skyrim of course

Dragon Quest VIII. Also my favorite game overall. Yes, I'm replying seriously.

Can someone explain the joke? Why is this shit so popular?

It requires a High IQ to understand the epitome of perfection.

The "joke" is that some people think all open world games are the same, despite only having played the crappy ones like Skyrim. This ignorance created a meme that all open world games are shit, which other people use to mock the ignorant people.

to be fair, you have to have a very high iQ to understand open world games. The gameplay is extremely complex and without a solid grasp of the gameplay mechanics, most of the people will hate open world games.

fuck off jon

Burnout paradise

This is all fine and good except for ragging on that Chillhop channel.

That genre of music is pretty great.

>hating pop team epic
what a loser

Does Zelda Wind Waker count?

This image reminds me of that whole video game rap movement in the early-10s until Alex Trebek BTFO the whole thing.

>I've only been on Sup Forums for 2 years

unironically minecraft

Witcher 3 with dlcs. I would say gothic 2 but don't know if it counts as open world.

this

I agree, Skyrim is the best.

...

Totaly with you both guys

thanks Todd

Not Todd posted but in comparison to some Ubisoft games Skyrim isn't so bad. Skyrim doesn't have chores like Assassin's Creed or Farcry, like collecting shit or climbing towers. Sure there was the radiant quest system but it wasn't tied to anything, even achievements, so it didn't trigger my OCD. Farcry 4 was shit for chores though.

90's fags are the real unkept toxic cancer.

I mean yeah in comparison with gouging your eyes out with a potato peeler skyrim would be a pretty good game too

...

Gumball is unironically 100 times better than all that depression tier shit from the 90s

People actually hated Camp Lazlo? But Sup Forums never shuts the fuck up about how Rocko's Modern Life is a KINO cartoon.

Skyrim is basically total free roaming done in the worst way possible. While games like Assassins Creed are the extreme on the opposite end. Linear whole pretending to be "open world".

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Poptepipic. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of pop culture most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Pipimi's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Japanese animated cinema (anime for short), for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Poptepipic truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Popuko's existencial catchphrase "Your motherfucking life ends 30 minutes from now," which itself is a cryptic reference to Hideaki Anno's epic, Evangelion. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as bkub's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Poptepipic tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

>in comparison to some Ubisoft games Skyrim isn't so bad
skyrim isn't a bad game in general

>Love live is on there
>idolshitter is not

>Cartoon Networks dark age
That would be 1999-2017. Their downhill slide started when shit like Cow and Chicken were considered the height of comedy. And 'lol random' comedy and borderline disgusting art have been the standard since.

God I fucking hated Cow & Chicken.

youtube.com/watch?v=CqY1ncLdmEs

We are at Sup Forums stop talking shit about 90's

>1999
Nick started that shit with Ren and Stimpy. Cartoons being disgusting has been a thing since 1991.

>Expecting more than 'lol random' comedy from cartoons pandered towards children
>"borderline disgusting art" isn't fine, but i'll use Cow and Chicken as an example of when cartoons were good on the channel

I'm not talking shit about the 90s. The 90s still had the best cartoons ever, like Batman and Darkwing Duck. Cartoon Network is not making shows on that level.

Yes they did start it. But Nickelodeon didn't make it a standard like Hanna Barbera did for a decade. And Cartoon Network still is now.

Nick went down their own path of disgusting called iCarly. And influenced the worst shows in TV history which the Disney Channel has now made standard.

>Expecting more than 'lol random' comedy from cartoons pandered towards children
Yes, I do. That's why I watch anime.

>i um nut tulkin bout 90's
>talkin bout 90'S

Gumball seems to be kind of burnt out though. Season 5-6 hasn't been especially good

Anime unironically has more out of nowhere random moments than cartoons. Especially 90s anime.

This. I would say GTA is a close second but then I'm reminded of online and I head back to Fable.

The show burned out on season 2. I really loved season 1, but everything after that turned into "dur hur Gumball did something jerky and rude and everyone else puts him in his place, ISN'T IT FUNNY!" This formula got really old. Whereas season 1 had pretty much every character getting equal time and development.

Anyone notice how 90s fags always follow that exact obsessive behavior? It's more annoying than any "ironic weeb" ever.
How the fuck could ANYONE think depression shit like "AAAHHH The Real Monsters" and "Cow and Chicken" be any better than "moe" or "calarts" animation?

