I actually unironically enjoy the Steam Controller.
Keyboard and mouse like a real G.
I saw wired Xbone controllers go for as low as $20 back around christmas. If they're still that low now I'd definitely recommend one of those.
definitely get the steam controller
Honestly when does asking anonymously on the internet and waiting for hours to get responses and then judging the consensus become more work than just paying the 35 bucks and seeing for yourself. Just return it if you dont like it. Shave your balls and get a tattoo while your at it and generally stop being so timid in life
Also there are countless websites including steam itself that have aggregate scores from 1000s of buyers that can give you a good idea of what the product is
i am really happy with my steamcontroller. remember you can set it up for each game individually
This beauty right here is perfect for all your PC gaming needs that don't need analog triggers.
Xbone S.
I mean, what actually needs pressure-sensitive triggers nowadays? Aside from racing simulators that is.
So what about ds4 vs xone controllers? I heard that xbox controller is typically considered to be more comfortable. Is it true?
Can't really try it anywhere, can only order online.
You can do Dark Souls with KB&M
If you put in a little effort you can do it with PS3/PS4 controller
If you don't care you can just use xbox controller and the game is already configured for it
they're both good
some people like that the xbox sticks are in more "natural" positions
biggest benefit though is that xbox controllers are designed to be plug & play for PC, and so all games with controller support will assume an xbox controller layout when you plug in any controller
don't know about nier since i have yet to play it but i found the 360 controller to be the most comfortable for dark souls. otherwise, i like the steam controller the most the majority of the time
Steam Contorller is great for FPS and games that requires K/M.
But I prefer the Xbox One controller for playing games like this.
And the PS4 one for the D-Pad...
but Retro-Bit will release a USB version of Saturn controller... so I think I'll swap the PS4 one for that.
Ds4 is great
Ds3 is Allright
Xbone if you like asymmetrical analogs(I don't)
Stay away from switch pro controller (shit support on pc)
Both are plug and play with steam.
Are their controllers good? I'd love to play some Genesis games, but I think I'd need a Genesis USB controller or an adapter for the best experience.
Tried to love the Steam controller, but couldn't get use to the trackpads no matter what I tried. I use a PS4 controller now. I hate a lot of things about the PS4 controller, but it has the best D-pad right now.
I'd buy the fuck out of that Saturn pad if it's anything like the original. I love my iBuffalo Super Famicom controller because of that, but almost everything else is crap.
So if you're going to be exclusively using this controller for only steam games, sure, maybe. Remember the steam controller is trying to emulate a mouse feel, not a controller. Some games are made with xbox and the like controllers in mind, not KB + M/Steam controller.
Personally I've found my Xbox controller way more enjoyable. Steam controller is nice if you are using it with a steamlink. If not, you might as well just go with a Xbox One controller. There's no point to get a steam controller if you're going to be sitting at your desk playing with a keyboard and mouse right in front of you.
Xbox One controllers work really well with W10 also, if you're on that OS.
Keep forgetting I own this stupid thing. Wonder what I should try it with since it seems to suck for everything.
Is it worth upgrading to ds4 for someone who has ds3?
Not all games are on steam/might not buy all games on steam.
I use a DS3 for xinput and a DS4 for native DS4 games
It's still not released, but people are saying they'll use the original molds and stuff...
I'll buy all of them, the Saturn, the Genesis and the Dreamcast one. They're officially licensed.
the dreamcast controller is an uncomfortable piece of shit
ds4 has worse start/select buttons but feels better overall in my opinion, the triggers sell it.
the lightbar can be turned off on PC, and the trackpad can be genuinely helpful for extra inputs and the ability to use it as a mouse
Works really well with doki doki literature club
I completed both games with mause and keyboard
you all are soy
kys
I want wireless controllers for my Dreamcast.
>Is steam controller a meme?
Yes, just get a DS4 or 360 controller
Getting the steam controller to work with games outside steam can be a hassle, so keep that in mind.
Wired Xbox 360 gamepad. I'm too lazy to much around with non-native compatibility or input mapping for most games.
