Metroid V will get crafting too right?
>Metroidvania
>open world
>female protagonist
>crafting
what else are we missing? soulslike?
God no please no
Dawn of Sorrow had a crafting system, stop panicking over inane bullshit.
I can't imagine the game will be hard enough to warrant a system where you can make your own health potions!
There's a good and bad capable of this.
It depends if crafting is your sole means to getting better shit outside of drops.
Or if it's an alternative to paying for the shop's prices and an ability to turn shittier early game stuff you didn't use directly into better ones.
>you backed this game at the $100 level
>some MN9 backers still haven't gotten their rewards
This is the first and last time I'm being bamboozled by a kickstarter
>commenting without watching the video or having any idea how previous games in the series worked
Sup Forums has finally become youtube.
Dawn of Sorrow had crafting
>Dawn of Sorrow
ah yes, the peak of the Castlevania series
Dawn was better than Aria if you don't count the artstyle and the gay touchscreen controls.
And the crafting system was shit because it meant grinding even more souls when Dawn's drop rates were already atrocious.
the only issue with DoS is the shitty anime portraits, it had top notch gameplay, bosses, music, visuals, tons of spells and weapons, Doppelganger soul was a great addition to the series, so I gotta ask: what are you trying to get at?
I'm sure it is better when you don't count what makes it not better
It makes sense if you don't think about it.
I forgot about drawing the seals to finish the bosses, but it's still a very small part of the game (fortunately)
>ignoring 99% of the game
>let's focus on these 2 minor details tho
fuck off
And the shit castle design, and the shit bosses, and the worse music, and the useless warp locations.
The only things Dawn did better were the sprite art and having equipment sets.
>still no release
>still no beta
>still no 2017 e3 demo access
>still no alpha
Glad I kickstarted this train wreck
I was hoping for a bit more substantial update.
Don't worry user, they'll have lots to talk about soon(TM)!
...but there was a beta my dude
>tfw backed the superior metroidvania
Feels good man
>There are people on Sup Forums who actually back Kickstarters
You are fucking retarded.
no there was a demo from 2016
Sorry, meant for
that game looks boring as fuck
pretty but boring
I certainly don't feel bad about having backed Shovel Knight, A Hat in Time, and Hollow Knight.
That games pixels literally hurt my eyes holy shit this looks like ass.
Well yeah, it started full development like a month ago
Looks fine to me.
yeah good excuse buddy
>DoS' crafting
Fucking why
fact: metriodvanias were never good. They're only liked by people who are too shit to play the classicvanias
>shit bosses,
Golem, Great Armor, Headhunter, SotN Dracula final boss ripoff, Chaos, Manticore, Creaking Skull, Legion, and a couple actually good ones that are Balore and Death
versus
Balore, Death, Gergoth, Abaddon, Menace, Zephyr, Aguni, these already outdo AoS bosses, and there are more
>and the worse music
Castle Corridor, Clock Tower, Heart of Fire and Top Floor are great, let's count Inner Quarters too to inflate AoS side, the rest are just good
meanwhile, Dawn of Sorrow has After Confession, Condemned Tower, Cursed Clock Tower, Dracula's Tears, Into the Dark Night, Pitch Black Intrusion, Subterranean Hell, The Pinnacle
and in case you don't want to count remixes, in a separate list (even though Heart of Fire is a remix of 2 songs): Beginning, Bloody Tears, Illusonary Song, Underground Mellodies and Vampire Killer
so yeah, you're full of shit
Still looking real ugly. Glad I didn't back this.
Divinity 2 is worth every single dollar.
the only thing that looks bad is the stupid dunce hat helmet, I don't get why people are trying to shit on these
At least it has an excuse, unlike Bloodstained
What is this game called? I only saw a trailer for it on Facebook when a friend shared it from a meme page
>Zephyr
I like DoS as much as you do, but come on now this boss is pretty bad. Good concept, but bad executions. And AoS' OST is just as good as DoS.
Sorry that you can't like something without shitting on other stuff.
>Zephy is pretty bad
compared to what? the AoS bosses are pathetic
>moves around slowly and stometimes throws an attack
>Sorry that you can't like something without shitting on other stuff.
I like AoS, but it won't stop me from pointing out weak aspects of it.
>AoS' OST is just as good as DoS.
absolutely not, it's mostly ok songs like The Arena song, the caves song, the garden song, and the study song
credit where it's due, always
>why can't i play a game before it is finished and released??
Sound like a whiny millennial
>shovel knight
trash
>a hat in time
good
>hollow knight
trash
one out of three isn't very impressive user
Pedo detected
Backed Indivisible for $60, can't wait for it, pham.
