What about 64?

Hard to say because 64 had insane nostalgic value, and blew me away as the first 3D game I ever saw. I might rank 64 higher, but just, and subjectively

Its one of the best games of the past 10 years.

Sunshine > 64 > Galaxy 2 > Odyssey > AHIT > 3D World > Galaxy

I think it's great but I'd probably rate the others higher. I guess the Galaxy games scratch a different itch

no way you put the garbage that is 3D before galaxy, there should be a enormous power gap for any list and at the end of each one of those gap should be 3D world as the worst of all time

some people feel 1 has more "atmosphere" because of the storybook and stuff, but otherwise yes 2 is an objective improvement.

Galaxy 1 was almost broken in some points, it was new and fresh, but it wasn't as polished and perfect as Mario games are supposed to be. Camera was wonky, objectives weren't fun. 3D World is simple, but it accomplishes its goals perfectly

Galaxy 2 > Galaxy > 3D World > 64 > Odyssey > Sunshine > 3D World

3D World has much better level design than Galaxy 1, people only dislike it because "not muh open-level mario", but as a fan of classic 2D mario I loved it.

Odyssey is objectively the better game but 64 will stay most's favorite, including mine.

Odyssey > 64 > 3D Land > Galaxy > Galaxy 2 > 3D World

Oddysey = 64 > Galaxy 2 > (but only very slightly) Galaxy 1 = Sunshine >>>> 3D World

Galaxy 1 has many standout levels with 10/10 level design, where it made something like a level made of junk into something special. 2 is a mod in comparison whose only real memorable level was Puzzle Plank. I like them both but 2 is not as good, especially on a first playthrough.
