 3 fits that game and has enough vvariety to keep things interesting and the level design is still pretty solid, give or take one or two gimmicky stages.

SoTC was good though.

Not exactly the best on the PS2 Library but was pretty mind blowing when you first played it. The land itself was quite vast even though all you needed to do was point your sword up to the sky to find your next target, the option of boosting your stamina was available if you explored a bit, it actually gave you the incentive to explore the land you were in.

This, darksouls so high and last of us even on the list makes it a shit list
