Neurodiversity and taste in video games

Do neuronormative and neurodiverse people enjoy different types of games?

Wut?

>neuronormative and neurodiverse
As someone with high functioning autism. Can you please juts say "autstic people"?

The answer to your question is "yes". People with autism tend to gravitate towards certain games. I myself prefer games I can immerse in and focus on, like Terraria where I can dump hours into building.

Apparently autists play Antichamber better than neurotypicals.

Stop fucking calling it neurodiverse asshat. I am a fucking autist, alot of us are assburger and extra fries without the shake because the fucking machine broke. Just fucking call it autism. Im sick of people trying to baby us with these pillow terms as if we would be offended over our disorders being named. We are not babies. You only make others put a false sense of pity on us and provide pretentious assholes opportunities to virtue signal their "tolerance" whenever you use such terminology. If you have any respect for us then treat us like fucking adults and dont be such a coward about talking to us about our mental health. Go fuck yourself.

>neuronormative
you mean normal people without a disorder.
you're like and autistic SJW who can't accept you're the weird one. I accepted i was weird a long time ago.

Sorry for rustling your neurons

Yes, i am a sorry person apparantly a sorry person who is "neurodiverse" please pity my "sorry" ass.
Apology denied now die in a hole.

People with autism tend to enjoy Sonic more than normal people.

Don't you have a puzzle to do?

Was just opening up my unicorn and rainbows puzzle when i saw this thread but now i dont want to do it as my day is now ruined. Only my tendies can fix this.

I love spacechem!

Don't autists tantrum when something doesn't fit into straight lines and right angles? Whenever something doesn't fit the pattern they do a salty.
You'd think Antichamber would be hell for them.

Depends on the person really.

I never quite understood the conflation of autism with OCD. But we do all so fucking hate loud noises.

For Sup Forums or internet in general anything that can be labeled "weird" is autism.
Autism became such a buzzword it doesn't really mean anything.

>But we do all so fucking hate loud noises
can confirm. My TV's volume is at two(2) at all times

Autist here, I feel the opposite actually. It's absolutely frustrating to see how far the SJW movement is progressing yet people look and insultingly judge how I behave like I'm a fucking nigger or something. I'm a human being too goddammit

>neuronormal
>neurodiverse

I REALLY hope a meteor does turn the serface of this planet to ash in 2030.

Why?
What's wrong with being polite?

It's really mostly the more mentally deficient kind of autists who are similar to that, and it's unlikely that one would post here.

Antichamber is all about patterns. You just need to figure out what those patterns are.

>insultingly judge how I behave like I'm a fucking nigger or something
Only reason that happens is cause people see extreme cases of Autism and see it as the norm for autists. A bias, I guess?

Its basically the same reason why a black man would not like being called an african american. We dont need to be constantly reminded about how we are different from society when alot of us want is to simply fit in in the grand scheme of things. You can only take alienation and weird looks for so long user.

Most people assume autism is a concretely defined condition, when in actuality we don't really know what it is at all. As someone who has interacted with autists of all types, I can say with some certainty that the vast majority of human beings are a bit autistic. People say "on the spectrum" as if you can be off it, but that isn't how it works.

Tbh i honestly hate how i am a literally quarter cherokee and half indentured irish slave with post civil war german migrant and they still have the nerve to assurt that my ancestors were "priveledged" because my skin is lighter. Like fucking hell half my blood went through genocide and slavery so fuck off.

>half my blood went through genocide
Pity it wasn't all of it.

I forgive that remark for the sole fact it made me slightly ammused.

>Pokemon was invented by an autistic person and the game features things he enjoyed
>became one of the most popular franchises in history
Can we agree that there is no such thing as "autistic games" unless you assume most of the world is autistic.

HIGH FUNCTIONING AUTISTIC INDIVIDUALS, HEREAFTER REFERRED TO AS "AUTISTIC" OR "METAHUMANS" PREFER GAMES THAT COGNITIVELY-IMPAIRED INDIVIDUALS, ID EST THOSE ON THE LOWER END OF THE AUTISTIC SPECTRUM AND NEURONORMATIVE INDIVIDUALS, HEREAFTER REFERRED TO AS "NON-AUTISTIC", "HUMAN", OR "SUBHUMAN", DEPENDING ON THEIR DEVIATION FROM OPTIMALITY, DO NOT.
THE METAHUMAN WILL PREFER GAMES FOCUSED AROUND OPTIMIZING AND CREATING; THE HUMAN WILL PREFER GAMES FOCUSED AROUND INTERACTION AND REWARD; THE SUBHUMAN WILL PREFER GAMES FOCUSED AROUND DOMINATION OF OTHERS.
SOME EXAMPLE GAMES ARE LISTED BELOW.
METAHUMAN: CRAFTING GAMES, MUSIC OR NUMBER-BASED GAMES, GAMES INVOLVING CARDBOARD, ETC
HUMAN: MMOS, "NINTENDO GAMES," RPGS, ETC
SUBHUMAN: FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS, RACING GAMES, ETC

