It takes itself too much seriously.
This and the world is empty. There is no variety in the world map, dungeons are good, but the wolf part killing all those bugs also sucked ass.
The whole yellow style pigment to the game didn't help it either, which is why I enjoy the cell shading of the other games.
TWP had some good things going for it but in the end I feel its one of the weakest of the zelda franchise.
This is a great way of putting it.
Also contrary to what said I liked its general art style, but that was the best part of the game for me. It didn't do anything offensively bad, it was just very forgettable.
I thought it was pretty good
Because Nintendo gave fans the OoT retread they'd been begging for and, surprise, surprise, the Nintenbro fanboys don't know what the fuck they're talking about.
This is why you play TP
But OoT is way better than TP
This is true.
It's like people asked for a non-linear Zelda game after SS but once BotW hit you have seen fans crying how open world is a meme and it was a bad decision.
The game completely falls flat after Snowpeak. There's nothing fun about going through the lost woods yet again, escorting a statue down a hallway of a dungeon, and doing some whole quest about a one note character from the village just to get your piece of shit rod fixed.
Because it was made to please americans, not with a real creative drive behind it.
>people
more like skyrimbabbies
TP is not an OoT retread. OoT is better in every way.
It insists upon itself.
Let's say TP tried to be OoT but failed miserably.
TP overworld is better
the dungeons are better
the items are better
the combat is better
>BUT IT'S NOT THE NOSTALGIA GAME I PLAYED WHEN I WAS 10 WAAAAAAAH
Fuck off.
I want her to hide in my shadow and come out to bully me when noone's watching
BotW's plot is a hundred times worse than TP's. Not even exaggerating, BotW's story fails on a fundamental level.
>inb4 story doesn't matter!
Then why did they waste so much time and money making those cinematic voice-acted cutscenes? Why did they have that intro that pretended that something interesting would happen? Nintendo just can't write a cinematic story, there's a reason all their best works have relatively humble production values, they do more with less and less with more. Other M was not a fluke solely caused by Sakurai, Nintendo thought it was acceptable storytelling. The story of the next 3D Zelda game will be just as bad if not worse.
A game is more than the sum of its parts you disgusting pleb. Also, the dungeons in OoT shit all over the overrated garbage dungeons in TP.
>Sakurai
meant Sakamoto
>There is no variety in the world map
There's a village, forests, fields, a huge ass lake, rivers, a volcano, a desert, a snow mountain and a castle
What the fuck did Wind Waker have?
Sea and empty islands, woop de fucking loo
>A game is more than the things that make the game!
Fuck off. TP is better in every way including atmosphere. OoT is a great game and it aged well, but TP does what it does better.
A lot of padding like the wolf sections and the fucking overly long tutorial
And shitty attempts to be dark and edgy especially the cutscene about the Fused Shadow and Twili
That’d be true if TP didn’t suck ass, which it does
None of these are a bother or tedious.
It's not. Do you really need a daily thread for this?
>segmented overworld
>good
Probably the reason why the overworld in TP is so the worst. It pales in comparison to the simplicity of the overworld in OoT because it has fucking loading times.
it tried to emulate the atmosphere of OoT and while also being darker and edgier since people complained about how kiddy windwaker was
the pacing is fucking garbage and the game just stops once you are forced to do that wolf shit
But it is great? What the fuck is wrong with you?
>deluded twilight princess cucks actually believe their garbage game is any good compared to ocarina of time
twilight princess will always be shit. it's a beta faggot game that tried to imitate its alpha brother but it never came even close to that.
Because ur mum shit a huge fuckig turd when you were kid
Yeah I love softlocking in Water Temple if I don’t autistically remember what key goes where. A sign of impeccable QA and level design.
>Twilight
>Not even exaggerating, BotW's story fails on a fundamental level.
You could at least explain how and why and not only making bold statements without any explanation.
Inb4 "if you don't see it by yourself you are retarded" and escape from the thread.
Thats sound adorable as fuck user
Dunno man, TP is my favorite Zelda. I agree the whole bug killing wolf section is pretty bad and the Wii controls were absolute garbage, but that's not enough to say the game is terrible. The dungeons, atmosphere, soundtrack and characters were top notch.
What the fuck are you smoking? The dungeons in OoT are way better and more iconic than any of the shit you have in TP. Arbiter's Ground is a fucking rip off of the Forest Temple in OoT. EH REH shits all over your rip ff dungeon.
A huge fucking turd in his mouth
but you can't get permanently stuck in the Water Temple for using keys out of order
You just aren't performing the standard Zelda checklist
TP is a much better game than wind waker, there's absolutely no doubt, but WW had more personality and original ideas and was therefore more memorable.
No wonder a brainlet like you enjoys garbage like Twilight Princess when you bitch about something that requires a little bit of spatial reasoning.
