As everyone knows, games are more expensive than ever and frankly, we gamers are spoiled with unprecedented polish and gameplay that videogames have never seen before. $59.99 isn't cutting it. Why aren't you writing to your favorite publisher to nudge up game prices?
Game prices should go UP

lol
Games are more expensive now because of out of control marketing campaigns, not because of a change in QA. Take your corporate dickriding elsewhere.
>Multi-tiered deluxe editions
>Season passes
>DLC not included in the season pass
>Microtransactions
>Early access
Fuck off shill

>spoiled with unprecedented polish and gameplay that videogames have never seen before
Fucking kek , games were polished back in the cartridge days. Now its a fucking turd BEING polished from release date , if you are lucky within 2 years it may appear polished.
They used to have to release a complete game , that was when there was polish
You just watched Extra Credits, didn't you?
So... Sheep, or shill?
Seriously tho, think about how many A and AA games aren't being made because us gamers demand the highest fidelity graphics and locked 60 fps or else we won't buy them. Honestly if the Xbox one's original plan of DRM came to fruition the games industry would be in a much better state. Also having more episodic games aren't a bad thing.
Oh so it's free to make a gigantic game and polish and squash bugs year after release?
>because us gamers demand the highest fidelity graphics
Thats why games that are actually fun like terraria and not the next rehash of the same shit actually sell well and likely make a profit when they rely on the game being good rather than a 500 million dollar advertising budget
Game prices can go as high as they want to go. In the end, I'll still only buy them for $40 or less. Should it remain expensive, I'll simply pirate the titles.
Ok faggot , NES games were less then a MB in size and i garuntee even the shittier qulity NES games received more play time to complete than your new age garbage that the campaign is 4-10 hours with every scrub being able to complete it easy
>Games should go up
Agreed, Make games $100, and put actual effort into them over the course of 5 years, and I'[ll gladly buy them.
...
>games have always been $59
>the quality has only gone down tremendously
>games are released with people falling through the fucking ground
>Monster Hunter World
>Dragonball Fighter Z
>Laced with pre-order and post release DLC
I'm not even touching that shit until there are major price reductions.
>$59.99 isn't cutting it
That's why AAA shit have numerous special editions ranging from $80 to $150+, season passes, DLC, microtransactions, loot boxes, sponsorship deals, etc, and yet they still have the nerve to release games in little better than early access status while still trying to cry poverty.
Even if it's just cosmetics and gestures, I hope World U comes with everything included
This is why they should get rid of that crap, and have better quality control and come up with new ideas. Only have DLC work like expansion packs.
Seriously every AAA game that has been coming out has shit quality, buggy, and bloated use of HDD space. Indie devs do the opposite where the games have better quality, less buggy, and don't use up tons of HDD space.
>Games are buggier than ever
>games are being released unfinished
> Locked out content
> video games are being dumbed down
> Publishers charging $60 for shit tier games
KYS faggot
>This is why they should get rid of that crap, and have better quality control and come up with new ideas. Only have DLC work like expansion packs.
They should, but they won't since loot boxes are the easiest money making scheme in gaming. That and they've been working hard to normalize microtransactions and season passes so they won't just give up on them. We just have to keep doing what we always do(or what I always do at least), wait until "Game: Complete Game Edition" comes out and buy that when it's on sale.
>They should, but they won't since loot boxes are the easiest money making scheme in gaming
Wait till they become illegal if that happens. Then what will devs do?
>wait until "Game: Complete Game Edition" comes out and buy that when it's on sale
If FFXV is any indication even that won't be possible soon.
They will change the wording and how they work slightly so they can still get away with it. They already do this by making it so you don't pay "real" money for loot boxes, you buy game monopoly money and use that to buy loot boxes.
>Final Fantasy used to be released in a near yearly basis and a were all considered to be some of the best games of all time
>mfw Final Fantasy from now on will take 5+ years of dev time to be made and will take another 1-2 years after release before finally being a finished product.
>even then they are met with mixed response
>Why aren't you writing to your favorite publisher to nudge up game prices?
You are not into indies?
Why not make indie games with 100+ buck tag?
This, it's also been a well documented fact that normies ignore. 70% of a games' budget is solely devoted to fucking marketing.
Fuck that noise.
it's bad enough they have the option of nickel & diming consumers with excessive and needless dlc instead of packaging it all into an expansion.
Also how about they start releasing less buggy pieces of shit or invest in newer/better compression so they aren't pushing out a 50gb buggy piece of shit thanks to deadlines
Except the fact games are cheaper to make now based on activision ea and Ubisoft’s own admission
That is always a hilarious thing.
People have been programming these things for 40+ damn years now, and the fuckers doing it today can't even make good collision code...
>Games are more expensive now because of out of control marketing campaigns
Oh yeah hands down. I bet Bioware on development of ME3. Had everything planned out to the very end. Marketing comes in "By the way you need to cut this much off, Since we have all confirmed a good day to market it"
Hell Todd must have called it a fluke on 11/11/11. Bet des were under heavy order to finish it for the main date for promotion. Leaving them at risk of losing more people due to it being still unstable. EA or any marketing for games companies. Just want to see the profit and not the passion.
While I won't write a letter I am a vocal advocate of raising game prices and I always make sure to purchase the largest version of a game at release to make sure they are getting adequate money.
Mate, I pay $100 for my games, they used to be $70 about 20 years ago.
no thanks, we already pay $80 here, count yourself lucky if you only pay 60
why did you come here?
youtube.com
If games include microtransactions they should be either free or discounted heavily. Day 1 dlc games should be half price.
Lol thats retarded. Game industry would crash.
*sales numbers drop*
I haven’t bought a game in 15 years, and frankly I hope the industry collapses and game developers blow their collective brains out.
I have also pirated indie games too, so indie devs too
Why hello fellow avid Extra Credits viewer, I see that you are well versed in your knowledge of the industry involving electronic entertainment. I will have you know that I have accumulated over 900 hours of viewing Extra Credit's content and I must say that I am well informed about electronic entertainment development and the mechanisms for pricing video games and how it effects the profit margins of video game companies.
We need to embrace sustainable game development models that allow content creators to create downloadable content, for cosmetic purposes, possibly behind systems on which generate random drop rates to incentivize further purchases by players to acquire desirable content, and post release expansions or content several months after release.
