Why do we hate it again?
Why do we hate it again?
Muh old game that no one really cared about with the same name got cancelled
no one hates it, it was pretty well received here. it has a bad opening and a really shit ending, but some cool ideas. there's always going to be a certain amount of drive by shitposting w/r/t the cancelled prey game though.
3 reasons for me:
I wanted a Prey re-release for modern systems, it has Denuvo and it's published by Bethesda wich means no regional pricing.
In reality I don't hate the game but the shitty practices around it.
muh bethesda (even though they were just the publisher but I'm too dumb to notice that)
Its reskinned FO4
The opening was really good, though.

>dr. yu, i'm BLMY
bawww you mad fan boi.
kys, but take your parents out before you do it.
not even close.
Because it's the patrician game.
No, in reality, i don't know, but i think Arkane Studio is cursed since all of there game sell like shit. (except the first dishonored, cause people were thinking it was an open world game.)
it's a shame, they are an excellent game studio.
5 weapons, 15 enemies, side quests were meaningless, ending was lackluster, several glitches, ignored the prey franchise etc etc
It wasn't Prey 2.
i don't hate it. it's the best and closest thing we'll ever get to a modern system shock. the only unfortunate aspect is that they named it after an IP they clearly weren't working on.
>just
I'm not touching We Happy Few with a ten foot pole either. The fact that it has the name attached at all and they get even one penny from the game is enough of a reason not to touch it.
Well they aren't exactly niche either.
>dude it was all a dream!
they are "in-between", and it's the worse place to be.
Because most gamers pay lipservice to System Shock because it makes them feel intelligent but in truth they're only regurgitating what older hardcore gamers have said. A fraction of Nu-Gamers probably haven't even played System Shock 2 and even a smaller subset bothered to play System Shock 1.
Just gotta live with the fact that Immersive Sims are gonna go the way of the Film Noir genre and just be something old people care about.
>BUT MUH PREY 2 WITH IT'S ALIEN BOUNTY HUNTING
That game was going to be casual garbage.
They didn't call it System Shock 3.
agree to disagree, the game didn't really hit for me until ~3-4 hours in. The first hour felt like a total slog of the typical Arkane-find-the-vent-path level design.
It's a shame, the immersive-sim genra is my favorite, System Shock 2, Bioshock 2 and Dishonored are probably in my top 5 of favorite games.
But i guess it sell badly since it don't have any multiplayer, and solo game are slowly dying.
Won't even suprise me if soon, indie dev try to do some immersive sim since the genra is dying in the AAA industry, the new dishonored sell like total shit even if it's was an improvement after the second one.
I didn't like it very much at the beginning but ended up liking it a lot overall.

Yeah, I don't give a shit about the original Prey but the game wasn't even that stellar as a System Shock clone. SS2 is maybe my favorite game after Deus Ex and PREY did not measure up. Wasn't Bioshock-tier, but definitely wasn't up there with the greats. No weapon variety, RPG elements were pretty boring, enemy design was pretty shit and just revolved around stunlocking everything, level design went to shit from Crew Quarters onward, etc. I just wasn't having fun after a while.
