Do card bonuses actually affect gameplay to the point where skill doesn't matter and I'll never be able to beat a shitter with his mom's credit card despite being good at shooters?

From what I've seen alot of origin players say? No not really, the bonuses are pretty minuscule for the most part. You might FEEL that the person who killed you who just so happened to have better won the fight because of cards but in reality its probably because they got the jump on you or are better skilled

I meant to say "who just so happened to have better cards"

they could just be placebo, no one will ever know

Not quite that much, but that doesn't mean its still not a disgustingly horrible practice.

has anyone done any real testing on them yet?

No, they're not a big deal.

yes, they give you more damage, defense, health regen, and all sorts of shit

If you play against an equally skilled player w/ better cards then statistically you will lose more often.

Some ship cards let you turn 25% faster and do 20% more damage.

You decide if that's a significant advantage or not

See for yourself.

>a game of at least ten people vs ten other people
>thinking a single shootout against one guy matters
You could spend a million dollars on the game and it won’t make you good if your team is shit.

theres a fucking boba fett card that makes you invincible while doing a certain attack in the air or some shit

>Goes from doing barely any damage to oneshotting everything
Jesus fucking christ.

About that

This fucko paid the big bucks to max out shit to see what it was like. He claims the infantry upgrades are largely marginal, but the ship combat ones are OP as fuck.

see

Yeah, there are straight up upgrade on the higher grade loot boxes.

This will explain all of it.

Where the fuck are the cosmetics in this game? From what I can tell the only thing offered is a handful of alternate costumes for the heros, and emotes. If EA is supposedly so obssessed with milking its playerbase why the utter lack of skins, and color customization? I remember the last battlefront having that out the ass.

this is the only instance where the pay to win shit is true. I have been playing heroes vs villains nonstop and if a boba fett player has maxed shit then it is pretty much a done deal. He is unkillable while dealing out so much damage it isn't even fun anymore. You gotta hope your team isn't dumb and uses blaster characters like Lando, Leia, and Han Solo. But most people choose lightsaber characters only and don't think of team comp even though you can switch character any time.

>beveling anything dice or ea says dice/ea at this moment.

It was mentioned in the ama and also leaks. They have a customization system in the works that wasn't finished before release. Apparently in the files there are also textures for all the popular clone legions like the 501st

A card that makes me mad is the deluxe edition epic card for heavy that gives you the 300 health shield.instead of 200. Every time i fight an heavy and lose I see the shitter has the 300 health shield

Yeah, it was mentioned that it's coming in an update and wasn't finished for release.

Because the lootbox system with the fucking useless emotes, that needed to be front and centre when the game launched. Everything else can just go in the bin.

>2006: "DLC isn't meant to nickel and dime you! They won't replace expansions!"
>2009: "this Day 1 DLC wasn't cut from the game"
>2010: "this on-Disc DLC wasn't cut from the game!"
>2010: "this pre-order bonus wasn't cut from the game!"
>2011: "This season pass isn't meant to nickle and dime you! It save you money on all the DLC!"
>2012: "these microtransactions are OPTIONAL, you can unlock everything in-game easily!"
>2013: "these microtransactions don't affect the actual gameplay!"
>2016: "these random lootboxes are fair, it's just cosmetics! All the maps are free too, it supports the game!"
>2017: "these random lootboxes are fair, you can unlock everything with enough time!"

more like
>2017: "you poorfags are just jealous that you can't afford any lootboxes"

Bottom line is. If you don't like the loot crates, don't buy them. The upgrades from loot crates are very minimal since you can't obtain the rarest and most powerful start cards from them. Thus, the game is pretty fair and balance.

The game is actually really fun. Pic relate, me when I'm owning the competition as Vader.

>If you don't like the loot crates, don't buy them.
No, what you meant to say was, if you don't like the loot crates, don't buy the game.

see Getting the highest tier cards is impossible without either grinding for hundreds of hours or buying lootboxes.

>Since you can't obtain the rarest and most powerful star cards from them.
A) Some of the pre-order bundles do give you the highest tier cards.
B) The only way to acquire the crafting parts to get those high tier cards is through the loot boxes.

change 2017 to "these random lootboxes barely even increase your damage! just git gud!"

>2018: so what if you have to buy seven copies on average of the game just to get enough pieces of the code to make a download key so you can start buying the content of the game from the lootbox store! all the monetary support surely improves the development of the game and ensures it's continued support in the future!

Wasn't there a card that literally made you invun though?

Kinda.

If you have the right cards on something like a Specialist (scout class) you can do silly shit like double your effective range and spawn camp people from certain vantage points. Supposedly EA queues people with similar amounts of quality cards.

>retard with no money sense pays to win
>"You guys are all dumb, I'm having a great time winning and beating everyone"

I've hated the hero matches since 2005 BF2. So as long as the heroes aren't OP in the regular modes I'll be fine.

>pay 60 (sixty) american dollas for game
>still has to pay more to be able to play the game

>p2w isn't real!
>err...p2w only affects this particular mode you don't have to worry!

An incredibly common tactic with these types of games is to match players with those who spend money / have much better gear in an attempt to incentivize them to make a purchase.

I don't know for certain if they did it here, but I've got a very strong feeling.

In the first actually the third BF game I almost exclusively played Hero vs. Villains.

Gunplay got a bit boring after a while, and I really liked the feel of lightsabers. It was pretty sweet to be able to take out dudes sniping at you. Plus, what most people didn't realize is that if they attack you with a lightsaber, you can block and parry their attacks. Frequently got the top score as Vader because of retarded Lukes... but I sucked complete shit as Boba Fett.

emphatically wrong. You just have to be of level to craft the Epic level star card, and have an existing tier 3, which you can get from regular boxes.

Star cards make a tremendous, monstrous difference for starfighters.
They also make a pretty big difference for ground vehicles though I don't know why anyone would invest in them, as the battle point cost for them is low enough that getting into one is pretty much just luck.
