It totally speaks to me because it deals with depression

>it totally speaks to me because it deals with depression

This might be an OK game but faggy depression shit makes me not want to even try it.

You can skip the cutscenes if you don't like them, idiot

Celeste is a legitimately excellent game, but I guarantee you the journos only care about MUH MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS and probably had Assist Mode on at all times

Made by SJW, Legitimatly exellent. Kill yourself tard

Fuck SJW garbage, you've all been brainwashed. It's fucking average ass Super Meat Boy reskin.

What's the difference between Depression™ and being depressed for a long time? Why is the former a medical condition but the latter is a common emotion? Genuinely asking, not shitposting.

Please stop shilling your game here. You want to make it look like you're bashing it when really you're just advertising.

"Being depressed" generally means feeling down. Depression is a specific set of symptoms, different from just not feeling good. If by being depressed then you mean showing those symptoms, then it's the same thing.

From my very limited understanding, Depression™ is a medical condition while being sad for a while is not

Sadness is a normal human emotion. We’ve all experienced it and we all will again. Sadness is usually triggered by a difficult, hurtful, challenging, or disappointing event, experience, or situation. In other words, we tend to feel sad about something. This also means that when that something changes, when our emotional hurt fades, when we’ve adjusted or gotten over the loss or disappointment, our sadness remits.

Depression is an abnormal emotional state, a mental illness that affects our thinking, emotions, perceptions, and behaviors in pervasive and chronic ways. When we’re depressed we feel sad about everything. Depression does not necessarily require a difficult event or situation, a loss, or a change of circumstance as a trigger. In fact, it often occurs in the absence of any such triggers. People’s lives on paper might be totally fine—they would even admit this is true—and yet they still feel horrible.

I'm not shilling anything, just bored and shit posting but holy fuck Celeste is overrated

So is there like a Depression epidemic or something, because you can't go anywhere on the internet without people talking about their chronic depression. Are they just self-diagnosed faggots who are just sad or is it that common?

Bad publicity is still publicity. This is the number one rule in marketing. If you hate something so much, the best thing you can do is not talk about it. People will gravitate towards something everyone hates just to see how bad it really is for themselves

unless it involves countless scenes where you're sitting alone in a room with a loaded gun or a noose, then it says nothing to me, that's not how my depression works.

>Depression does not necessarily require a difficult event or situation, a loss, or a change of circumstance as a trigger. In fact, it often occurs in the absence of any such triggers. People’s lives on paper might be totally fine—they would even admit this is true—and yet they still feel horrible.
Bingo.

I guarantee you 50% of the people on this board are probably depressed if not more

what are you talking about? it's about abortion

>just self-diagnosed
Usually. It doesn't take much to say "I'm depressed". Though if you go to a psychiatrist talking about how sad you are, you're likely to receive a depression diagnosis just the same. There's no litmus test for mental illness. It's all a bunch of nonsense if you ask me, and I've gone through a decade of what was undeniably clinical depression. I just didn't use it as a crutch to get other people to feel sorry for me

Wait it crosses over with Hunt Down The Freeman?

people talk about depression more when they live in better conditions. If somebody is depressed and surrounded by people who have good reason to be miserable, they won't feel out of place. If you live in a first world country, have everything you could want or need, and still desire the release of death you're a lot more likely to ask a doctor what's wrong with your head

It's less of an epidemic and more like you keep browsing websites with mentally ill people. It's like browsing Tumblr and thinking there are more trannies than there really are.

The level design and control mechanics are nothing like SMB though.

Can I be depressed and not know it?

You sound like a faggot, you have to go back

fuck you

thanks just bought the game

>He's on to me!
>I know, I'll throw stale memes and homophobia at him, that'll prove I'm not a marketer
Don't forget to post a loss edit and call me a cuck

Stop shilling

All shitposting aside, I love the game and almost have all the B-sides completed. Over 3k deaths so far but I'm having a blast.

Fuck the bird puzzle.

Can I go into a stage I've completed, get a strawberry, and exit without having to go all the way to the end of the stage?

yes

>Super Meat Boy reskin
Super Meat Boy was directly inspired by this guy's games.

I don't know, I'm a pretty huge degenerate loser and yet my day to day life is pretty happy. Meanwhile, all my weeb friends are always on about depression and anxiety, complete with having to go to therapy, taking meds, and even a few of them having tried multiple suicide attempts. I don't know what makes me different from everyone else

Celeste is the only video game I've played that tackles the subject well with 0% hamfist

Madeline's problems stem from her own flaws, the story revolves around accepting those flaws.

youtube.com/watch?v=igL_kaXGoC8

I'd say there's a small amount of hamfist in there, but it might as well be zero. There's traces of SJW bullshit here and there, but it never lingers too long and you're always running straight into another challenging platforming sections and having fun

It's not exactly a secret. Ogmo was even an unlockable character in SMB.

