The worst year for PC games ever

The worst year for PC games ever.

>inb4 console faggots

Honestly, look at this depressing shit.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 was a huge disappointment
Dishonored: Death of the Outsider was my GOTY

That whole previous fucking year was a disappointment.

It's gotten to the point where I'm tempted to suspect that the few big studios has muscled out so many smaller developers, and made an agreement between themselves to significantly reduce the release rate of large, quality games, just to starve the market, and have gullible fuckwits throw money at dumbfuck games.

>Dishonored: Death of the Outsider was my GOTY
That pretty much says it all, doesn't it...

How it used to be...

Bigrig

I'm not too worried, to be honest. 2018 is gonna treat us better. Pillars of Eternity 2 coming out in less than three months.

What kind of crack are you on? 2017 was amazing.

There isn't a single game from 2017 I will ever play on any system, not just PC
Endless trash

Fuck off.

botw was ok

>2018
Pillars of Eternity 2
Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Mount & Blade 2
Insurgency Sandstorm
Metro Exodus

I felt 2015 was worse

>console
You cunt.

Prey and nioh were great, probably going to play nu-wolfenstein 2 and nier auto tomata too when they get cheaper.

2016? 2013? There are so many years that were way worse than 2017, for everyone.

yay sequels

2017 was trash on every platform

>emulators
retard

There are new IPs to be hyped for too but I only listed popular games

>2015 was worse
Not even close. Fuck off.

I don't see a single good game in that list.

>sequel to a bland as fuck RPG
>Skyrim: Third World Edition
>Mount & Blade with nice graphics but none of the mods that elevates the game to perfection
>Dead Multiplayer game #7435246
>Cinematic Shooter: Now with more open world cancer!

It's not great is it. Though Bannerlord could still be GOTY, even if it's just a rehash of M&B:W with a few improved mechanics.

I'm interested in what kind of effect the GPU crypto crisis is going to have on PC gaming.

You guys just don't like video games.

>2016? 2013?
Not even close.

2017 was a great year.

PCfags confirmed bad taste

>not a single good game in that entire image

Year of disappointment more like.

>Witcher became a generic AAA Ubisoft open world game
>Fallout 4 made Skyrim look like a masterpiece
>Metal Gear became a generic AAA Ubisoft open world game
>Bloodborne looked amazing but is stuck on the PS4

Then you're just a retarded mongoloid that has successfully disqualified himself from having an opinion on the matter.

Dark Souls 3 is right there...

So what outstanding PC games was released in 2017?

>frequently mentioned on the internet

>literally judging a games quality by how hard it’s shilled

>horizon zero dawn

My sides

To be fair both of those are pretty bad years. Even if they have a few decent games. None of them really stand out as being something must play.

Divinity 2

Total Warhammer is pretty good.

you mean every year

>name one game that came out for PC in the last 10 years that is truly a great game
>pro tip, you can't

Can't wait to see you massive list of 'why things don't count'

Name a single fucking year since 2010 that wasn't worse than 2017. You cannot do it.

>Arcsys had a habit of releasing PC versions of their anime fighters months before consoles got the newest iteration
>Arcsys is releasing DBZ fighter on PC at the same time as consoles

>Capcom was one of the few Japanese publishers to release games on PC at the same time as consoles
>they will delay MHW to a vague "fall" date

>both of these games are releasing on the same date for consoles

What a time to be alive. That would be like Rockstar releasing RDR2 at the same time as consoles while Bethesda delays the PC version of their next game.

So one game. That falls into a lot of the pitfalls of the first game. Great year indeed.

Fair enough. Never played it. I just feel bored with the series these days, feels like I'm more or less just playing the same game over and over again with some minor changes here and there.

These people were raped by their uncle when they were 6 years old, so now they spend their time trolling people in cyberspace to get back at the cruel, cruel world.

>faint, scattered applause

>literally can't name one

Do you mean exclusives or also console ports? And regarding console ports, for the delayed ones, do they count for their original year of release, or the PC one? Ie, would GTA4 be a 2013 or a 2015 game?

