Baldur's Gate II is the best WRPG

Baldur's Gate II is the best WRPG.

Not so fast...

Pretty much, yeah.

>WRPG

You mean CRPG

>there will never be another epic fantasy romp WRPG and all we get is uninspired post-modern trash made by Obsidian

For me, it ties with PST. Both are good in their own ways. Combat and party-building is better in BG2, whereas the NPC personalities and overall story progression is better in PST. Of course, if I'm allowed to count mods, then BG2 (BGT) wins because PST just didn't get the same amount of attention.

By the way, if you've exhausted all of the golden oldie WRPGs, check out Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader. The late game turns into a grindfest but the early game is good and the mid-game is okay-ish.

>When you realize it's completely plausible to make your own CRPG BG styled engine that has a toolkit that let's you create the world in the same manner as one would make maps in Age of Empires II
>No one has thought of this
>No one will get all the D&D 3.5 material to just turn it into Code to apply to such an engine with an example game.

indie devs lack the technical competence to make a prerendered game, or even their own RPG engine

Are you high? Get that trash out of here

Good multiplayer though

God this game is comfy.

came here to post this

>2 character limit

Is it really that much better than the first one? I'm replaying BG1 for the first time since it was new. Never played BG2 but that'll be next.

its way better

This.
/thread.

My childhood.

BG2 has the Imoen romance mod, it's automatically better.

...

Miles ahead , holy fuck i wish i was you right now, being able to replay bg1 and 2 fresh...

You should mod bg2 a bit tho, there are a lot of QoL mods out there or mods that allow you to access some cut content or content gated for other classes.

>mods that allow you to access some cut content or content gated for other classes.
dont mod a game when you're playing it the first time

I very rarely ever mod games. What should I get for BG2? Or 1 for that matter.

Or do whatever the fuck you want.

Even if you dont want to mod the content there are a lot of legit quality of life mods that make the game literally better.

"quality of life" mods are unneccessary and cut content is usually cut for a reason

check out GOG.com's forum's essential mods and consider them

the campaign is so fucking bad

does she call you onii-chan?

Pretty much. It recreates the feeling of an epic journey filled with adventures almost perfectly. Amn feels actually alive.
