Black if you have any of the xboxes, otherwise, Sigma 1 is just a slightly worse off version. It's Sigma 2 that shit the bed.
Just play the game with whichever controller you prefer, 2 > Sigma 2 though.
Black is better but Sigma is by no means a huge downgrade.
Wish I could say the same about Sigma 2.
Ah that you I have both an Xbox 360 and. PS3 so I'm really undecided. How is sigma weaker?
Sigma 2 does look pretty bad
If you have the option, play Black. Do not play Sigma 2.
Ah alrighty are the extra bonus missions in Sigma not worth it?
To add on which version of 3 should I get?
Sigma is worse because it adds awful missions where you play as rachel and it really messes up the flow of the game.
Razors Edge.
Razors Edge, I believe it's the same across all of the platforms it is on
Not OP but I'm curious: what's up with Sigma 2?
Sigma 1 is alright, but for Sigma 2 ps3 couldn't handle the slaughter they were going for in Ninja Gaiden 2: the amount of enemies is reduced greatly (while they hit harder) and blood is removed.
This is Ninja Gaiden 2 on x360:

Ah I'm guessing PS3 for Razor's edge then or should I break out my old WiiU haha
replaying ninja gaiden black after beating it many years ago, goddamn this game is hard.
really makes me laugh at people who think Souls games are hard. The comparison between the first 2 bosses of both games makes me laugh.
Fuck that horseman bridge boss.
>How is sigma weaker?
The biggest problem with Sigma is the added Rachael Missions. She's slow and not fun to play as at all and her missions are entirely reused environments and enemies saved for one boss.
There's also some really awful load times in Sigma even with an installation, it even takes a few seconds to load up the JPG of an item when you open a chest when no such delay exists in Black.
If you don't have an xbox sigma is functional enough, but since you do you should definitely get Black.
>To add on which version of 3 should I get?
The 360 or PS3 version of Razor's Edge. Wii U has some input delay IIRC. Though keep in mind RE is trying to salvage something irredeemable (vanilla 3). And while it's better than vanilla 3 it's still not very good.
Not really, if you can find Sigma 2 for cheap then go for it and form an opinion for yourself. Both 2 and Sigma 2 are very flawed games though that dip in quality about half way through the game and have some pretty bad framerate drops, moreso NG2 than Sigma 2. Enemy variety isn't as good as NG1 but combat is much more over-the-top.
Apparently 360 and PS3 versions fixed some stuff with the Wii U versions like AI, PS3 RE is expensive for some reason so pirate it if you can.
AAAAAAAAAGGHHHH WHY ISN'T THIS BC YET? THEY HAVE NGB ON THE XBONE BUT NOT THIS?! I WANT THIS GAME XBONE X ENHANCED RIGHT NOW!
For anyone getting into the series, here's a couple of tips.
Guillotine throw is an incredible move, it allows you to go into i-frames almost immediately. If you've got explosives stuck into you this is probably your best option since dashes are very short and require more precise timing. The key to executing this move is positioning (you have to be pretty close to the enemy and facing them), and you have to type X+A twice. X+A jump is different from a regular jump, X+A actually targets an enemy for you.
Throwing shurikens cancels out animations, experiment canceling out of different moves with shurikens to build juggling combos and such. Throwing shurikens in the air will also prevent you from sticking to walls.
Learn on land charge. You can charge a super instantly as long as there is essence lying around and you start charging right before you land after a jump or an aerial combo.
Blocking is incredibly useful in this game. If you are going to attempt Master Ninja, you will be holding block most of the game. When you get your block crushed (there is a loud cue for your convenience) you can dash out of the crush animation or you can release block and press it again to reengage blocking. I finished Ninja Gaiden 2 on Master Ninja without knowing the later.
Counter attacks are super effective, don't hesitate to use them - especially in Ninja Gaiden 2 where most counter attacks will result in delimbing followed by a quick finishing move. Enemies are very aggressive and there will be no shortage of attacks to counter.
I fucking love Ninja Gaiden, hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did.
No joke, I will consider getting an xbone if we get an enhanced Ninja Gaiden 2.
Playing Master Ninja in NG3:Razor's Edge is all about baiting that grab move and punishing it for kills and also dodge and charge UT.
It's super boring compared to cuhrazee combos style in the DMC series which remains hard but is also fun and rarely relies in spamming dodge and waiting for a particular attack.
With the xbox1 do I have to have the original disc to play this or do they offer digital?
My brother has the X1 I don't have disc.
It's $10 on the XBL store
I always hear how Ninja Gaiden Black is hard but I beat it and I suck at games.
Did you beat it on all difficulties?
What about Black on the Xbox live store? Anything bad with that one?
it's the same game but digital
No, I think I only played through it twice one normal and one hard. It was a long time ago so my memory is fuzzy but I know I never beat very hard.
How much did you spam the flying triangle move?
If you have any way to play it on Xbox/X360 go for Black, always. If that option is not available then you can settle for sigma which plays good both on PS3 and PSvita. The reason Sigma is not as good is for the terrible Rachel missions which slow the pace of the game a lot as she is not as good to use as Ryu.
I never played NG2 or 3 so dunno about those.
RE had that one level above Master Ninja (Ultimate Ninja?). I don't really know how they expected anyone to play it. I've only seen people go through it by spamming 360 scythe.
I only have sigma 2, should I not bother playing it?
The curse of all the 3D Ninja Gaidens is that there's no "best version" of any of them.
Ninja Gaiden 1 is unpolished. Black is a generally refined game but is still stuck with the OG Xbox resolution. Sigma 1 has a better resolution and is the biggest package content-wise, but some of the content it adds is unskippable filler and it has the load time issues.
Ninja Gaiden 2 was, like 1, unpolished, on top of having a lot of sections that just plainly weren't very good. Sigma 2 is refined in the same way that Black was to 1, but it took out the massive enemy counts and excessive gore, which were the two things that made 2 worth playing. The Vita version only added back in the blood, and it's on the Vita.
Ninja Gaiden 3 vanilla was a tire fire. Razor's Edge was an improvement, but it could only do so much. Koei was so addicted to remasters that it was a shame they didn't give it one more pass.
I would gladly shell out money for a complete collection on PC, with Sigma 1's loading issues fixed and the Rachel sections made optional, Sigma 2 with the blood and enemy hordes back in, and just a generally improved Razor's Edge. But I know we're talking about Koei Tecmo, so I've made my peace that it's never going to happen.
>Black is a generally refined game but is still stuck with the OG Xbox resolution
Wrong
youtube.com
I stand corrected. It's still missing the shit Sigma 1 added, no matter how poorly implemented.
Black is objectively the best way to play Ninja Gaiden, but if you can't get a copy of that, Sigma is alright, it doesn't run as well and is missing some content
>caring about res
Just play on a SD TV like you're supposed to
This looks fucking delicious. Is 4k only on Xbox one X?
I think it's 1080p on the base Xbone and the S. there are still enhancements though.