Sorry for your bad taste
>>shovel knight
>trash
>credit where it's due, always
Follow your own advice.
Baka
I am, that's why it's easy to say DoS is better than AoS.
And where did I state the opposite? You're shitting on AoS for the wrong reasons.
>D-DONT TALK SHIT ABOUT MY FABORITE BIDEO BEIM!!!!!! NOSTALGIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even if I did "shit on AoS for the wrong reasons", why are they wrong, and what are the right reasons to shit on AoS? Teach me the truth, oh master of vagueness.

>nostalgia
>about a game that isn't 5 years old
It's a game designed through and through to appeal to nostalgiaretards, it has absolutely nothing of it's own to stand on. It doesn't even do any of the things it's trying to borrow very well.
>It's a game designed through and through to appeal to nostalgiaretards, it has absolutely nothing of it's own to stand on. It doesn't even do any of the things it's trying to borrow very well.
Redundant souls, bad droprates (which are DoS problems too), floaty gameplay. DoS' bosses, while better on average, aren't something amazing. Zephyr for example is fucking garbage on the same tier as Creaking Skull, and then you have Dmitrii which is flat out pathetic. Most of them are piss easy too, not to mention they butchered Balore. There's no point in arguing about the music because it's subjective.
it actually looks real nice so far, i just wish theyd finish the damn thing
I like Metroidvanias and Classicvanias equally, what now, bathead?
I'd rather give them as much time as they need to polish the thing as much as they like than rushing it.
>Redundant souls,
I don't really remember many souls being too samey
>bad droprates (which are DoS problems too),
it's optional side content, which I'm fine with (in both games)
>floaty gameplay.
that's a Metroidvania thing, the only non-floaty one is arguably CotM, I like it (though the bosses should be made like in PoR and OoE to better suit the freedom of movement
>DoS' bosses, while better on average, aren't something amazing.
I like most of them, even if they should be made hard
> Zephyr for example is fucking garbage on the same tier as Creaking Skull,
jesus christ no, both in presentation and moveset Zephyr is way more interesting
also another issue with AoS is that a lot of bosses later on became regular enemies so they kinda had to accommodate that in their design
>and then you have Dmitrii which is flat out pathetic
which is why I didn't mention him (even though I like his gimmick, he was way underdeveloped)
>. Most of them are piss easy too,
a problem with SotN, AoS and DoS, they really need an up in difficulty
> not to mention they butchered Balore.
How come? I like his design more in AoS, but his moveset is very simmilar
>wind up smash/punch
>position yourself
>EYE LASER JUMP/CROUCH
>not liking both
shiggy diggy ma niggy
Why does the concept art look so much better than the actual game?
also, do you really think that songs like the garden one, the arena one, the study one are really top notch like most of the series' songs? like, do you really place them in that high tier of songs you love? I don't mean to insult, like you said, it's really subjective, just asking
and since we're talking AoS music, here's a remix that I never see posted that was in the official soundtrack
looks pretty good actually
WIll this game have a Level 1 mode like OoE? I really liked that challenge. I want to do a no upgrade level 1 run with this game when it comes out.
>both in presentation and moveset Zephyr is way more interesting
What moveset? Throw daggers, jump and throw daggers, and timestop? Zephyr is one of the worst bosses in the entire game. I actually can't think of a worse boss other than Dmitrii.
>a problem with SotN, AoS and DoS
So AoS and DoS are not that different in quality then.
>How come?
Well, I could start with the fact that he actually uses both arms instead of one, or that you have to constantly dodge his beams while managing to damage him on his second phase instead of easily crouching to avoid a flashy laser that's almost useless, not to mention his heavily telegraphed punches.
>do you really think that songs like the garden one, the arena one, the study one are really top notch like most of the series' songs?
No, in the same way I wouldn't put Demon Guest House or the Abyss theme on top (not saying they're bad, expecting an entire OST to be made of classic-tier songs is unrealistic and it's a problem for both games). It does have top notch songs, like the Chapel theme.
>expecting an entire OST to be made of classic-tier songs is unrealistic and it's a problem for both games)
*ahem*
youtube.com
>It does have top notch songs, like the Chapel theme.
which others do you love besides that and what I already mentioned?
>What moveset? Throw daggers, jump and throw daggers, and timestop? Zephyr is one of the worst bosses in the entire game.
and is still more interesting than most AoS bosses, and I like the counter mechanic, and even after you figure it out he still does a special move then (time stop then line up daggers on top of you)
>I actually can't think of a worse boss other than Dmitrii.
well, Malphas is pretty shitty
>So AoS and DoS are not that different in quality then.
