Valve

What are Valve software even doing these days?

How many years has it been since they released an actual game?

>source 2

Portal 2 was seven years ago
CS:GO was six years ago
Dota 2 was five years ago

>an actual game
What is this meme?
They maintain two of the most popular games atm, there's no need to release new ones when you can update existing ones

Who cares, they’re a shitty developer and even their “magnum opus” HL2 is mediocre on a good day.

> there's no need to release new ones when you can update existing ones

Fuck that. That's called milking it. When did this become okay?

aren't they making a card game?

>That's called milking it.
The opposite, you colossal retard. Constantly releasing sequels is called milking

I don't care about what they need retard, I care about new games

>company is bad because they don't pander to me!
maybe one day you'll realize the world doesn't revolve around you

>constantly

And I'm the retard. I fucking hate weekends when the school kids come here. Get a dictionary, mongoloid.

yes, you're the retard

So, going by your logic, game releases should stop completely because we can just update old games forever? Great logic right there, little buddy. :)

Retard.

No. I'm saying it's inherently flawed to ask questions like ''how many years has it been since they released an actual game'' when games can be given patches and updates
By your logic EA is the best company ever because they release shit like FIFA and Madden every year

They found a way to make tons of money without having to risk anything in making games

Hi guys my names user, and this is autism

I'd actually love that. Just make updates big enough and not just release yet another cosmetics once a month.

they're a distributor, they dont make games anymore. put it this way: would you rather be the slave labor in the middle of nowhere jungle making the cocaine or be the cartel leader who sells the cocaine and makes all the money?

Patches and updates aren't NEW GAMES. People who actually play games and don't just shitpost on Sup Forums like NEW GAMES. Nobody here supports yearly rehashes over and over, but a company that calls themselves a game developer/publisher should release new games once in a while, wouldn't you agree? It's been years and years since Valve released a game. If milking their existing series wasn't making them as much money as it's making, they might be forced to, god forbid, make a new game.

The issue isn't Valve, any company will always do what's most profitable. The issue is "gamers" who are perfectly happy paying up for some faggot skins/hats/whatever, never giving Valve a reason to actually work on something new. If you don't see the problem with this stagnation, then you're a part of it. A similar thing is happening with GTA Online. Why ever make a new GTA game if we can keep milking these suckers for money?

Working on 3 new VR games.
Dota 2 trading card game that will be released sometime this year (in Valve Time™)

what a horrible analogy. the cartel owns the slave labor

Name some updates that can equate to valve not sat with their thumbs up their arses, all they have been doing is making squeals and hats/skins

>People who actually play games and don't just shitpost on Sup Forums like NEW GAMES
Why do you think this? People who actually play games clearly like to play these OLD GAMES

i hope they release a f2p battle royale style game, in the source 2 engine :)

What's the point of naming anything when you'd just say it doesn't count?

They should buy vrchat and integrate their inventory system with it.

Screencap this I have a feeling.

Saying they maintain Dota is being very generous. There are all kinds of bugs that they just never bother to fix.

They put out a bunch of stuff for SteamVR which you could imagine they were kicking around for a while
There was that space game that got shitcanned

it doesnt fucking matter what you want, they make enough money maintaining games to not have to make new ones

Valve was never a game company.
Half Life is a student project they bought and all their other games started out as community mods.

What, dota and tf2?
Tf2 barely has what can be called a "team" working on it.
They're a fucking bilionaire company, they can afford to produce something other than a few tech demos in 5 years.

Their last good game was L4D, it was refreshing not a sequal and explored new ideas, after that all we've seen is portal 2 and that was only made to cash in on the fanbase, they even implemented hats into that trying to capitalize on their hat success with TF2, which goes to show what direction they were going down in the first place.

People might not buy hats but the way they've made their money is through keys, and crates. I had a friend actively just trade on TF2 and make real life money selling hats through trading, thats a game?

Did you even read my post? I realize what's making them money, you retard. I'm just disgruntled that the modern gamer is perfectly happy eating up this bullshit and even defending it. This system wouldn't be sustainable if gamers weren't such gullible retards by and large.

>Tf2 barely has what can be called a "team" working on it.

Same for Dota. There's like two or three guys working on it, at absolutely maximum.

The only game Valve thought of themselves was Half-Life. People don't make mods anymore so Valve can't take over their IP by hiring them, they make games on Unity and sell them themselves. Valve still gets a cut though, they are the ultimate masterminds.

>save PC gaming from microsoft's GFWL bungling
>persuade many big publishers to launch games on PC instead of just consoles
>build and regularly update two of the most popular games on steam
>run the biggest e-sports tournament in the world every year
>create open publishing platform to democratize game development
>invent VR
>make more money per employee than apple
but why are they so lazy??

pubg is basically an arma mod

Hl dod and cs 1.6 were better

>Devs don't update a game after release
>>They have abandoned the game!
>Devs update game after release
>>Fuck that, they're milking the game!

counter straiku globalu offensive

yeah unsurprisingly it's based on the mod when it's the same guy who created both

>invent VR

i unironically want them to make an hero shooter like an OW but in the artstyle of TF2

roadtovr.com/alan-yates-rift-is-direct-copy-of-valves-vr-research/

I was refering to virtualboy thingy.

So you want TF2?

>How many years has it been since they released an actual game?
When was Half-Life released? Every other game series they "produced" were just developers and ideas they observed.

It fucking sucks because valve are actually my favourite devs, I know that’s pretty unpopular here but I think they always released really unique games that are actually fun to play. Seeing them just dry up like this is painful, especially watching tf2 Just slip more and more away from what made it so fun to play in the first place.

TF2 doesn't have ultimate or ability and.. still... i want to see more of the TF2 artstyle so making an hero shooter allows them to make more humans (and maybe monsters and shit) in the TF2 artstyle, like female and.. other things..

They could even try and make it limitless like TF2 with lots of characters to choose from: unlike OW it's not only 6v6 but 12v12 or 18v18 depends on the servers
and they can do it they made dota 2 and successfully monetized it with 114 characters
i just want to see more of the TF2 artstyle in a sweet source 2 engine, and character other than our favorite cast.

>What are Valve software even doing these days?
Adjusting prices for sales

>Half Life is a student project they bought
no it isn't

>Create the biggest gaming platform available, also made immune against DDoS
>Release several of the gaming industry's biggest classics like Half Life and Portal
>Release several of the gaming industry's most popular games like TF2, CS:GO and Dota 2
>Develop a VR product of their own
>Develop a console of their own
>Completely unsinkable gaming industry giants, going even stronger than EA, Activision and Ubisoft

>mfw that fucking Dota 2 card game announcement

Why?
Even Blizzard are doing it

You are one twisted motherfucker user

Valve updates steam client all the time. Due to security reasons I believe.

microtransactions rendered sequels obsolete

Many see it as being an extremely cheap move by jumping on the card games bandwagon after the success of Hearthstone

>also made immune against DDoS
elaborate
