Was the W101 actually good? When kamiya and plat make W102 for the switch are you buying it? And is anyone interested in a Bayo 1+2 port to switch or would it be a waste of time since the WiiU and Switch have close graphical capability?

It was a flawed but unique game. I loved it but I'd rather see something new. Best ending ever though.

the core fighting mechanics were great but everything surrounding them was shit

>Blunderful 101 copies sold
>Good
You tell me.

It's probably my favorite Kamiya game, though it went overboard on some of the level gimmicks. Feels like a natural progression from all his previous games.

Also Kamiya doesn't make sequels because he feels obligated to constantly make new shit, in order to keep the industry creative.

once you've beaten it once and unlocked all the moves for all the morphs and understand what the fuck is going on and stop losing sight of your character every ten seconds it's very fun. rotating through all your forms in one super long air combo and then adding the guy you killed to your team is very satisfying.

Wonderful 101 is like the only reason to buy a Wii U besides Dong Freeze. I would buy a remake of 101 and 102 on Switch in a heartbeat.

Is it really that bad on PS3?

Nah, the story, characters, and music were all 100% on point, some of Platinum's best work hands down. The game oozes charm. The game has a shit ton of content/replay value to reward players that actually put in the time and effort to master it's unique controls.

It's only real flaws are some graphics that don't look flattering when zoomed in, and a couple of short gimmicky segments that were annoying.

there was a patch but it's still the worst way to play

terrible framerate and longer loading times, it's definitely the worst version

The problem is that Luka is like half the story and arguably the second most important character and he sucks so fucking hard.

is it ultimately just air combos: the game?

Number of sales doesn't equal quality, same goes for any entertainment medium. Bladerunner 2049 was an absolute blunder but to me was the best movie of 2017. Better than the first one imo

I wasn't able to get into it and stopped at the second level. Apparently I bought the wrong powerup and needed to get the jellyguard thing first, or the second level sucks.

If I go back to the game is there anything else like that? Do I need to buy every new power in the order they're presented or is this the only situation like that? Anything else that I should know about ahead of time before I try playing the game again?

Matthewmatosis's favorite game so you know its shit.

This, though some of those sections made better use of the tablet than Nintendo’s own games

>The game oozes charm.
fuck no

characters are obnoxious one note stereotypes, artstyle is ugly, the story is the usual who cares clusterfuck expected from kamiya

yes the core system is good but it requires to ignore tons of annoying interruptions like the ungodly gamepad sections or all the shit arcade minigames to be mastered, not to mention the cluttered ui and awful fixed camera so no one but the most autistic will bother

it honestly deserved to bomb

Oh

Sounds like an eceleb and I don't really give a shit about them or any reviewers opinion of even slightly obscure/difficult games. I trust /vg/ and Sup Forums (sometimes) more

Sup Forums lets MM do their thinking for them

there wasn't a real patch. It just allows you install it to reduce loading times, which end up still pretty long.
At least the PS3 version doesn't have insane slowdowns in Witch Time like the Wii U version does.

There is so much shit that you have to learn in order to actually start playing the game that the game never tells you. If you don't know how to lock-on or capture enemies, I highly suggest looking up a gameplay primer video or something.

You need to buy the guard and the dodge at a minimum.

I was really surprised by how good the story was, especially coming off of stuff like Bayonetta

Nah m8, you just have shit taste. The game was a self-aware saturday morning cartoon, and you could tell the developers have a lot of fun playing with those conventions/tropes.

This is how I feel about the game too. I don't get why Sup Forums hypes it up so much.

And I really, really hate the visual style of the game. I'm normally fine with cartoony games but this one hits a really weird place where the characters all look like little plastic toys. Maybe that's what they were going for but to me it's just an off putting, deformed look.

And obviously gameplay matters more than appearance, but if I hate looking at a game while I'm playing it then it's going to need to be really fucking fun to keep me playing. I only did the first few levels so admittedly I haven't seen a ton of the game. But while what I played wasn't terrible it really didn't seem like anything special.

>The game was a self-aware saturday morning cartoon
>i-it's shit on purpose!!
at least no one posted the classic it gets good after 25 hours yet

I twas my personal game of the year, and is my favorite game of PG.
It has a couple of minor design flaws but it's a lot of fun, and has one of the best final boss sequences I have seen.

>characters are obnoxious one note stereotypes
It's ALMOST LIKE THAT WAS THE POINT!

It's right in line with something like Viewtiful Joe. And you can't judge a stylish action game by it's opening when you don't have any tools. That's barely breaking the surface. The combat is amazing and unique.

Campy =/= shit.

That's like saying Cuphead has a shitty artstyle because it's outdated and lame. W101 is emulating a very specific style with it's presentation and does it well. It perfectly captures the spirit and tone of the kinds of shows it's trying to emulate, and the pure child-like joy it evokes.

Hell, it's one of the few games where the wonky English dub actually works in the games favor because of this. (This may not have been intentional though)

Dat final Boss fight

It's almost as if the game is over the top and campy for the sake of parody or something...

Really makes me think...

I've been playing though TMNT after the hype of the Injustice trailer.

It is pretty good, co oping it with my bro and have the final 3 missions left. It's like a better Anarchy Reigns. The no local co op is my only problem, as my third brother can't join in.

ironic shit is still shit you sperg

I was able to enjoy Bayonetta from the start. I shouldn't have to wait hours for a game to be fun. I'm all for upgrading a character and unlocking more depth later on, but the game needs to be fun while I'm doing all that, not just after.

And I liked VJ's style, but I feel like 101 takes it too far.

The difference is that Wonderful 101 has a complex and utterly unique control scheme with a very steep learning curve. Bayonetta just plays like a pretty standard action game. If it dumped everything on you all at once, there would be far to much to process. The game instead doles out tools one at a time to ease the player into it, and then really opens the fuck up for New Game +. It's the kind of game that needs to be mastered, and rewards players for putting in the effort with a shocking complex combo system.

Even when dolled out the way it was though, it was still considered too much at once for brainlets and normalfags to wrap their heads around.

>awful fixed camera
What is awful about the fixed camera? The biggest problem with most 3D beat em ups is the wonky camera, so just fixating it to free up the right analogue stick for inputs was a really good decision.

Best game of 2013 by a landslide, if we see a sequel I will buy it day 1, probably Kamiya's best game, but not his most important milestone