The game's quality isn't dictated exclusively by their difficulty, unless it's so easy that it's shit, like Kirby games, or so hard it's unplayable or something like that
>Well, I could start with the fact that he actually uses both arms instead of one,
Are you complaining about that visually or gameplay?
>or that you have to constantly dodge his beams while managing to damage him on his second phase instead of easily crouching to avoid a flashy laser that's almost useless, not to mention his heavily telegraphed punches.
He's like, the second boss or something, of course they had to make him easier, and even then it's not like he was hard on AoS anyways.
Don't forget the DoS' Julius mode btfos AoS'
I actually prefer AoS' because Julius is way cooler to play as in AoS, with higher movespeed, cool sprite instead of fat, sky high uppercut
And it was good
Dawn of Sorrow fucking sucked
Those are all good things, but I can't ignore the Dracula's Curse homage and the kino true final boss. It was perfect
Why is anyone even still trying to argue about Aria of Sorrow?
It's the perfect game. It the absolute peak of video gaming that every game aspires to reach.
You literally cannot make an argument against it, give up.
here's your cough syrup familya
This was far more of a waste. Boss was cool, but the area was pointless
>that whip animation
Mommy please
Yeah. I dunno what the fuck happened there.
>Dude how about we like a area with all almost completely straight lines!
The hallways are the same but there aren't any reused rooms.
>how do you want your level design, famp?
>straight lines only
>say no more
Ok, so both games are garbage.
if its like curse of darkness i don't mind
>youtube.com
I was talking about the modern games.
>which others do you love besides that
Title theme
Dance Hall
Underground Reservoir
Dracula's Fate
Credits theme
>and is still more interesting than most AoS bosses
shrines.rpgclassics.com
Which ones? Only Manticore and maybe Creaking Skull.
>well, Malphas is pretty shitty
I agree. Good design though.
>The game's quality isn't dictated by their difficulty
I agree
>Are you complaining about that visually or gameplay?
Gameplay. DoS Balore's visuals aren't that bad, though I personally liked the mysterious prison on AoS more.
>even then it's not like he was hard on AoS anyways.
If he wasn't hard then why dumb it down?
DoS is worse though because it has slower movement speed with bigger hallways.
one of them is worse than the other
>And get this, there's absolutely nothing at the ends of the map too
>Shit, you must be a genius
The point of this was to set the mood with the corpses walking towards Legion, the problem was that 1 long corrider was enough to make that point , they made the area too big.
sh-shut up! AoS has better level design than DoS!!
To be fair though, if were' complaining about maps being strait lines, Ecclesia was by far the worst offender.
>AoSfag even deleted his post
top kek, was the bully too hard?
>b-but Ecclesia
is not what everyone was discussing
you want to talk about it, fine, just don't try to shift focus away from AoS and AoS shitters always saying DoS has shit level design compared to AoS
Jesus christ, calm the fuck down, no one is trying to defend either AoS or DoS here, I just stated the obvious fact that Ecclesia was worse than both when it came to having linear maps, and I prefer Ecclesia to both of those.
>bad droprates (which are DoS problems too)
The drop rates in Dawn are significantly worse than in Aria, they're on a whole different level of how much they fuck with the game. PoR and OoE had the same problem, I don't know what's with Iga's boner for Korean MMO level grinding bullshit in the games but it better not happen in Bloodstained.
>Complaining about straight lines
Why? Every Castlevania is filled with straight line levels. It doesn't make levels bad
I mean at least that was kinda the point of it. Granted you can still say there was too many maps like that.
>that UI
1999 here we come again
You forgot puppet master and paranoia, I mean DoS has so many cool bosses. I actually fucking love DoS so much and I did the mistake of playing AoS after it. Both games are good though
>no one is trying to defend either AoS or DoS here
Seems like you haven't even skimmed over the thread, dude.
If people are going to bring that fucking bullcrap they always bring that AoS has better level design than DoS, of course I'm going to shit on them. I don't have a problem with straight corridors specifically, but if we're going to compare level design, that's what there is to discuss.
>Puppet Master is too easy... like usual, but Harmony of Despair showed how fucking beneficial a hard mode is to bosses
>Paranoia
oh fuck yeah, loved his concept and presentation
>I actually fucking love DoS so much and I did the mistake of playing AoS after it.
AoS isn't really going a lot backwards, it's playable just fine (unlike going to CotM after getting used to the SotN movement style, for example)
>Both games are good though
of course
DoS is pretty fucking good
not the peak, but definetly a solid game