You were wrongly attributed in this post: Apologies.

>steam gets endless trashy weeb games that was made 5 years ago and nobody played
>meanwhile all the interesting titles people actually really want to play like Yakuza and Persona 4 are ignored
Actually, does Sony have a stake in P4? Seems kinda odd that it's a exclusive despite being such a big expensive project.

Sony owns the voice actor and musician unions that provided the voices and music of the Persona series, and Yakuza events are filled to the brim with Sony logos.

Define 'truly great'

>Literally meme games

2012. Dishonored was the only game that came out that year that didn't disappoint me.

This, but unironically.

Massive faggots who need attention on an anonymous imageboard most likely have some genuine mental disorder.

I felt the same, I was one of the few who didn't really care for Shogun 2 because of its lack of unit variety and mechanics. With Warhammer, and possibly Three Kingdoms, I think they're allowed to bring more varied rosters that otherwise wouldn't really make sense in a pure historical setting.
The mechanics they have been bringing since Attila, such as northern kingdoms in Attila needing to expand south to get more fertile farm land and Warhammer's corruption, brings much needed experimentation to the series.
I still don't agree with their streamlining of unit formations and things of that nature though.

PC exclusives only

How does Sony own a union? Also how is it a union of they are only allowed to be in Sony products?
And can't Sega just scrub out the Sony logos? Or let them remain as part of some agreement? Sony has done so before with Metal Gear for example. I mean the old games were released on Wii U after all.

I've been saying this for years now. Best combo is a home console and a toaster to emulate retro titles and play old PC games on. There is absolutely nothing worth playing that is exclusive to PC these days.

PC used to be the best gaming platform back when devs fully supported it. It had a great run up until the late 2000's.

Thank you my son

True but then you would have to play multiplats on a console which is a fucking awful experience.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun

Japanese unions behave differently from American ones, I just used union as a name because they're a collective of contractual employees. If it means anything, like you said Yakuza had releases on the Wii U a day Persona had that one game for the 360, so they aren't as contractually obligated as we imagine. Sega atlus only care for Japan, Japan doesn't game on PC, thus no Yakuza or Persona for PC.

>nerd game
>nerd game

>some cod cs rip off
>probably good

>multiplats on a console
The multiplats were literally designed for console. Some run better on PC but others are riddled with performance issues when they are ported to PC. Now if it's designed for PC like PUBG and then ported to console that's another story.

nothing of value was lost

Western multiplats are an awful experience on any platform.

>Gaming on a PC

> Halo 4
> Crusader Kings II
> XCOM Enemy Unknown
> Telltale's Walking Dead
> Witcher 2
Did I ever tell you the definition of insanity?

>Autists elsewhere exclaim 2017 da best yer 3 gaems eva
>Sup Forums says it's the worst year for vidya ever
Every year.

the definitive edition of botw is on pc tho

Basically, consoles for exclusives and PC for multiplats. The best way to play video games.

What do you expect from nu-Sup Forums?

>people in their mid-late 20s and early 30s generally agree that games were pretty good in 2017
>Sup Forums shits on the game of 2017 because they're dumb teenagers

>GPU prices skyrocket due to miners
>Reddit can't buy new GPUs to play the newest AAA movie trash multiplats
>Reddit, normalfags, underages, and assorted scum all move back to consoles where they belong
>PC goes back to being a niche market filled with niche games for enthusiasts

Thank you cryptominers, unironically.

This is one of the very few years where a single platform completely and utterly dominates.

The last time was probably minecraft at release and halo 3 before that.

Not even man, it's not worth having an up to date gaming PC for multiplats. Better to just take the framerate hit and play it on a console that is a hell of a lot more affordable.

Let me correct you
>>PC goes back to being a niche market with no games but indieshit that can be played on a toaster
You're welcome

Didn't realize most console games allow using M&K, has graphics options, can be edited/modded and all that other jazz.
>others are riddled with performance issues when they are ported to PC
And yet the still look and run better than their console counterparts. Don't get me wrong I'm not one of those fags that hate consoles with a passion, hell I have two next to me right now. But the fact remains playing on a console is almost always a kinda shitty experience and the reason I do use them is because exclusives.
A few aren't.