>Chowder
>Flapjack
>Camp Lazlo
>Bad

>all anime is the same
Something like CCS is not focused on random stuff at all. While episodes of Teen Titans Go, the entire episode builds up to a nonsensical hard cut ending.

Good thing multiple people in this thread actually pointed out Cow and Chicken are shit. And referred to other 90s cartoons as being better.

STALKER even if it isn't exactly open world.

season 2 had the best writing out of all of them though. S1 was just kind of bland mostly and had gumball just acting completely naive

Darkwing Duck and Goof Troop were my most favorite shows, and even looking back they're still funny, intriguing and just generally good shows. Goof Troop wasn't as good as Darwking Duck but got an amazing movie in turn.

I'm pretty much the opposite on this matter. Season 1 was boring to me. It was mainly full of cliche moments where the main character gets into some time of trouble/ordeal where half of the time it was out of his control. It was like watch My Gym Partner is a monkey all over again.

The later seasons was a marginal improvement since it focused on more things than just Gumball's fuckery. My only actual complaint is how Darwin is becoming more of a smug fucker by the season.

Stupid sexy Kero.

>check out everything you see at first
>realize 90% of the shit is all the same
>go online to look up the 10% unique shit so you can skip everything else
>finally get to the main town after like 15 hours
>start doing quests like a laundry list
>finally start on the main quest you were supposed to have started like 30 hours ago
>don't even want to play anymore
>have to force myself to finish the story
does anyone else play open world games like this? I can't wait for this shit meme to die.

Shit, now I have to stop liking those animes so I can be one of the cool kids

I just felt like the first season had more even development for everyone in the cast. Each of the main characters got 1-2 episodes focused on them. Season 2 started to focus a lot more on Gumball and Darwin on repetative adventures of misguided mischief. Then a bunch of really random episodes about background characters (which ended up being the best episodes in season 2).

Season 2 is still good, but set the formula each following season had. 3/4 the season just focuses on Gumball doing something selfish, Darwin questions it and says some sarcastic fourth wall lines about why its bad but ultimately goes along with it, then everything blows up in Gumballs face (yet he never learns his lesson). It's like your typical Homer Simpson episode post season 12 of The Simpsons. Then every once in a while they throw in an Anais or Penny episode....and I really fucking hate how they ruined Anais (who was my favorite character). Again, not unlike how they ruined Lisa in later episodes of The Simpsons.

Camp Lazlo was worth it for the series finale alone. When it turns out Scoutmaster Lumpus was a criminal that stowed away the real scoutmaster and is actually just insane.

>Chillhop

Fuck, I just like to listen to jazz while I play musicless video games.

Hey guys, whats goin on in this thread?

Not much mr talking banana.

Runescape is the only game that does open world right

...

>whats going on in this thread
Just killed it with truth

right here: Sorry I didn't see your post

Honestly I just liked Gumball for the aesthetics. Without that, it would just feel like every other cartoon wrapped around meta humor.

It's the same for old Simpsons. A lot of the jokes it had aged like milk, but I enjoy watching it because there's a whole 90s vibe within it that you don't see anymore in this rapidly evolving society.

Idort exclusively refers to consoles though

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

these idiots think skyrim is a bad game

I'm not saying they're bad, but a lot of the punchlines either seemed flat or overdone. Not saying it's bad or anything, but it helped me realized a shitload of cartoons borrowed it's comedic style.

I actually enjoyed Skyrim until I realized the Dark Brotherhood daily work just spawned in some random NPC that doesn't even have a walking script.

>mfw I just decided to kill the leader of the dark brotherhood
It was cool that they gave you that option. But at the same time, it was part of the overall problem in Skyrim. Total freedom is not always good game design. The best free roaming gaes actually have a lot of structure and linearity to them.

>Cow and Chicken is shit

you have to be fucking with me nigga
youtu.be/wzYubi_NU34

Watching a cow rubbing its butt against a person for 5 minutes is about the lowest form of comedy I can think of. And I've seen Bill Cosby live.

this looks like a tv thread not a vidya thread...

90s fags become ironic weebs.

Yes, but in relation to Gumball..a show that repeats the same few plots and jokes over and over...

Returning OP here. Admittedly I was just trying to start an ironic Pop Team Epic thread since the first anime episode is out. I didn't expect this to turn into a Sup Forums thread.