>all these people complaining about TP's overworld
at least its hyrule felt like a field, instead of OoT's giant fucking nothing between castle town and everywhere. You have bridges and bulbin riders wandering around, random hillsides, and bridges sprinkled around. Plus at lake hylia, you can actually SWIM AROUND, unlike in every game before it
TP is worse though. The early trailers looked really promising but then they introduced all the twilight bullshit. Plus the soundtrack is mostly forgettable noise and locales don't have any sort of charm to them. It's an alright game but it's not great. It's like if EA made a zelda game. In theory it has all the features you'd expect of a Zelda game but it's missing something. This is true for pretty much all Zelda games since OoT. OoT was much more focused, the story was clear, and the soundtrack for each location was great. For example in TP there is nothing that even comes close to OoTs Forest Temple or Kakariko Village. Pretty much every locale in OoT was memorable and distinct
If TP was actually a retread of OoT then that would have been fine. But it wasn't. It was a mess
good thing I said bridges twice
you have gates and tunnels*
this. twilight princess feels forced and it's totally inoffensive which is the worst you can say about any game out there
People need to stop fucking saying TP is more related to OoT than WW. You'd have to be a fucking dense motherfucker who can't look past the graphics to think that. In any case, both WW and TP disgrace OoT.
Childhood is idolizing OOT and Majora's Mask, adulthood is realizing TP is the best 3D Zelda.
There’s one door that has a lock that leads down the line to another locked door
There’s a locked door that has two keys in it before vomiting you out back into the central room
Better not save that game user, should’ve bought the official Nintendo™ Power™ Strategy Guide™ for only $19.95 plus shipping and handling!
>can’t handle criticism about his favorite piece of shit game
In retrospect, he went easy on the game.
Not him but I also thought BOTW had a pretty shit story. I mean the master sword was an optional side thing. I kept expecting to be guided toward it, all the way up to accidentally triggering the Ganon fight without it and having to reset the game.
Plus there are no dungeons, no real story beyond the flashbacks which are pretty lame. The game fell really short in storytelling unlike OoT which is a masterpiece.
Ocarina of Time did more with its overworld going by the N64 tech it was using. Shadow of the Colossus also had a superior overworld than Twilight Princess and that game was on the weaker PS2. there was no excuse for the TP overworld being so shitty and downgraded after the e3 2004 trailer
>I-it’s simple! Honest!
And infancy is liking WW
Bro I've played through OoT countless times, I have been in the same situation as you. However there is always at least one key available for locked doors, just google a Water Temple map or something you inept retard
>SotC had a superior overworld
fucking what
>Shadow of the Colossus also had a superior overworld than Twilight Princess and that game was on the weaker PS2
*fps drops to 13 even though there isn't a single NPC or piece of foilage in the entire map*
the only autistic and deluded in this thread are you fag. twilight princess is a shitty game and anyone with actual taste will tell you OoT is better
It's the other way around because only children who grew up with TP as their first Zelda game believe it's any good
Its because BOTW only had 4 dungeons and the dungeons themselves were short and the puzzles easy. There was no real theme to them either. ALBW does the open world Zelda better, but people didn't like item renting which is how you pull it off.
Except that TP was a retread of OoT.
and still better than the bland and ugly garbage we got in twilight princess
It came out the same year as Okami and was inferior in every regard
>tfw Aonuma promised before release that the world in Twilight Princess would be such a spooky place that Link would need to carry his lamp around everywhere
What the fuck happened?
My first Zelda game was ALTTP lmao. Still my favorite overall but hating TP is a meme perpetrated by posers who hate every single Zelda game before and after N64. Get over yourself
I was talking about enemies but wind waker has those too. just like TP those are specific levels
Something like a smaller version of the overworld in SoTC could probably run at a stable framerate on the GC.
Looking at that image takes me back. TP was the most excited I had been for a game until that point, it was like Zelda mixed with LoTR which was the coolest shit imaginable for an 11 year old. The delays were painful but seeing new screenshots in magazines was always exciting. I miss when Zelda made me feel like that.
>>tfw Aonuma promised before release that the world in Twilight Princess would be such a spooky place that Link would need to carry his lamp around everywhere
>Implying that's a good thing
What the fuck is wrong with you?
Nice falseflagging, kid. You're barely legal.
This final boss battle makes the entirety of BotW feel lackluster
>le TP is bad meme.
When will reddit leave?
>Falseflagging
Don't use words you don't know the meaning of. What do you want? A timestamp of my old SNES with ALTTP cart? I can oblige if so
Well the spookyness would have made the game more exciting, and the twilight thing actually seem threatening.
That's nostalgia goggles, son. OoT has no charm except maybe the music. Kakariko really threw me off when I played because nobody moves. They just stand in place.
