Just because you don't like exploration doesn't mean it isn't gameplay.
They could have just made in-depth text that describes that wheres and whats for quests but nah, that's too much work. Better make a character say some stupid names instead.

People don't play RPGs to roleplay or immerse themselves in a virtual world, they play purely for the dopamine rush of picking up loot. Anything that gets in the way of getting loot is just a nuisance and should be removed so that the game can be further optimized for loot hoarding. This is why people complain so much about things like carry limits, equipment durability, having to read dialogue/books/descriptions, needing to explore or follow directions, needing to spend time/resource to traverse the world, or if they can't clear some quest/dungeon because their character build isn't suited for it, and so gradually all those elements have been removed or marginalized.

Arkane studios is one of the only companies I trust to make solid rpg experiences anymore, I understand most of the criticism they get but to me the biggest one is their games are too short at times.

Addons those were called or expansions. DLCs appeared a generation later, infamous horse armor was the first, long after the last expansion to morrowind appeared.

A simple NSWE compass is fine, if it shows quest directions and such it's garbage though. But not AS garbage as fucking minimaps. Those fucking things have completely ruined open world games at this point because all your information is right there in that little bubble in the corner of the screen. All that fucking time spent on developing a pretty, unique looking open world is completely fucking wasted because I'm sure as fuck not looking at that when everything I need is in one little corner of the screen. Fuck you man I'm triggered now.