*nu-Sup Forums

Yeah, PS4 is absolutely dominating right now and has since launch. PC got cucked along with Xbox and Nintendo is still great for the baby and soyboy audience.

That's like saying India dominates the world because they have the highest poo related deaths or something.

You contrarian faggots think every year is the worst year. More often than not it's just bait, but sometimes a really special user actually believes that. Responding to your bait thread before I go enjoy my comfy mode because I just made tea and it's hot so I can't drink it yet.

Hollow Knight, Cuphead, Resident Evil 7, Nier: Automata, Prey, Divinity: Original Sin 2, Night in the Woods are the first that come to mind. All available on PC. Inb4 all of the games I listed are shit. Enjoy being a miserable shit OP.

Shit, disappointing considering Paradox's other games, disappointing until EW in 2013, shit, and also shit.

Yep, it was fucking embarrassing.

>nerd game
You need to leave. NOW!

Open your friends list on ps4. Everyone will be playing fortnite, and they're only playing it due to no pubg. It's literally the only thing sonybros play irl

except for doom mods, that's for sure
>he still plays brutal doom, when high noon drifter exists

>Divinity: OS2
>Starcraft Remastered
>Sonic Mania (via piratebay)

fuck off

Only games I've played the last year have been Dominions, Factorio, Dorf, Rock of Ages 2, Dark Wood, and TTSim. Only RoA2 out of those won't run well on a toaster. So yeah, that's fine by me.

Perhaps you should stop being such an underage pleb that plays AAA games made for sub-90 IQ subhumans?

While there are some good ones one there one of them are really all that great either.

I can't think of a single PC game released this year that surprised me or got me really excited. For the first time in like 5 years I was jealous that I didn't own a current get console.

All garbage.

Agreed that mouse and keyboard will always be superior and it's great for modding but it's not worth the cost. I bought a 2,000$ gaming PC five years ago and basically only used it for emulators and old PC games that I wasn't able to play when I was younger. A lot of the exclusive titles of recent era didn't interest me and I hated waiting for ports. I would usually cave and buy them on my consoles. Now i just dont see the benefits of upgrading my PC and basically solely use it as a torrenting machine now. Hell, i play my fucking Dreamcast more than I play games on my PC.

Bottom line, it's not worth the cost and expenses over the years for only a few decent RTS exclusives and multiplayer games.

>I only play autism simulators
Why do you think you're any better than AAA gargling kids?

Not him but you don't need to spend $2k on a pc at all.

Spend a extra $150 on a gpu for a desktop/better laptop for when your normal use pc needs replacing.

That's always been by far the cheapest way to game since everyone owns a pc anyway

I'm a PS4 owner and fortnite is the gayest fucking game on the market. It's kiddieshit just like LoL. PUBG is hot garbage. I'm waiting for them to make the sequel that will be released on PS4 and Xbone without the performance issues and bugs. But honestly, I could care less. 99% of the games I play are single player.

I bought my computer in 2010. Upgraded to a GTX 760 three or so years ago during black Friday and bought 4GB RAM a year and half ago and I've not had any major issues playing newer games. Only very recently have some games started giving me serious issues with 1080p and 60FPS.

>starcraft remastered
This really says it all

Also three games for all of 2017. What kind of fucking casuals have PC gamers become?

>I could care less

Hollow Knight was indeed excellent, but a rare ray of sunshine in an otherwise abysmal year. The other games on your list are all meh.

>breath of the wild in 4K
>hat in time

but PC won?

I'm not saying there are issues with continuing to game on PC over the last number of years. I'm just saying that I have no motivation to do so anymore. I've beat all the classics through steam and gog and just have no incentive to upgrade my PC for new titles.

That's what you get for playing on PC, where only western shit and F2P crap get released.
