Fun game, unfairly rated by critics

Bruh, it's ratings are COMPLETELY fair. I like it too, but goddamn does it look and run like a steaming pile of shit.

I yearn for the day when we can emulate it at 60fps, but that's still a ways off.

By Branch D she came to the same conclusion as Zero did but neither of them could trust the other to actually go through with it.
I would have liked a DLC where we followed a branch with One defeating the flower in a remixed boss fight.

I have only played Drakengard 1 and the gameplay sort of sucked ass but the story was fun.

One could never defeat the flower, she was born from it like the rest of the sisters. It'd just drive her crazy in short order and she didn't have Gabriella at that point to actually close the deal and kill her.

Playing drakengard 3 should be a decision a man should take alone, but if you enjoyed drakengard then you should play it regardless, don't expect the same amount of edginess though

The only kink she's canon into (pegging) is such a turn off for me that I would storm away from joining her party in a butthurt rage.

One has never been seen fully possessed by the Flower in any of the branches unlike the other sisters, Zero even acknowledged how One was able to keep her awareness despite the flowers intentions.
One definitely couldn't have done it in branch D but if there was a branch that was stacked in her favor I'm sure she could have done it.

Don't know why the story tends to be much better than the actual game itself. It's not complete ass but there are some pretty ass moments.

Taro doesn't really know how to make games, thats why automata is the only relatively good game, since platinum made the gameplay, people say drakengard gameplay was intentionally bad, but i doubt that is true

What liberties did they took?

The poor framerate and level design really hold the game back.
The actual combat mechanics are pretty solid, you have 4 weapons that can combo into each other, you can launch the enemy from most attacks and all the weapons have varying combo lists.
There is a good game in there somewhere just not fully realised.

The 6-7/10 it got were more then generous considering most of the reviewers probably only got ending A when most of the good stuff is in ending B, C, and D

It's weird, but I got tired of Automata's gameplay before I got tired of DoD3's.

I really like DoD3, but I really wish there was a tiny bit more of a cohesive link to DoD in the game.

I preferred 3's 1 of every weapon equipped/swappable over Automata's 2 sets of 2.

That's because Automata's combat was designed by a PG's C-team (newhires) who just followed the established groundwork from Bayonetta. While The designers of DoD3 at Access Games were veterans who were clearly veterans in game design and had better ideas.

The combat in DoD3 is very solid. And while not mechanically deep, it's more satisfying than Automata.

Next game should Drakengard 4 co-directed by Kamiya and Taro.

Kamiya would handle the gameplay aspects and Taro would create the characters, world building, and story. Sounds reasonable enough to me but i've never once heard Kamiya not having full reign for creating games. A man can dream.

The term intoners is not in the original. They say singer, but its spelled in katakana which implies it does not have the explicit same meaning as the hiragana form, so the localisers approximate intoners.

Also, zero and most of the sisters sound quite different. Zero and five practically sound like they have the same voice actors in english, but have very distinct voices in japanese.

Zero also comes across as emotionless and bitchy when in japanese shes way more emotional. Also she doesnt curse nearly as much

Depending on how you interpret the ending, all endings are made canon. Ending A shows the beginning of the cult that directly causes the events of drakengard. Im convinced zero from ending d is the mother grotesque at the end of drakengard (accords dialogue really hints that different objects from different timelines can travel when a seal opens up)

If a kid several generations later can ger fully possessed by the watchers, im sure the flower could claim One

Pegging is the logical conclusion of the dialogue between her and decadus, it might be something else though, but her arm is detachable with lots of parts that should do the job
English zero does express emotions better though, japanese zero is way more emotionless, also her being a cunt makes way more sense if you ask me

This is the kind of game which deserves a low score.
But it is a beautiful mess worth experiencing none the less.

One thing this game taught me is the importance of small budgets. That ending would never exist in something with AAA budget. Even if the games cant have perfect polish, that new experience is worth all the crap.

I remember Taro said in an interview that no one would pay 60 dollars for the most amazing 3 minute game, and i feel the ending was what he had in mind, and just made the rest of the game to contextualize those 8 minutes

Well, the final product does get affected by the terrible framerate and dumb AI, but the combat itself is better than automata, just greatly held back.
