Mario and Link's story have been stale for the last 20 or so years. Up to now, they still haven't saved that damn kingdom and its princess. Character development is stagnant in those games. Yes they are fun to play but if Nintendo keeps churning out the same thing all the time, videogames will only be seen as nothing more than fun games to be recycled for fans and not as creation of art. There is no longer anything original with the Mario and Zelda franchise but always a reimagining of the same world that panders to its enormous and voracious fan base. (Which kind of gives the impression that Nintendo fans are probably a bunch of man-children, no offense to Nintendo fans. You do you)
Videogames today have evolved incredibly better than any other art form such as film, music, and literature, but it is not yet recognized as an art form. In 2008 it kicked the music industry's ass by surpassing its total revenue. Today the videogames industry is three times bigger than the music industry. And it's not stopping. Because of graphical improvements and musical scoring together with amazing stories, videogames can now evoke profound emotions that people would normally feel when consuming art like film, music, or literature.
It's time for a videogame that reflects the struggles of the human condition and triumphs in it, with a female protagonist, and badass gameplay and story. All that is Pokémon Ultra Moon, also did I mention it can be in beautiful 4k? (If you have a citra and monitor that can) it looks absolutely stunning even on 1080p.
Note, I haven't played USUM yet but I will, soon, when I borrow a friend's copy. I'm only a peasant gamer. The complete edition of Pokémon Ultra Moon is releasing around my birthday in November. Just leaving that info there.
I hope you guys would vote for Pokemon Ultra Moon as well so that videogames can keep evolving and providing new and better experiences for the gamers.

I dont care about your Ubisoft garbage

The gameplay is mediocre. I can't stand climbing with handholds, the melee combat feels so wrong, and the enemy encounters don't feel like they were designed in tandem with Alloy's abilities.

It's the least innovative or interesting game release this year.

The new Zelda is the only good take on open world I've seen in a while, it's a game purely about it's gameplay, I don't want anything else out of a game. The new Mario is a very competent 3D platformer with many original ideas, good 3D platformers are hard to find. For contenders we also have; >Persona 5 >NieR: Automata >PREY >Cuphead >Hollow Knight >Sonic Mania >Yakuza 0 >Gravity Rush 2 >Nioh All of which I found better than the OP pic. Also, why do you start talking about Pokemon Ultra Moon? We know it's just going to be the same as every other Pokemon game. They're just really basic JRPGs.

Outside of the loot system and the repeating of some levels, it was a damn fine action game.

HZD is just a generic open world game though

Combat sucks

I have to disagree with you on that one, once you get the moves and skills down for the weapon you're using, and learn to effectively switch stances in combat, it becomes really fucking fun.

Only good attempt at open world is Fallout 1. You need some kind of dynamism running independent of the player like timelimit or the game world is too stale. It is not a game if you can't lose.
I'm one of the few people here who actually likes Horizon but I can admit that the open world element gives very little to the game.

>You need some kind of dynamism running independent of the player like timelimit or the game world is too stale I agree that that's the ideal way to make an open world game,

My apologies, I wasn't finished with that post. It's too bad that not many open world games incorporate that idea. I would love some timed quests and events which trigger after a certain amount of in-game time has elapsed, in open world RPGs, some of these events either triggerable or avoidable.

whats up with you retards and this game

Horizon is empty repetitive open world trash with ubisoft towers

Sonybros can't accept that Zelda BTFO'd their open world garbage so they have to spam the same pasta over and over again to overcompensate for it.
