Snowhead was easy as hell.

All Zelda games are brain dead easy.

This. They are the Dark Souls of action adventure games.

>Majora's Mask
>difficult

I want this meme to stop.

Pretty much this.

Snowhead was perhaps more technically challenging. And it certainly wasn't logically easy. Multiple layers made for good puzzles.

But Great Bay Temple was a real headscratcher, compounded with the time limit.

To be honest, all of the dungeons were genius in that game. It's the only Zelda game that could get away with a measly 4 dungeons because they were quality as fuck.

Zelda 2 exist user. No one knows how to properly optimize your level ups without a guide or way later in the game. Also, don't forget some of the later palace's bullshit.

That's a big map.

But why even bother playing video games in that case?

For us

I'd agree with this, but Woodfall is way too simplistic.

>But Great Bay Temple was a real headscratcher

I'm never going to understand this meme, just like the Water Temple. You literally only have to change the water flow once to complete it 100%.

why indeed

Attached: alpaca-1668519_960_720.jpg (600x600, 32K)

I mean, you don't want to make the very first dungeon a nightmare while players are still adjusting to the fact that they have a time limit.

Not saying MM is the hardest game ever made. Not by a longshot. Simply using the Reverse Song of Time makes it infinitely easier. Just saying that I wouldn't consider any of the dungeons "bad."

That's a very good question

>not giving the timestamp
12:37

I mean, trolling or not, I'm not going to argue with you. Pat yourself on the back, I guess.

But changing the water flow isn't the key that unlocks every puzzle in the level. Not by a long shot. For example, using ice arrows to create platforms in the water is something that is never spelled out for you, and has no precedent in OoT.

Not him but in some games talking with NPCs can be really tedious
>Almost NPCs say shit that doesn't really help you nor is interesting for the world building/lore
>You have to talk with all NPCs if you want to proceed to the next area/objective
>NPCs have dialogue choices but doesn't matter, you have exhaust every option to get all the information or clue you want
And is just worse when the game has a ton of NPCs that also appear following an schedule.

I can only think of a few games that do NPCs right and most of them, doesn't really have a lot of them, like Majora's Mask which only has one or two important NPCs per location.

Doesnt Bother to read npcs No wonder hes games failed he didnt read feedback

Look on the bright side dudes, you'll never be as bad as Arin at video games, and he's played them professionally for six years.

professionally literally just means you get money for doing something. it doesn't imply that you are good or an expert.

was this your point?

Thank god Zelda 2 has a good NPC system
>Go to first town
>A girl wandering a house always heals you for free. Maybe all towns has one
>An old man gives you a spell, maybe each town has one of them.
>There's always someone with special dialogue that gives you a clue or something, maybe there's someone like that in each town.
>Everyone else just walks for one extreme of the town to another so there is no reason to talk to them
And that's how you talk with NPCs in Zelda 2.

I actually couldn't beat Snowhead because of the pillar shit so I skipped to Great Bay.
Snowhead is a rubix cube compared to babby's first washing machine temple

this and the red dragon shota

That big ass OP enemy in the lake in some forest in Xenoblade Chronicles X, I fucking forgot his name but you wouldn't know he was an enemy until you got close to him. Nigga destryoed my mech in a few hits then bodied me and my party. Scared the out of me. Someone please help me remember his name.

Attached: Underpass0.jpg (1000x750, 127K)

It really did have a good NPC system for a game of its time, and you did a good job pointing out why. Although some of those generic "wander from one end of the town to the other" NPCs do give you some decent hints (albeit a bit cryptic at times). I don't think any of them were necessary for completing the game, though.

Casuals and normies don't play LoZ games. They just say they love them without having played any of them aside from maybe Ocarina.

*literally blocks your path*

If I wanted to read lines after lines of text, I'd read a book.

If I wanted to talk to someone, I'd boot up Skype.

at least it was until i fucked errythang up.

I wish there was a mode for every Zelda game where you are locked into a maximum of 3 hearts for the entire game. Maybe even make it so that only Red Potions and Faries heal you, too (i.e. no random hearts in containers).

You can emulate this kind of system yourself, but then you have to purposefully avoid doing sidequests and opening chests that you haven't memorized. And games like Majora's Mask are all about side quests.

tl;dr - Zelda needs a 3 heart lock mode where you can still obtain Heart Pieces and Heart Containers for completion sake, but they are blacked out and not used.

i started playing stalker a couple of days ago.
i remember this tunnel very well.

i agree with this, it wouldn't even be hard to implement.
it could be something as simple as, i don't know, ennemies do 2-3 times the damage and you can only heal with potions.

The Myst series in general, honestly. Mainly the earlier games. And specifically, the Fire Marble puzzle of Riven.

>headshot arrow stunlocks you

Heh........

Video games shouldn't practically require outside material to progress in.

Really, Nintendo did it best in those couple of games with hint videos. Just a visual nudge in the right direction and you can move on. The best thing is, you won't accidentally spoil anything else. As soon as you have the "oh, that's what I missed" part, you can move the fuck on. And just having this option makes things far less aggravating. Unless you're a doofus cheesing the game guide, you'll probably achieve more on your own thanks to the hint video system.

Yeah, I had no trouble with Great Bay Temple at all but Snowhead was pretty confusing to navigate.
And then the bosses of each were the exact opposites, Goht is super simple but fun as fuck, whereas Gyorg is a fucking nightmare.

Same. I ended up killing the military guys anyways. It caused someone i used to be friends with to rage quit after 5-6 tries though. he still hates stalker.

i actually paid the military guys and ended up in that tunnel just after while exploring.

Gyorg's only tough if you fight it pure Zora

It took me years later to realize that you just hit it once with an arrow, swim down and Zora barrier it, repeat. The remake at least addressed this and tried to make it interesting, and it would be if it wasn't for the fact that

>paying them to get past
>not murdering all of them to get that fort15 pistol and early AKs

To this day, I've no idea how I killed that bitch, total fluke

.

Snowhead was tough.

I like how people used to respect his opinion on video games and then the second he made game grumps people realized that he honestly has no right to talk about anything since he's probably the worse person at video games and complains about the stupidest shit ever.

>people used to respect his opinion

Since fucking when?

Probably when Sequelitis on consisted of Megaman X and Castlevania 2
Quite the coincidence

>>You can emulate this kind of system yourself, but then you have to purposefully avoid doing sidequests and opening chests that you haven't memorized. And games like Majora's Mask are all about side quests.

This is the 'hero mode' in several zelda games.
I don't know if the containers can still be collected for completeness' sake, though.

You probably weren't born yet

c'mon man, everyone as ranting and raving about this guys sequelitis and shit. I could never take him serious since he is the type of person to criticize tutorials while needing it the most.

Many games have discouraged talking to NPCs by making them all pointless