I'm not defending TP over it, I hate TP. But OoT isn't magical unless you played it young. Funny thing is BotW doesn't really do much better. It's still 85% people standing in place or walking short paths.
>Still my favorite overall but hating TP is a meme perpetrated by posers who hate every single Zelda game before and after N64.
I like WW and BOTW and SS is decent. The oracle games are also fantastic. TP is just bland.
Holy shit I’ve stayed here too long
And OoT's final boss battle makes the entirety of TP feel lackluster
Posting your father's SNES won't change the fact that you're an autistic kid throwing a tantrum on a chinese message board. Eat shit kid.
>doesnt have fishing rod equipped
YOURE PLAYING THE GAME WRONG
>ganondorf out of nowhere
it's contrived garbage
>Damage control because not everyone is a bandwagon faggot who hates Zelda outside of the N64 games
Bet you have a tattoo of the Spiritual Stones too queer
>out of nowhere
You literally find out he broke out of prison halfway through the game
Yes and then you played it and half of the stuff in the early trailers didn't even make it into the final game. TP will always be garbage.
Not him, but it's not exactly a controversial opinion that the GCN/Wii Zelda games are the worst of the mainline series.
Every single Zelda in the mainline series is better than them. That's LoZ, AoL, LttP OoT, MM and BotW. Easily.
more interesting versions of those same environments.
>a calm and comfy seaside village of bumpkins with memorable characters
>a bustling port town that is the center of trade in this flooded world
>a frightening fortress home to a giant bird, a scary demon king, and a band of roving pirates infamous for their deeds. Security is tight, search lights are everywhere.
>A volcano island filled with bird people, new and fresh to the series at this time still. Memorable characters that you care about.
>twin islands that are giant trees, with a tree within the tree. Koroks were new and fresh, Deku Tree had a solid connection to previous games which made the game feel grounded.
>snowy blizzard island
>Ghost ship
>A mansion you can own
>tornado frogs
>giant futuristic tower of the gods made with shiekah technology, designed to test the strength of the hero.
>Underwater Castle, frozen in time.
It isn't about having a village, a forest, a volcano, a castle, ect.
It is about having interesting versions of those locations.
TP's version of these locations were boring and bland. It lacked memorable characters, it lacked new and interesting things- the most interesting things in TP were the twilight stuff, which was handled horribly, and the political more serious stuff, which was hardly explored.
All that was left was empty shells of typical locations.
I don't need to damage control anything kid. Oot is revered as one of the greatest games ever even on this contrarian shithole of a board. TP didn't even fucking make Sup Forums's top 100 best games list a couple of years ago. that's how garbage tp is
Yeah, I knew right away TP wasn’t the same game I daydreamed about. The only area that really stood out to me in hindsight was the yeti mansion, I spent a lot of time snowboarding down that mountain, and the ball and chain was pretty cool.
There's nothing damning about TP though, it's a totally fine Zelda game even if you don't think it's the best 3D entry. People complain about the wolf sections even though they only happen like three times for 5 minutes, people complain about it being too derivative of OOT and having a forced melancholic atmosphere but forget that at the time that is everything that fans were roaring for in the wake of WW. I personally like TP's ambience, soundtrack, dungeons, characters, minigames, etc. It did what it wanted to well enough and I think most of the complaints about it are overblown, that's all
>Arguing from a stance of popularity
Typical of a bandwagoner
> Play Volleyball with Gannondorf
> Pin the tail on the Pig
> Play Volleyball with Zelda
> Matador with Ganon
> Horseback battle with Gannondorf
> Sword Fight Gannondorf 1v1
>all these people who would have been disappointed with the final product
youtube.com
Good night sweet prince ;_; RIP
it baffles me that Ocarina is still the best 3D Zelda, not because I dislike it or anything but I'm seriously astounded Nintendo hasn't improved upon every aspect of it by now
Miyamoto, Tezuka, and Koizumi really are the backbone of this series
lol says who?
Yeah nothing like playing volleyball and then walking downstairs and then walking around the slowest boss in the game and hitting his tail which he never had before and never had again.
The moment this thing appeared on my screen, I dropped the game and never picked it back up. Absolutely nothing of value was lost.
>Miyamoto
You answered your own question. The reason Nintendo doesn’t innovate is because Miyamoto is at the helm.
>forget that at the time that is everything that fans were roaring for in the wake of WW
It's simple. People wanted that and the TP didn't deliver the initial promise.
You got triggered so hard by a weird chicken man that you stopped playing a game?
Anime designs with realistic texturing. Looks like cartoon characters buffalo bill'd some people.
lmao the trailer looks boss as fuck while the final product is tamed down shitty and lame
Then why did people like it so much when it came out?
