I play Battlerite with my friends, and we're thinking of doing an 8-player Mario Kart 8 thing this weekend.

only before college, didnt see them much in college
but after college, they all only play PC games on steam and going over there is just so boring now because they don't have any games 2 people can play on the same screen, and they don't have any other hobbies and don't like to even leave their apartment for anything outside of work and groceries.
so in this case, childhood was with consoles that had single player games, college is the transition, and after college it goes downhill. I try to talk about other things or suggest other activities but they just say nah or that's boring and a waste of time.

i had "friends" but they were never that great. abandoned me when i needed help. took advantage of me. the social life i had was built around things that i didn't enjoy, only tolerated because other people liked them.

i can't say that i'm better or worse off without it all. i'm still miserable but i was miserable before as well.

I've recently started taking steps to increase my social life. Ive been going out with the wife, with friends, actually cooking food, working longer hours. It's hard fellas. It's like breaking an addiction. All I do is worry about how much time I'll have to play video games. I get anxious thinking about my friends online who are wondering why I'm not playing.

Is it really worth it?

Every month or two I send out an invite to a bunch of friends from high school and we play local multiplayer games on a pc hooked up to a large tv. Usually about 4-8 people show up, but sometimes more have come and gone throughout the day at different times. We usually just try a bunch of competitive multiplayer focused indie games and some end up being fun while some end up being trash and only last 5-30 minutes. Most of the games are 4 player so usually the loser swaps out at the end of each game, but sometimes the winner will if he feels hes stomping too hard and wants to give a balanced game to the rest of the lesser players. Usually just hanging out, talking, and ordering some food later on. Sometimes we'll play board games instead of videogames but it usually depends on the guests who are over because some are "2kewl" for "nerdshit" like that.

I think I had plenty of friends in my life, 90% of them are temporary, sooner or later drama will kick in, it's inevitable, some huge life philosophy will differ, be it politics or religion or how you feed your cat or they will try and fuck your girl or vice versa. Sooner or later, most friendships will turn sour. However few might stay by your side despite the eventual drama, so fuck the boxy boi.