>traces of SJW bullshit
Such as?

>challenging
Lol. Celeste is piss easy. It's only challenging on the Switch because the D-pad is either shit or non-existent, depending on whether you're using a Pro or Joycons

there's more than 2 controller options for the switch dumbass

A handheld really needs more than 2 controller options. I'm glad Nintendo thought of everything

>he needs the D-pad to accurately input diagonal movement

Spot the scrub

Cool, show me your death count on your first playthrough. Just because you get infinite tries and regular checkpoints doesn't mean there's not a challenge

>implying I keep games that I pirate and beat in one sitting
It was under 100

It's actually about abortion

>pixelgame

>vector character portrait and fonts

Burden of proof then? Here's your (you).

If you were depressed you wouldn't be able to make videogames and go to faggie indie conventions, you'd just sit in bed, or at best go to work and follow basic orders

>wife is a roastie and ugly
>my boss is a jew
>country is overrun by muslims, gays and blacks, destroying our history and culture
>feel sad
>but I'm not allowed to feel sad about those, I was taught at a young age all of those are normal
>Guess I'm sad for no reason, better take some pills

this, people who are actually depressed won't go around saying how depressed they are. One of the symptoms of depression is avoidance of seeking help and bottling up any emotions. Also, depression isn't really "feeling sad", it's more like a lack of content about things - like feeling uneasy or indifferent all the time.

>So weak willed that he gets offended by ideas in a fucking video game
Jesus christ user, just quit life entirely while you are at it.

Depression is a mental disorder. Having a bad week isn't "depression" you are just having a shitty week.

I legitimately think young people today feel sad and then due to our instant gratification culture assume they are depressed. It is like no one told them that life is not one big party and can be quite shit. On top of that, I know people with legitimate reasons in their life to be sad and instead of sorting them out, they go on happy pills.

MANvsGAME has put something like 80 hours into this game on stream. is there really that much content?

>be lonely friendless kissless autist who lives at home at 27
>Just clean your room haha

I guess by your definition, the game should be about shitposting on Sup Forums about games that you haven't played.

seriously, pills aren't going to help you if that's your situation, you need to fix your life

why do you keep saying this every thread?

you forgot 'self-imposed'

being emotionally depressed for a long time is sort of a proto-depression. Often it's of your own doing and not chemical imbalances, but it can lead to an actual depression if you don't do anything about it.

Don't be an idiot. This isn't a clean your room meme. There are most likely reasons and things within your control you can change. You are nore likely to have given up years ago instead of actually trying.

People I know in that situation either never leave their house to meet women or don't have the stones to make a move on one. I'd advise learning to be more assertive or forcing yourself to be more social.

Agreed, but there's no way to phrase that when discussing it with people that wouldn't get someone riled up

Lol, you destroyed that guy. Say what you want about Matt Thorson, he is a true indie OG who has been there since before Ground Zero.

I want to touch madeline's eyebrows.

>dude your problem is that you don't blame yourself enough

>just fix your life
How
>dude haha I can't do everything for you just bee yourself

I leave my house, go to college and have a part time job. I'm still lonely and can't make friends
>just meet women
Never thought of that

Sounds like you are unwilling to take any blame for having no friends. Until you take some personal responsibility you never will.

Make conversation with those around you, join collage clubs, put yourself out there. It isn't hard to be in situations where you can make friends at collage user.

Stop. You are actually trying to have discourse with a person that's still in high-school. You aren't going to get anywhere with this.

I'll be your friend. Not even memeing, if you want to talk to someone, I can be there for you. Do you have some way I can message you?

First, I'd focus on making friends first before you worry about women. You think something is going to fix everything in your life so you obsess over and idealize it. What you don't realize is that relationships aren't all roses. Tons of men are in relationships and still unhappy, in fact many are more unhappy.

You're still in college so it should be easy enough to make friends. Let me guess, you go straight from home to school and back again when it's over? Have you tried joining some clubs? Doing extracurricular activities. If all you do is go to class and back again then you're not really getting out there

If you can do this much, the rest should be obvious. YOu might need to develop some interests if you can't find any clubs that interest you

No he just fucken sucks and talks for 80% of his stream gettng off to the sound of his own voice instead of actually playing the game. I'm 30 hours in though and just started the C-Sides. It definitely has a lot of content.

Yeah, I might try that
I don't need pity

>nobody talks about the soundtrack for this game

Reach for the Summit cured my depression

If you say so. But the offer is still open if you change your mind, you can email me here.

Agreed, why is this allowed? You should make the whole game in the vector art style if you're going to do that. Don't use pixelshit as an excuse for laziness.

are the other sides entirely different stages? or just slight modifications of the original stage made harder

the latter, C-sides are the hardest and they're pretty fucken hard

The B and C sides are new levels and feature remixed versions of the soundtrack that plays on the A sides