I do have a Wii U pro controller laying around too though.
That's what everyone is hoping, to be just like the original one. Retro-Bit used to have a Saturn clone, people say it's pretty good.
DS4 is better
Still has all the features of Steam Controller (other than hd rumble which nothing really uses anyway and only serves to make touchpads haptic) while still being a real controller
Also from personal experience the Steam Controller bumpers are really awkward and awful so they're not great for Dark Souls
On the other hand having roll on a back paddle is super neat
>I saw wired Xbone controllers go for as low as $20
That means it's a third party knockoff
There is no 'wired Xbone controller' that is official
Every Xbone controller is made wired just by plugging in a microUSB cable
Dualshock 4 in conjunction with DS4Windows.
for anyone with a xbox one controller on windows 10, in the Microsoft Store you can download something called "game controller tester", you can test the vibration but you have to hold the RT/LT, but you can alt tab it and it'll keep vibrating without you holding them down. It's a very nice way to vibrate your cock.
The only thing that would make this controller better is a gyro (and analog triggers cause you can assign multiple actions to triggers just like Steam Controller for soft trigger presses)
My opinion, owning both and using both for PC games:
DS4 is technically the better option because it has a gyro and a touchpad, which Steam controller config lets you take full advantage of in any game (gyro does aim just like Splatoon by controlling the mouse, touchpads can do customizable touch menus)
However, Xbone has a way better dpad because I find the DS4 one really mushy and I get accidental jumps with it a lot in fighting games
So between the two I would pick the DS4 unless you're really into 2D games
If you can't wait, this is a modern 6 button controller that is also really good, has a slider switch to work with PC easy
amazon.com
I can back the DS4 up, decent quality and the touchpad and gyro add some good extra functionality
>Not playing with an Atari 2600 gamepad
Fucking casuals.
Xbone for better sticks and d-pad
PS4 for better face buttons and triggers
>not playing with a dreamcast fishing rod controller
the only game i actually go out of my way to use the steam controller is fallout new vegas. gyro aiming is so much fucking fun. i would use it in more games if mouse + controller was ever fucking supported. in more cases its servicable at least so ill use it to play jet set radio or sonic and sega all stars racing transformed. i guarantee singleplayer shooters of nu 2000s+ variety would be good though, serious sam/shadow warrior/doom 4. i even see games like rainbow six 3 being great with like gyro leaning and aiming
wrong, there are microsoft branded wired 360 controllers
360 controllers.
Not Xbone controllers.
Read.
360 controllers are shit
wrong, i didnt read clearly enough. i dont know why anyone would want an xbone controller
Because it's better in every way except for price.
No going back to 360 dpad
Get a DS4
Steam controller is fine in DaS for everything except moving the camera
Probably because the 360 controller has a terrible D-Pad and useless bumps on the stick that push into your thumb for literally no reason
you are on pc, why wouldnt you use a dpad controller for dpad games? xbone dpad is shit compared to super nintendo controller so get an adapter or get the bufalo classic usb gamepad for 10 dollars (really good chinkshit, cord is too fuckibg short though)
Because the SNES controller is really uncomfortable
The Xbone dpad is great so why wouldnt I use it for dpad games?
>xbone dpad is shit compared to super nintendo controller
Absolutely not. Xbone uses mechanical switches and SNES uses shitty rubber contacts that are so brittle that they start cracking after a year of use.
how has nokia been doing bill
Steam controller is top tier, provided you tweak it the way you want. Out of the box, it's terrible and you need to set it up right for it to work for you. Anyone who says its shit is just a moron and doesn't know how to use it.
Thanks for the suggestions guys, they both sound good. I think I'll wait for the Genesis controller since it sounds like they're going all out on it, but if those controllers turn out bad I'll get that Microsoft Licensed one.
>super nintendo controller
Absolute pleb
If you recommended the Saturn controller I could have resoected your idea
If those controllers turns out to be bad I'll be a sad boy, because I'll need to spend 200+ on a USB one.