>GAMES INVOLVING CARDBOARD
Isn't it Nintendo games?

dont use the term neurodiversity you fucking cuck just use neuroatypical, and yes spergs like games with complex systems, im pretty convinced most of the people that enjoy grand strategy at least register somewhere on the tism scale

kek

INCORRECT, "GAMES INVOLVING CARDBOARD" MAY BE NINTENDO GAMES, BUT ARE NOT NECESSARILY NINTENDO GAMES, ID EST THE GAME "HOUSE" IS PLAYED WITH A CARDBOARD BOX, AND IT HAS YET TO BE PATENTED OR SOLD BY NINTENDO, THOUGH IT WOULD LIKELY BE TO THEIR ADVANTAGE TO SELL SUCH A PRODUCT TO HUMANS.
THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN A "NINTENDO GAME" AND A "NINTENDO GAME INVOLVING CARDBOARD" IS THAT THE FORMER IS COMPRISED OF THE GAME GIVING THE PLAYER A GOAL, AND THEN EXPECTING THE PLAYER TO FEEL SATISFIED ONCE SAID GOAL IS ACHIEVED, WHILE THE LATTER HAS NO DEFINITE GOAL; IT IS UP TO THE IMAGINATION OF THE USER TO DECIDE WHAT PURPOSE THE CARDBOARD COULD SERVE.

I IMAGINE MOST HUMANS WHO HEARD ABOUT "NINTENDO LABO" WERE MOST EXCITED BY THE GAMES AND USES THEY WOULD BE PROVIDED, BY THE POSSIBLE EXPERIENCES THE PROGRAMMERS AND DESIGNERS HAD COME UP WITH FOR THEM TO ENJOY.
I IMAGINE MOST METAHUMANS WERE MOST EXCITED BY THE POTENTIAL APPLICATIONS, PROGRAMMING AND PHYSICAL, OF HAVING THE VARIOUS TOOLS PROVIDED BY THE "JOY-CONS" TO USE TO CREATE THEIR OWN EXPERIENCES WITH CARDBOARD STRUCTURES.

Autists are the gay men of the neurodiverse community. Neurodiversity includes more than just autism, you know

I'm autistic and generally avoid games with a heavy focus on story and characters. I mostly enjoy Shoot Em Ups and other kind of games with a good amount of difficulty and high replay value through different paths or multiple interesting build options.

user you just like good games

Yeah, can’t stand it when cars/lorries drive past me on the sidewalk. Too loud.

I feel that that's very natural when living in such an obnoxious environment.

>Assburger
>Sperg
>Autist
>Loony
What are some other synonyms for neurodiverse?

METAHUMAN

I hate sudden loud noises like dogs barking, I am always startled by them.
Also I hate uncomfortable clothes and tags, not sure if it is just preference or actual autism.

legoboy

I’m autistic too, but some of my favourite games are RPGs with heavy story focus, I actually enjoy fiction quite a lot. I do tend to play those same games over and over again though,I have nearly 1000 hours in Dragon Age: Origins but I never really deviate from my usual story decisions.

Loud noises are fine for me so long as they are consistent. A rock concert, race car or jet engine is fine by me, but a balloon popping or one of these evil fucking creations makes me want to strangle someone.

Full Spectrum Worrier.

oh shit 10/10

>neurodiverse
kindly kill yourself

I generally play roguelikes the most. Normalfags generally have bland and shit taste while the autist is well versed through years of caring for his interests.
cute

What kind of rougelikes? I only played Elona+ and FTL and liked them both.

nethack
DCSS
Caves of Qud
PRIME

I generally play them for the interaction possibilities and wealth of gameplay mechanics that aren't found outside of the genre

>this thread
wtf i love autism now

Autism loves you too

Don't forget the classics
'tard
special needs

user is a pretty common one

I hear spess station is pretty autistic.
>neurodiverse
I think you mean higher functional autism. neurodiverse makes it sound like you have extra brain matter or some shit.

>neurodiverse makes it sound like you have extra brain matter or some shit.
all those extra chromosomes man

im a sperg and the only time i can enjoy a game is if it's a multiplayer game where i can beat someone else

You know I think that's just a people thing because I generally just associated the "doesn't care if it's not competitive" thing with normies who don't care about anything if it's fictional unless it's a movie/tv show.

>neurodiversity

A nice word for mental ilnesses/retardation

I guess. I cheat in every *Souls game I've ever owned just to get the gear, because I'm completely disinterested in killing anything that doesn't actually have a pulse

>go to party
>mfw balloons everywhere

I'm a sperg but I don't really enjoy multiplayer much at all unless it's just for fun. I'm really bad at FPS/MOBAS/fighting games. I get too anxious and always screw up.

I mostly just play singleplayer games, RPGs etc.

This, I hate it so much
